I use 3 arby, 75mm t2 rail, t2 cloak 2 Sensor boosters, fleeting web, and a remote damper a BCU and a fitting rig
This way I get all the cruise missile strength and power a normal bomber gets...and most intys dont expect a web on a bomber...and the missiles with the gatling will chew him up if they do. (Havent had an inty get that close since I added the web, but a MWD rifter did NOT like it...at all)

Double 70.4% dampener = inty doesnt lock over 3km = i warp. Their speed doesnt allow them to orbit that close with MWD on, and if they do, they get instapopped due to sucky speed.

Yes, the muons are a better choice than the T2 variants. Good point about the effective targetting range after damping.

Originally by: Victor Ivanov Yes, the Stealth Bombers of this world have to endure a lot of hurtful discrimination. The ignorant bigots of the nation take great pains to keep us down. But in fact, a Stealth Bomber is more than capable of taking down a tier 2 BC by itself. You laugh?
Well, I am willing to concede the point that a stealth bomber is best fitted for fleet ops. You need a tackler to keep the enemy in place, or they will be able to warp off. Which is a shame of course.
However, properly fitted, the Manticore can not only be quite a valuable asset, but also be tons of fun to play. For me personally, some of my greatest moments in EVE were spent flying in a SB. I never tire of the "What the hell" messages typed in local as I uncloak and blast my unsuspecting victim to smithereens before they have time to react.
Now, let's get to fitting, shall we?
Highs: 3 x Cruise Launcher. 1 x Cloaking device t2. Meds: 1 x Sensor Booster t2, 2 x Remote Sensor Dampeners, 1 x Target Painter Lows: 1 x BCU, 1 PDU 2
Now, let me elaborate on my reasoning behind this setup. For a SB, there are a few things which are different about my setup. First of all, it lacks a passive targeter, which is commonly used to give you that valuable 2 seconds confusion time, where the enemy is unaware that he is being shot at. However, with 2 dampeners, a ships locking range is decreased by about 75% (A tad less, but let's use round numbers now, shall we?)
Most people would also say "Fit as many BCU's on there as you can". In itself, a very valid point. But you must remember that it is a frigate, and thus has very limited CPU and PW. Fitting a second BCU t2 gives you a 1 second faster RoF, and a slightly higher damage. But, it also stops you from using a second dampener and target painter, plus that your cap is going to be absolutely horrid.
Thus, we use the target painter to make up for the lack of a second BCU. That works quite well, as a matter of fact. The PDU t2 gives you slightly more hp, slightly more cap and a slightly faster recharge rate. Which is pretty darn nice for a manticore to have.
To summarize: Warp in at a 100, cloak. Find a good spot to shoot from, allign to a cluster of celestial objects, uncloak, turn on booster, lock, activate all modules, fire untill enemy either gets dangerously close, dies or warps out. If things get dangerous, cloak or warp out. You should be full speed alligned at all times if engaging an enemy.
My two cents. Hope it helped. :)
2 BCU dont stop you from using a second dampener and target painter plus you have more the enogf cap to use ALL youre modules.

Handle an Inty? I gess - you can't do that without TWO Webber - reasons: An Inty reach normaly something around 7 km/s (till 12 km/s!!! - some people say much more(?)). With ONE Webber you can take it down to 900 m/s (till 1,4 km/s). Fine thing - the Inty need a MWD to reach this speed - its singnature grow up to 200 m (said quickfit). Bad thing - explosiv velocity of (my) CM is 700 m/s - means the damage would'nt reach the target. A second webber take the speed down to (?) less 200 m/s.
What can your CM do? Explosiv rad. 36 m (real good when Intys MWD is working -> 200 m rad; bad if not -> 16 m) Explosiv velocity 700 m/s (fury much more 1,5 km/s) Missile speed with rigs and skills you can reach 7,5 km/s Damage (Faction CM) 589 HP with race bonus 707 (1 BCS II and some skills) Rate of fire (Arbis)13,94 s (me).
That means: First step: Surprise!!! Second: You catch him with your webber(s), he'll try to leave your webber ranger with MWD and, step three, you can kill him with one shot (3x CM -> + 2100 HP -> Fury much less 1300 HP may be its not enought, because you can't shoot twice - surviving your first round he'll warp out). But: You can't hit a running Inty. And you can't kill an attentive Inty pilot.
Furtunately most of them believe they are invulnarable and you can't hit them anyway .

Stealth bombers are ment to be hit and run ships, to that end the full fill thier role very well. A decent SB pilot can get past any gate camp as well as a buzzard can, and is very good at avoiding being targeted. The reasoning behind using target damps and passive targeters is so that you can decloak, fire a volley, then cloak again. if you have enough range and your target is stupid enough to stick around you can get several shots off and down cruisers or recons, but that can be very risky as recons often do not fly alone. A small gang of bombers can decimate a **** load of ships using bombs, and take out BS's using CM's with out a problem. Stealth bombers do not suck; I don't understand why everyone seems to think they do. They are extreme offensive weapons, the fact that they can be insta poped by nearly anything doesn't matter because they are (key word here) STEALTH bombers. they may as well have 1 shield 1 armor and 1 hull. |

there's 2700 damage in 1 volley and 240 DPS. Your optimal range is 223km and you lock at 240, rather quickly too. there is fun to be had with this setup. with the right skills of course.

Aye thats basically it..i found a way to mount 3x arbalest, using the 1% cpu implant.
3x arby cruise, 1x impcloak II 2x f-90 sb, 2x muon damp 2x BCU-II
2x inverted signal field projector
not overly expensive, 50mil-ish and has 2800 alpha and roughly 260DPS. Sig removed for the third time, inappropriate content. Sig Locked. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

Since bombs absolutely suck right now (20 mil per shot, usually a suicide run, rarely kill 20 mil of ships even if perfectly placed and you get away), no.
We have to wait until Trinity for bombs to be useful.

Bourgeoisvio, that gives the manticore a few extra seconds to uncloak, target, launch, and maybe recloak while your hapless victim is saying "what the farg, I don't see a lock blinker". Passive targeters allow you to lock a target without alerting your enemy that he's been targeted.
I'm intrigued with the target painter idea...gonna go try that. It'll prolly help against those pesky 'ceptors.

Yes, I know it looks like an awful setup. But trust me, it really works. With a Manticore, you aren't actually going to kill anything, so your main objective should be to minimize your losses when it inevitably gets blown up. This is actually a pretty good ship for killing logged out pods. Cloak and hide until all the shooting is over, then scan the pods and squish them. And unlike your covert ops friends, you won't care when you fly it into a gate camp and wake up back in empire.
Killing logged out pods??? what are you,9 years old? did you get hurt by older kids in shool? you probably like to stomp ants too.

This is from EFT and it aligns in 5 seconds, meaning that you can fly in cloaked, drop the bomb(s) and warp out before they explode or anything bigger than a frig locks you. The Smartbombs are for popping incoming missiles and drones.
I am currently still training to fly a Manti, but i calculated that you can drop 7 (!) bombs of the same dam type in one 15km radius and achieve a total volley damage of 56k (!!!) before the bombs blow each other up. This means that a squad of Manties can effectively field half a DDD!!!
As for the price of the bombs, i figured that one can just buy a BPO from the NPCs, scince they are tech 1, it costs only 180 mils and you can manufacture a bomb for roughly 5 mils worth of minerals, and it looks like they are worth it in the end, even as a suicide bomber.

T2 Manticore fits.
I realise phased muon are favourite for the sensor damps but the price of them is ridiculous! These fits comes in at approx. one third of the cost of a fit using two phased muons, two f90 sensor boosters, 2 BCU II and 3 x arby.
High: Cruise Launcher II x 3 (Wrath Precision Cruise Missiles) Improved Cloaking Device II
Med: Cap Recharger II Sensor Booster II (Scan Resolution Script) Remote Sensor Damper II x 2
Low: Co-processor II Ballistic Control System II
Targetting and missile range 84km (with missile projection/bombardment L5 skills), volley damage 1673.

Low: Co-processor II Ballistic Control System II
Targetting range 140km and missile range 168km (with L5 missile projection/bombardment skills), volley damage 1931.
Cap should run forever with damps and booster running (with L5 energy management/operation skills). Should run for approx. 4 mins with L4 energy skills.
Cargo bay with both missile and script types would allow for easy switching between range and precision cruises.

I like your first fit, and I agree on the prices of phased muons. Anyone using bombs since trinity? Was thinking about trying it now since they are significantly cheaper (10 mil or so).

It really depends on what kind of targets you want to engage. A few bombers can add a lot of DPS to a fleet fight if used right, if you have multiple bombers, fit a few with damps and a few with webs.
Personally:
3x Arbalest (Limos to save ISK) with CN Wrath, 1x Improved Cloak II 2x Sensor Boosters IIs w/ Range, 1x Fleeting Web or T2, 1x Small Extender II 2x BCU IIs
DPS with max skills: 243 Volley: 2659 Range: 96 km
Bombers are all about volley damage, ROF isn't important. You always, always want to use faction missiles. Feel free to rig it as well if you have the ISK.
If you have multiple bombers, fit half with damps (with range script), half with webs/extenders and keep the webbers closer to the main fleet so if any tacklers come in, they will approach the webbing bombers first. Damp the crap out of any inties, web them and one volley them. Once they are webbed, they will die in one volley. If they realize whats going on, they will run away, shoot them as the turn around.
You can use a bomber for solo work also, just replace the extender for a 24km scram, and choose your targets wisely. My general rule is: if you can't kill it in two volleys, don't shoot it.
