Hi all,
Im looking to organise an Eve Team Frigate League where 5v5 teams of frigate pilots battle it out in a league based system. I am looking into the viability of the league and so I need responses posted on here.
For the league to work, I need at least 10 teams to commit to the league. If I don't get enough, then it won't run.
Basic outline of rules:
No podding
No EW
No missiles bar lights
No drones bar light drones
If I get a decent reponse and level of interest, I'll post the full rules. Their aren't that many actually.
There will be a prize fund also.

Dreamscape are up for this. I can't give you the names of the team members as this will decided by internal competition, so I can't even guarantee that I will be one  .
We are mostly European players with a healthy sprinkling of North American adddicts.

Have you considered doing this on that Chaotic Alternative Universe...
Pros
- Looting wont matter
- "Situation in Curse/Stain (insert whatever other names" wont matter
- Module/ship cost wont matter - might allow more crews to take part?
- Just about any Module/ships is available - thus making this all about skills/strategy and not about who is best at getting together rare modules etc. (again - might allow more to take part)
Cons
- Well... It wont be 'as real'...
But if its about showing who has the best skills - does it matter?
Anyhow - Just a suggestion.
Theres a chance a BIG team might show up no matter what.

What sort of safety thing would there be? Example: Your corp has me on its KOS list, would I be able to participate and not worry about you trying to kill me? Not in an official tournament fight that is, but you see me and are like "Must kill him!!" and I get shot up in my little rifter before I have a chance to do anything.

I think the idea behind this was to have friendly fights - i.e. no prior wars/enemies/prejudices were to be brought to the fight.

This open to all corps, and players are asked to leave any corp rivalries out of this tournament. If you're not capable of doing that, then don't bother applying.
Fixtures will be arranged ad hoc, at secret locations. The location will be mailed to the team captains only and the ref. There maybe an additional person present to video the bout.
Could anyone that has evemail me previously on this matter do so again as I have deleted all my evemails.
Also: Could potential referee candidates and sponsors also evemail me too.

DI are kind of thinking of entering two teams in order to be able to cover the time zones; no good if our primary team members are based in Europe if (for example) the tournament is going to take place at 0200 GMT...
I don't like how quiet this topic is. Come on, get your frigates out of the hanger, dust them off and put some guns on them! It's all for fun!

I remember that at the beginning of retail here was idea from TTI about same action. But wasnt enought competitors.

OK people....
The frigate league will be running. I have spent the last few weeks testing frig loadouts and organising some kind of structure.
I have people who have volunteered as referees and I have enough teams to make the league work.
THIS IS WHAT I NEED NOW:
Please post on this thread the following details. Cut and paste this into your post. No other comments please.

Full rules will be posted soon.
Synopsis: Each bout will be 5v5, last man standing. Once all team members have been destroyed, the bout is over. If a team member warps away from the fight zone, that team loses by default.
There will be no EW allowed, including dampeners, although sensor boosters are allowed.
No missiles bar rockets and lights
No drones bar light drones
No Poddings

Miso, do you need more refs? If so, i'm usually available between 6pm and 2-5am CST. most any other time too, if I know in advance.

can you please post some basic info like what range do teams start at, how big is the combat arena, what are the rules on accidental podding...etc.
Team "Wizard Robe & Hat" will be there.. will make a full registration once I figure out who's gonna fly.. etc
and when is the main event set to take place? or will it be over a course of different timezones?
will there be a limited amount of spectators or anyone that wants to watch can watch, will local be restricted..
im asking this here since there's the possibility of hundreds of people wanting to attending that will thus cause lag.
If I can't participate in the frig tourney I offer my services as bouncer.. will keep the gate and JIP secure from any invading forces

Reason for TQ? Well, some people have problems getting into chaos.

Dear L. Zap,
sorry to hear that your friends will not be able to make it to the frigate tournament, I assume that they have not been attending to their frigate skills of late. Surely you must be able to find some eager pilots in the #evefrigateleague or New Caldari dear, non? Anyway, it would be a shame if I would not be able to experiment your corpse.

You can't host it on Chaos simply because its a test server, and a lot of the changes they do there are simply for testing and not what it would be in permanent gameplay.
Not only that, but the server bogs down with more than 15 people on, and as of late, 30-40 people logged on is more appropriate.
Skills are also out of date by about 1mil points, which could mean lots to some people who have increased their frigate combat effectiveness.
I also understand that many don't want to lose their clone and implants on Tranquility, like the m0o team. However, if Miso does things right, and puts up the appropriate punishments (punished by miso? ), then people won't even think about it.
Overall I just think m0o hasn't bothered with their frigate skills, so them even coming out of this in the top 3 is highly unlikely.

Also, I'm not sure how you are gonna set it up, but you could make a corp strictly for the combatants to join so we can shoot the crap out of each other without fear of security rating. Therefore, we could do this in say Pator or Yulai and not have to worry about pirates.

Well, most pirates don't give two licks what anyone else thinks of them. They would attack the frigates because they can plain and simple. This would garuntee safety for all. I don't know about any one else, but I've got some implants in me head and don't want to lose them anytime soon.

Thanks for the response people.
Ive got a website sorted, thanks to Shintoko Akahoshi, and we have about 4 referees. I'd like a couple more but thanks to everyone who has volunteered to make this work.
Im not sure on team numbers yet, but I think its going to be nearer 20 than 10, which is excellent.
It looks like I'll split the teams into 2 divisions, with playoffs.
Should be fun.

I would go for it Miso and get a team from Oracle but not if you are doing no EW.
Why are you making this rule ? EW is an integral part of combat in EVE and I dont understand why you make this decision ?
EW can be countered as can any other module. You are basically limiting peoples tactics so lock target and F1, F2 F3 , close eyes and pray for best
Regardless I hope it goes well and well done for doing this.
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

Well, its for the same reason that we've banned any missiles bar rockets and lights - everyone will be in griffins or kestrels if we allowed heavy/criuse missiles and EW. The med slot frigates would rule. At least with this rule, we will get a variety of ships. I have extensively tested no-EW frigate fighting with corpmates and friends in Eve, and its a blast. It works, and EW will not be missed.
Please Oracle, rethink and submit a team

I personally have arranged one of these for our corp and although its been held up in actually occuring I had given it a lot of thought.
My rules stated no missles heavier than lights/defender/light fof to stop as you quite rightly point out folks using cruise missles.
I however said EW was a viable option. Its your idea so by all means use whatever rules you like and if you have tested it then cool. I personally think you are missing a tactical area of team work but hey ....
Where do I make my application ? Here or shall I contact you ingame ? (apologies Im in rush to leave work and see if patch arrived? so havent read the application details)

My corp has been doing its own internal frigate games, and would love to join this larger event, but I see I am rather late in the game. Since after 6 pages I still see no final date can we at least register a team for a possible reserve spot if one comes up?

I also am interested, and being a reserve is fine, but I have restictions on the hours that I am available. This would depend on the day(s) the events are held (working nights). Please send me an eve mail if I might be of assistance to your group. I fly a Trist but qualified to fly them all.
