they didn;t change how often loot drops, nor should they, level 4's are already worth it enough.
It's just not everyt used to drop a can. And if they didn;t dtop a can, they still leave a wreck.
Sides, Dev says they are working on a way to see if a wreck has anything lootable before you even open it, shown with an Icon.
Sides, if you were really serious of looting for profit, you would be out there salvaging anyway, cause you can sell the parts as well.

are you kidding didnt you read on forums about NPC mission rats drop less Salvaging Loot then belt rats.. or complex rats etc etc... the Salvaging on missions is sumthing like 10% .. & yes i kknow not every Rat dropped a can .. but i.e last night .. 8 battleships killed only 2 had loot.. both were yes I repeat .. 1 x 10MW.. in each can.. I mean WTF? .. are they taken the **** with this..
But yes there should be icons to tell you if wrecks have loot in them or not be4 you lock / tractor them in .. its just wastes so much time.. there should be a option between just looting & looting + salvaging .. not this second Guess SH** that waste to much of are time.

Ryan, Pirate faction BS have had a very low drop rate for a long time, in and out of deadspace. If half of the NPC BSs I kill in missions drop loot, I am HAPPY. If they don't, then bleh, that is the way it is, and has been since way before Revelations.
Nothing has changed with loot as far as I have been able to tell. Certain types of mission rats have near 100% drop rates, while other have a very low drop rate.
Again, people are seeing fields of wrecks and believe they have hit the motherload of loot.
And I have been reading the forum posts, but more importantly, I HAVE BEEN DOING MISSIONS and looting them.
Give CCP a break, and have some sort of perspective when you complain.

I am not seeing the mother load on loot from wrecks, we are talking practical observations.
I am seeing that before Kali. If I ran any of the larger missions I would come back with a Raven Load(650m3) of loot. Most of it was not worth selling, I melted it down and turned around and used it to fuel my Ammo and cap charger BPO's. Now I run a mission and I come back with MAYBE 100m3 of loot. Getting some nice named loot drops is nice and all, I am talking about the fact that I used to run mission and I would come back with a cargo hold full of stuff to melt down for minerals. Now not only have I not seen a single named module since Kali release the most I loot I have gotten outta mission is 250m3(outta all stages of Angel Extravaganza). That that's tractoring EVERY SINGLE wreck to me checking it and then popping a cruise missile in it to clear it off and it only took me 3 hours to do it YAY.

Alejandro Zapata I understand.. were ya coming from but me & rise.. as posted above.. understand BS never dropped loot all the time yes I been running missions more then 3months cheers.. infact.. I ran the same level 4s that many times when I used my looter ship I would check how much m3 I would get from the mission .. at June on a certain type of mission "Dont need to say" I Would get 1090m3 of Loot or there about... then after a patch in June which nerfed missions a little I was gettin 910m3 of loot.. be4 the Rev patch it was down to 840m3 of Loot.. & now with this Rev patch SH/// am lookin at 400m3 of Loot.. as wrecks & there Salavage crap .. are taken up loot space...
so this is what am complaining about ...
Wrecks have Destoryed Looting... they take far to much time... & they give very little in return at the moment..

Dont know what the problem is. I just finished a LV 4 Guristas Extravaganza. Loot was around 6800m3. Some named stuff, around 40 - 60 Salvaged modules and ALOT of common stuff.
Even before today the loot was ok, it was just a pain tagging everything or shooting looted wrecks. But if you know what youre doing its not that hard. Sure you cant go along with your BS and check every Wreck, well get a Hauler or Fast frig with Tractors to help you out.
We did it with 3 people and it doesent took us any longer then before with cans.

There is less loot.
Period.
Every day, for almost a year, I've looted every mission I've done. I know exactly how much loot I get on average. I remember quite clearly buying ship after ship in an effort to find that balance between speed, agility, and cargo space.
The ship I have now, that I have been using for 2 months, is 85% empty after every looting. This is including salvaging every wreck. I could easily go back to using a destroyer to loot at the current rate.
As for those of you that have swept up "2500m3!" and "6000m3!"....congratulations. This seems to be the anamoly, not the norm. I grow weary of the "loot hasn't changed" responses. "The increased number of wrecks is clouding your judgement!". "Battleships only dropped loot 50% of the time!".
Oh please.
I judge by the cubic meter sitting in my cargo hold, not some cloudy notion of how many "cans" I previously saw. There is less cubic meters. That means there is less loot.

yes the mission loot has gone down and of course the m3 has gone down (check how much ammo and cap charges you can fit in your cargo now the volumes have changed)
Besides which there are buy orders out there for salvage items at 400-500k a piece.

Let me just stop you there. I did this EXACT mission last night, including the bonus stage, and looted 2000 m3, of which some 100m3 was salvage. it took me (solo) four hours. Of the loot that I got, the ONLY named module was a Ditrigonal Thermal Hardener.
Anyone saying loot has not been nerfed either hasn't seen it since Revelations, didn't see it BEFORE Revelations, or has some other agenda. ---

Since patch:
Arby Heavy Launcher Arby Heavy Launcher Arby Heavy Assault Launcher 27.5 mill Hardwiring implant +4 Charisma implant
Plus loads of other stuff, the usual crap and at least 10 or 12 items worth 1-2 mill each. Plus the 82.5 mill above.
Might not sound great, but that's from a total of 7 missions, all level 3.

I'm seeing it too with missioning...
Some types of rats always had little loot in their cans/wrecks. With rats like serps you'd mostly be lucky to get anything over 10k.
But rats like mercenarys always, and I mean always had good loot before the patch. With some missions involving mercs I managed to take away more than 8 mill worth of loot but most of the time around 4 mill worth. (and i don't mean 1 item worth 8 mill...I mean alot of items worth around 200/800k)
Now after the patch I'm lucky to grab 1 mill worth of loot from a merc mission. I'm not even going into serp missions anymore cause they don't drop anything...no loot...just wrecks.
I really need to get this salvaging skill up and running

I think loot drops have decreased in quantity a bit as well. The total M^3 of recovered salvage per mission seems to be generally less than prior to Revelations. Not only that but, as it's taking longer to loot each mission, there's less loot overall at the end of the day's work.
What I really hate is ABing 100km across a mission area to loot / salvage an empty wreck The 'You have successfully salvaged but unfortunately this wreck didn't contain anything' message makes me want to kill puppies.
Please... think of the poor puppies and remove the completely empty wrecks. Right now it's taking longer to lot some missions than it does to complete them (and that's using a dedicated looting ship).

I loot just about every mission. The big difference is that every npc leaves a wreck, where-as before they did not, so the impression may be that there is less loot due to the number of wrecks that are empty. Want to collect loot fast? Get a destroyer. Fit 3-4 tractors on it and suck those wrecks in close. Want to salvage faster? Get your salvage skills up AND put 3-4 salvager 1's on that Destroyer. Now get to work and start building up your hoard of salvaged parts. First rigs on the market will be selling for a pretty piece.

It still takes a long time to check all the wrecks and collect all the loot, especially if you intend to salvage all the wrecks... if you're not going to salvage then you can fit a cargo scanner and ping the wrecks from 50km away to check if they're worth looting... if not, then mark them as viewed (new right click option), but if you are salvaging then you have to get up close (under 5km) to activate the modules.
I've been salvaging since Revelations was released and I've got about as fast at looting salvage as it's possible to be (salvage 4 skill, 4 tractors, 4 salvagers, MWD fitted destroyer) but it still takes longer to salvage the mission than to complete it. There are far too many completely empty wrecks.
As for my hoard of salvaged parts... it's getting there, but I still don't have enough of the right components to build even one rig.

This is exactly what I experience too... And the less total m3 of the loot dont depend on the ammo taking less space now... they didnt take much space before either.. the few 100's of rounds or missiles, you usually get... the normal loot still takes about 5 or 10 m3...

Did you know that the size of your missiles have been halved? If pre patch you had 600 m3 in missiles you now have 300m3 in missiles. If you are a missile spammer than this my account for a part of the lower m3 you get into your belly. (torps drops and other missile drops have been halved)
Battleship in the known missions had a drop rate of about 20% to 40%, this in my experience havent changed. The loot drops in the wrecks havent been worse or better in my experience. I havent recieved a civilian drop in a battleship as of late. If (and thats a big if) drops have been decreased than its not really notecable.
What someone said before in this thread, you see 20 wrecks and go omg so many cans? And than its an actuall disappointment if not all have loot or salvage materials. Still in the end I did get more m3 loot in unauterized militairy presence.

Just did that last night. Its Angel Strike 7 or 8/10 which is a storyline mission. One of the other missions in Angel Strike dropped a 3% gnome missle implant.
Earlier this week I got Massive Attack twice in a row and both times got a +3 implant from the overseer stash area (required Sansha Silver Tag).

My god... people whine about the same things each patch.
"The amount of loot has declined this patch" that sentiment is addressed EACH PATCH. It isn't true. The only difference is that every ship drops a wreck now whereas in most missions about 10-20% of ships dropped cans. So now you're doing a lot more work and notice how low that rate is on those missions. On other missions 100% of ships still have loot.
Also, salvage is much higher than 10% or whatever an earlier poster claimed. On most missions I ran last night it seemed closer to 50% on missions that have salvageable materials. Tech Secrets for example never has salvage, so there it's 0% and you dont have to bother.

The last few month of EVE i have been exclusively running missions. I run lv4 missions for the Caldari Navy to get my standings up for Jump Clones. Lv4s was exciting business in the beginning as the missions were new to me and my skills were relatively poor. Now, running a level 4 mission is more like Isk farming and it bugs me that i don't have any real incentive to go to low sec for higher rewards.
I want EVE to balanced so that high reward is a fruit of taking risks or some sort smart planning. I don't like the way of making Isk through some repetitive manner where you don't need to think or adapt and interact with the environment (I'm not a pirate or planning to be. I sure look forward to some pvp but i will never target randomly for the sake of the kill).
I welcome the fact that harvesting the loot in missions, has become more tricky. I hope that salvaging for great profit will not be possible in an environment where we have impunity from interactions of other players. There has to be a risk of losing my ship and my pod. There also have to be means to avoid those consequences if i play smart and are careful. If the incentive of taking risk to earn greater rewards is taken out of the game, there is not much left in it for me.

Anywaaaay/
Worth remembering, most missions you only got a certain amount of ships that droped a can... frequently remember doing worlds collide in the last year where you would kill about 40 npc's and you would get a grand total of about 6 cans in space at the end of it.
Difference now is.. ofc you get a drop for every ship... i think it might have upset the balance if every wreck contained loot..
Having said that though.... if not loot, then maybe a low end salvage item. ______

Edited by: Jack Icegaard on 07/12/2006 08:29:16 I don't really agree with those saying that wrecks without loot is a waste of time. If that is true, than is wrecks without salvage also a waste of time.
The ultimate thing for mission harvester would of course be that only one rat per room dropped loot and a salvageable wreck containing everything that now is spread out in several drops. The interesting balancing issue here is how profitable mission running is, given the time it takes to do them, compared to other activities that generates ISK (mining etc). The fact that the gathering part now takes longer time is making missions somewhat less profitable compared to the invested time. Maybe this is balanced through the addition of salvage, its way to early to say.
Give it some time to see how thing pans out before you start complaining.

lol, things change, suck it up..
Yes there is obviously less loot than before patch! its because you can now salvage as well. jesus, its not hard to understand. If they did not reduce loot AND you salvaged, you would be getting even more money from missions...
If you do missions and do not salvage then its your loss. True you probably do not get much salvage sometimes, but thast's because its based on probability...

Some of you, like Tuna, apparently haven't done a mission in a few months. I've argued elsewhere that "wrecks" are one of the most poorly thought out concepts for missions in the game. Great for pvp. Great for belt ratters (and please, those of you who don't have the cajones to leave your little belts and actually take on missions, where you might have to face more than one rat every 10 minutes, shut up already about how the rest of us should go belt ratting). And horrible for mission runners. For those of you who keep singing about the joys of how much isk (2 or 3 per hour, it seems) you make from salvaging, let me offer this: why should I spend 2 hours salvaging in a mission that takes one hour to do (killing the rats), for a few hundred k isk in salvage materials, when I can do two more missions in that time? So, I do Vengeance. Takes an hour. 13-15 mil in rewards and bounties. Next mission, Unauthorized Military Presence. 30 minutes for 4-5 mil.
And you're telling me you think it's wonderful to sit and earn a few hundred k of salvage materials in the same time that I can make several mil? Mind you, this is in hi sec.
I've been doing lvl 4 kill missions in hi sec since early June. Loot drops diminished after the major patch in July where missions were revised. In late Sept/early October the drops decreased again, and in general the value decreased, by approximately half by my estimates. To those of you who claim we're all hallucinating because we're seeing all these wrecks and assuming there must be more loot: shut up already, because it's clear you just started doing missions in the past week. Otherwise you'd know, like I do, like many others here do, how much loot you get from certain missions, before Revelations. I've done the same lvl 4 missions like Vengeance, Serp Extrav, Unauthorized, Rogue Drone, etc, dozens, if not hundreds, of times. Don't tell me I don't know how much loot I should get from those missions, because you apparently haven't done them. I agree that loot varies depending on rat type. Mercs always drop loot. Serps are a toss up. The quality of the loot from mercs has gotten worse (try doing Silence the Informant, lvl 4, 50 or 60 times, then tell me I'm clueless about merc loot). The amount of loot from Serps has decreased since Revelations, although CCP seemed to be cutting the drop rate and quality in general anyway.
The decrease in quantity and quality could be due to salvaging. Frankly, I'd rather CCP get rid of salvaging altogether for missions. Let the pvpers and belt ratters salvage if they want. Certainly I don't have to salvage, and I'm not going to waste my time with it unless CCP makes it less of a crap shoot. In the meantime, even if CCP marks wrecks with loot, it won't change the fact that it's almost pointless to loot anyway. I used to sell lvl 4 mission loot once a week. Now I sell once a month, and end up making about as much, if not a little less, for a month's work compared to what I used to make in a week. If CCP intends to nerf loot tables and drops, well, I guess I'll just check battleship wrecks for the rare item, and speed up the time it takes to kill everything, for the bounties. I can make a lot more from bounties in missions than I can from loot and from wrecks.

Edited by: Shayla Etherodyne on 08/12/2006 12:24:58 To sum up my impressions:
Loot has drastically decreased in quality and quantity for all the faction that give salvage. The bad part is that it as been reduced even for the ships that don't give salvage. Like the named commanders.
Loot has been reduced for some of the factions not giving salvage, but the quality of the loot has got a little better for some of them.
Some of the changes are due to: 1) reduced size of ammunitions and cap charges 2) added items in the drop tables (for example all the heavy assault launchers).
While I can accept that mission target(even the named commanders or special ships) don't give the officer loot, I find hard to accept that in the last months the best modules, like the prototype hybrids guns, have totally disapparead.
This kind of changes don't reduces mission farming for LP and bounties but instead increase it, as the player knowing that he can recover 2-3 millions in loot in 1 hour or 5-6 doing a mission will do the mission, not the looting.
