- Give it a warp-to beacon so its a permanent eve landmark

Maybe he had a 200 AU safespot that bob just happen to find fast enough

Any reports of a doomsday blast going off in a nearby system right before you found him?
Log in, join fleet, Kerplow with the doomsday, log out before anyone sees you on.... only oops! the probes saw.
Thats the only scenario I can think of for why he would have a flag in a deepspace safespot.
The killmail said he had a cloak fitted though, why wouldn't he just sit pretty in his safe with the cloak turned on, as far as I know probes don't find cloaked ships yet...
