Over the years, the price of PLEX has been rising, and rising, and rising. Traders and people who buy PLEX with real cash to sell for ISK love this. The rising prices of PLEX make these kind of people happy, which is great. On the other hand, you have a large group of players that play the game by PLEXing their account. The rising prices of PLEX hurt these players. These players are earning the same amount of ISK they were a year ago, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. The price of PLEX is rising in such a way that it makes it hard for "PLEXing" players to keep going. Their in-game income can't keep up with the rising price of PLEX. Most of you would say "HTFU. It only takes a few extra hours of farming." Those few extra hours of farming are hours that many players don't have due to real life responsibilities, such as raising children, working a job, attending school, etc. Since these players can't afford to spend a few extra hours farming ISK, they end up going inactive, quiting the game, unsubbing, etc. A player base that leaves the game harms the game.
Sooner or later, PLEX will need to change. With the introduction to more NES items, the price of PLEX will continue to skyrocket (traders rejoice). As time goes by, PLEX continues to take on many new roles and can be used for many more things. As it is now, PLEX is currently used for:
Account time: One PLEX is equal to 30 days of game time which can be added to your account by using the PLEX directly from your in-game inventory. Multiple character training: Activate 30 days of passive skill gain on additional characters on your account with PLEX. Character transfer: Transferring characters between two accounts can be paid for with PLEX. Character re-sculpt: Customize and recreate your characterGÇÖs facial appearance. Convert to AURUM: PLEX can be exchanged for AURUM, the currency used in the New Eden Store where unique fashion accessories and cosmetic ship customizations are sold.
What I'm proposing is to break these services up. Many of these services don't need to be tied to PLEX. To be more specific, I propose this:
- Keep account time tied to PLEX. - Keep character transferring tied to PLEX. - Remove Multiple character training, character re-sculpts, & aurum conversion from PLEX. These removed items would, instead, be available to purchase with real cash from CCP, just like PLEX is now. Aurum tokens, multiple character training certificates, & character re-sculpt certificates could be items bought with real money from CCP and can be traded in-game for ISK, just like PLEX.
Why? These changes would bring the price of PLEX back down to viable and reasonable costs (makes the quality of life much easier for a large number of players). In terms of income for CCP, this could actually be good for them. Allow me to give several examples as to why this could be.
Example one: I'm a customer that is interested in buying items off the NES store. Under the current structure, to buy items off the NES store, I would need to buy a PLEX and convert that PLEX to aurum (iirc, you get ~4k). Let's say I want to buy a few ship skins and clothing items for a total of 1.2k aurum. This means I have another 2.8k aurum sitting in my wallet, doing nothing. I may never even use that aurum. Although the aurum is still there in my wallet, I spent $20 on items that, if you were to convert the aurum amount spent into real life currency, only added up to maybe $5-6. Sure, I could take that extra aurum, buy some items and sell them on the market for ISK, but there should be a much more effective way to spend money.
Under the new structure, instead of buying a PLEX from CCP to convert into aurum, I could buy an aurum token. There could be aurum token options for 100 aur, 500 aur, 1k aur, 1.5k aur, 2k aur, etc. Now, I could buy 2 100 aur tokens and 1 1k aur token to buy the things I want off the NES store and have nothing left over. I spent less real life cash to buy the items I wanted off the NES store. If I had to buy a PLEX to get the aurum, I know I would have leftover aurum just sitting in my wallet. This could be a reason as to why I don't really want to buy a PLEX for aurum, because I know I'll be wasting a certain amount of cash.
Having more items like aurum tokens available for purchase by CCP also opens up more markets in-game, which open up more trade opportunities.
NOTE: If CCP was to do all this, the real life prices would be adjusted accordingly. PLEX could cost a few dollars less than it does now. This isn't necessarily bad for CCP because there would be aurum tokens , multiple character training certificates, & character re-sculpt certificates they can sell for real cash, all of which would be cheaper than current (real money) PLEX prices.
So, before you guys start flaming, raging, bashing, etc. this idea, let's hear your great idea on how to make PLEX cheaper, more affordable, and more viable option for those players that use it to keep their account subscribed. If things don't change and everything keeps going the way it has been, 1-5 years from now, all the average joe EVE players will have left due to the fact that they can't keep up with in-game PLEX prices. This leaves EVE filled only with the elite and filthy rich players that don't have as many people to play with. EVE needs its middle class players, including the ones that PLEX their accounts. EVE will only die if it loses its player base, and as PLEX prices keep rising, more players leave the game. This needs to change, ASAP.

Well, the best way to make PLEX more available is to get more people to buy them for cash. The best way to do that is to make their value per dollar higher.
So, the best way to make PLEX more affordable is to raise their ISK price. |

How do you think CCP is going to survive without constant demand for "golden ammo"? Not talking about some colletor packs cause those are peanuts. There are a lot of similar threads about, starting from "remove the damn thing" and "PLEX is cheap plz stop whinning".

if the plex is too high...pay the the sub.
If the sub is too high a cost with rl money....hate to be cold but that is a sign that things in RL need to be focused more on changing a situation where there isn't $15 extra at the end of the month. I use my usual example of giving up overpriced starbucks (or like it) coffee often. Lets change that out.
Here is what I do for lunch....every week day at work. I eat chicken and salad. Cost of stuff that goes into this is $10 if that per buy. One "batch" of this stuff lasts 2-3 days. so my lunch is around $3 ish a day. Average eat out lunch is an easy $7-8.
Want to be nitpicky can make it more throwing in gas money to drive to get the lunch, the unseen cost of going out to eat lol. This little trick saves me a few $'s right there alone. And gets me a healthier lunch to boot. Mixed with exercise it has also helped me lose some weight even.
The days of plex for around 300 mil ish are gone, lets move on. I miss them, but have accepted this is what happens in a player run economy. Want the old prices back ccp is going to have to do a massive roll back. As lots of things got us here.
PI Incursions 0.0 changes (dominion sov stuff like Ihubs upgrades to order high grade CA's like pizza) BP changes incarna start of wis and the clothes store list goes on and on
all the above....made the plex speculation we have now. |

OP?
Log into your account management screen. you can already buy AUR directly, I'm not too sure about the others.
Can't you buy tokens for resculpts and MCT with AUR too? No need to use plex for them if you don't want to. |

You need a better understanding of macroeconomics before you are ready to make judgements about how something like PLEX affects the playerbase as a whole. The price is controlled by players. I can think of two main possible reasons the price may rise: 1.) the amount of ISK in circulation per player is increasing 2.) purchasing PLEX with ISK is becoming more popular
Most likely both of these are true to some degree, and I can say the first is most definitely true. PLEX cost has been rising steadily since it came out, because players are becoming richer and richer with insufficient ISK sinks to outweigh the ISK faucets. The rate of increase went up a bit with the release of Incursion.
If you want to keep PLEXing your account, you've got to figure out where that ISK is coming from and learn to get your hands on it. It's just as available to you as it is to everyone else. My suggestion is get into highsec incursions if you want a reliable source of income that will save time. You're probably already doing PI and research agents, if not then start them. If you start up moon mining in nullsec, you can combine that with datacores and PI to easily PLEX your account passively. Also perhaps PLEX is the key word here, running 'plexes in the right areas seems to be one of the highest sources of income in the game and can be done solo. You'll make more in high class W-systems, but that requires you be part of a tight-knit group with experience running those things.
And no matter how everything else goes, there's always one final option: the more ISK people have, the more you can take away from them. You can sell other goods for steadily increasing prices, and you can steal these goods from other players by destroying and looting their ships.
As for your main point about splitting up PLEX, I couldn't find it in the main post but I'm assuming you mean to allow players the possibility of adding less than a month subscription. I support the idea but I think CCP wants to maintain the minimum +5 euro per PLEX purchase unit in order to thwart account recycling as a market exploit. Perhaps the small PLEX units would not be usable to make the initial subscription but could extend the account partway. I'm in favor of that. Another thing you can do is get a free extension (2 days IIRC) which gives you time to liquidate assets or farm incursions and collect yourself a PLEX, or perhaps just activate one you already own.

Plex prices are so high... subscribe your account. Or earn more ISK in the same time as you used to "work" in the game before.

The PLEX prize is pushed by players with to much ISK and there are players who have stockpiles of PLEX some of them have 1000-10000.
PLEX is trading commodity and if there is ISK that needs to be invested then PLEX is the way to go. PLEX is the market with biggest volume and the best longterm potential.
Just limit the amount of PLEX per account to 100 and a lot of PLEX willl get into the market. |

They are too busy making us form up to grind ISK.
If people can't pay with PLEX because grinding ISK is too hard, they need to get their CC out and pay for sub directly.
If they cost too much, then I guess they have more pressing RL priority for their $ than a subscription based MMO and this is probably a good thing for them. |

So a few comments on the state of PLEX, Aurum, and services:
- Aurum can be purchased directly, and always gives you more Aurum/Dollar than buying a PLEX and converting that to Aurum.
- Aurum packages start at around $5 meaning there are options for people looking to make ISK or supplement their normal ISK income by reselling items from the NES.
- We do want to remove extraneous services from PLEX and have done so already. Many of the services you listed (multi-character training and character resculpt) are sold in the NES for Aurum, at a rate that is favourable to buy them for Aurum rather than PLEX. Many of these items have also been separated out in the in-game market, meaning you can purchase these services directly from the market for ISK.
- Globally, there is always more ISK coming in to the game than going out, which means over time inflation will occur, especially in "gold-standard" items such as PLEX which will never really lose their value (i.e they don't get rebalanced or nerfed).
- When prices do skyrocket for short periods of time, we monitor the subscription rate carefully to see if we need to intervene with a sale of some sort, or let the fluctuation smooth itself out.

4. Why not implement more isk sinks into the game to help combat inflation and drive up the value of 1 ISK? With the removal of clone upgrades to protect SP, we have lost an ISK sink, wouldn't it make sense to replace that with a new isk sink?
5. Sneaky and Clever, i'm glad you're watching out for us.
All in all though, i wouldn't mind removal of converting PLEX to Aurum and adding in an Aurum token. |

You could switch the economy to be more based in ressource trading instead of instant ISK. Then you can manage the total ISK amount with ressource tradeorders. There is no difference in paying ISK for a material or giving it for killing an npc in terms of ISK creation. |

No but there is for the end user. We could technically get all our ISK from NPC buy order of stuff rats dropped all the time while we rat but it's just added tendium for any space that does not have an efficient way to get that loot to the right place to sell it. @CCP: If PLEX prices keep rising at the rate they are now, where do you see the game going? What do you think the playerbase or gameplay will look like in 1-2 years? Are the rising prices good for EVE, or are they hindering players? What if something was done to bring PLEX prices down? How do you see that effecting the game?

We've seen over the years a fairly consistent percentage of our player base PLEX their accounts. If this percentage begins to decline consistently, and is not being counteracted by an increase in subscriber counts, then I'm sure we would take a look in to the system. So far, to my knowledge, even with the ruble plummeting recently, the overall subscriber ratio hasn't really been affected. People who couldn't afford to pay subscription began PLEXing their accounts. The same is true in reverse for the PLEX speculation spike that happened late last year. The overall subscriber count wasn't really affected. After the Black Friday PLEX sale PLEX prices hovered steadily around 800m ISK for around 4 months.

There are several things CCP could do to lower the price of the PLEX.
Allow AUR to be used to buy PLEX. That is, reverse conversion. Allow players to exchange AUR for ISK with each other.
These increase the options to players, making the game more "sand boxy". For example, a player with 3000 AUR sitting around could buy some more from another player, convert to PEX and PLEX their account.
Another thing CCP could do: Make supers more useful. Supers have taken a usefulness hit recently with the sov changes, the jump changes, and the upcoming citadels. As a result, fewer players want fewer of them. One way a player would acquire a super is to purchase PLEX from CCP, sell for ISK, buy the super. Now, there is less incentive to do that.
If supers gained more roles, more people would want one (or more), and more PLEX would enter the game to finance their purchase.
Citadels may themselves help. They will be expensive, and hence some players will use PLEX to get the ISK. But for this to happen, citadels need to be highly desirable, not just "I have to get one because other options suck or have been removed from the game". If citadels are highly flawed, only a minimal number will be set up.

God, I feel like such a bitter-vet ... but really I just want to reply with "Stop whining - PLEXing your account isn't for poors" Honestly though, what's the value of a PLEX right now? An afternoon of Incursions + a PI farm? That PLEX costs more than a month's sub and I'm getting the fruits of a single day's grinding for it.
The reality is that the price of PLEX isn't really going up, the people who buy PLEX are simply more wealthy.
There's an analog to this in video games.
In poorer countries (think East Europe/South America) there's far less disposable income to go around and people generally cannot afford the extravagance of $60 for a video game. To court these markets, game publishers have the option of regional pricing. ShooterMan XXII-Extreme might be $60 in the US, but is only $10 in Poland - that sort of thing.
However, once the people in the US figure out that the same game is only $10 if they set up their Steam account through a VPN the publisher has a problem. 80% of their revenue is being lost because they're now selling the game at $10 to the US as well. This is what gives rise to region locking games.
EVE doesn't have that option though. There's no concept of "charity for highsec poors" where a certain type of player gets PLEX cheaper. Everybody pays the "US" rate for their PLEX, whether they live in New York or Warsaw.
Bottom Line: If you want to afford PLEX, figure out how other people afford PLEX and go do that thing.

Filthy space rich used to be 10 digits. Now, if you have a wallet with 11 digits you're considered to be on the lower end of filthy rich.

2 issues.....who would in their right mind trades in a lots of RL cash for the cost of a mommie? Let me rephrase...in a controlled manner like plex to isk to ship. Ship of this cost level no less. There is that supposed link to RTM to super buying we can argue but...people doing this tend to look for deals I would hope. Not gonna delve deeper here, these conversations not liked on the boards lol.
And since the goal is to get isk....many have the isk for mommies now. If they buy them we can assume they have learned to not buy that mommy and wipe out their wallet in the process. Gonna say its a very safe assumption after the mommy buy they still have a few billion in the wallet when done. After a few years to make the isk we can safely assume they have learned and live by the one of few universal laws eve has. Don't buy what you can't afford to lose.
Also believe it or not...some players just don't want mommies. I don't. I TBH trained caps only to make a future 0.0 home happy (if I return there) and its expected a player of several years can fly caps. TBH....I did not do my cap train till like 4-5 years in game. Shows how much I wanted them right there. One of ccp's best changes in recent years was clone cost drop imo. It let me fly small ships again not worrying in the back of my mind that my clone costs can buy me a fleets of the frigate I am flying right now. Take away is some players have not made the big ships their "end game". They are quite happy flying smaller stuff.
That and CCP tried to make mommies useful in the past. You can thanks all the pilots who spammed these on hot drops on anything that moved that caused ccp to nerf them. It was reaching wtf levels of seriously? . |

So much this. Provide LP, standings, security status (in addition to the clone soldiers, I'm thinking a commodity that enough of could get you up to 5.0 in order to look like a carebear if you want to for... reasons) and maybe bounties but less than presently in the form of tags that have to be handed in to the appropriate npcs to be redeemed. It generates content and apart from bounty tags none of these have intrinsic ISK value so they aren't ISK faucets at all, but depending on demand could substitute well as a reward for pve players while providing opportunities for emergent gameplay and a way for players who never pve to get standings and positive security status greater than 0.4, which can currently only be acquired by pve. Additionally if some or all of these have to be redeemed in lowsec this creates more high value traffic to lowsec. |

#5 is interesting. Of course we knew the ECB monitored for abnormal price fluctuations in order to maintain stability. However, monitoring the subscription rate in order to determine the need for an intervention is new, and a bit odd. Stability is one thing, but one would think that subscriptions is a longer-term lagging indicator. |

PLEXing an account isn't an isk sink, all what happens is you move isk between players using the in-game market.
For the same reason skins on the in-game market are not an isk sink.
Buying Aurum from CCP and buying skins from the shop to use yourself isn't an isk sink as there's no isk involved. |

It might not be the case that Russian cannot afford the subscription bacause of Ruble devaluation. It is the US banking systems do not accept payment from Russian banks due to international sanction. Thus Russian customers has no way to pay for their subscription, aurum or plex even if they have money in their bank accounts. Thus the in-game item PLEX might became the only way to pay for the game for some Russian customers.
May be CCP should ask the Russian community whether the sanction caused them problem of payment. CCP might also look into the possibility of widening their payment methods by accepting other international payment systems, such as China UnionPay. I believe Russian customers constituted a fair portion of EVE customer base. They might need some help.

When CCP were talked about the removal of clone costs and the associated isk sink they said then (just after Cruis, I think it was a post by Fozzie but can't recall) that the isk being removed from the economy by the increase in Industry jobs and job costs was more or less balancing the removal of clone costs. |

What if rats provided more loot/salvage but lower bounty. That they would drop BPCs more often for faction loot vs just dropping the loot.
Theres a lot of other means for monetary gain in EVE than just ISK.

I still think PLEX needs to be removed from the game entirely and Aurum should become the defacto standard currency for anything related to purchasing game services or micro-transactions. There's no real reason to have these two currency's living besides one another, and Aurum would make it much easier to manage IMO. Instead of paying for a month at a time, players could use Aurum to buy a week or two weeks at a time.

I completely agree with this. NPC's should not pay out bounties. Instead, like the Empire Faction NPC's, they should drop tags, which then can be traded or redeemed for ISK. That collection and transportation time sink directly results in a decreased ISK/hour and more risk, which is a good thing.

We can implement ISK sinks and slow the rise, but it will always go up. I mean it's not like you can go in to debt in EVE (at least through game mechanics), and the vast majority of people are ISK positive. One idea is making rat availability rely on local markets. How deep this is set is optional, but the most minimal design is just their showing up on a fulfillment (like an ISK value for items on the market.. or just sales). A more depthy version is that those market items are removed from the market for their fleets, with the minimal (or somewhat better) drop chance (maybe even that of PvP). This produces a net negative for all items that are produced and makes plenty of room for improving the QOL of industry niches (gameplay, reduced SP, etc.). They could only buy up a certain meta of modules, or only what is required for developing their versions, et al. There are obviously statistics on ratting, and getting a few infographs is a neat idea.
"But that's more ISK generation if those items are purchased." Technically, they could get loot from LP store purchases, taxes, percentages of ship values lost through PvE; or the ISK made from industry could balance out a reduced bounty meta. The dynamism also sets up sets up a competitive null.
On QOL, there are roles that ships could fill, for fleets that would require the hauling space, while "raiding" NPC locations.. as well as anything that reduces the necessity of AFK mining, like "dropping/constructing a mining probe" and fulfilling other roles in the system -- plausibly also construction. |

I personally don't mind the prices, but I do think it may be wise to limit the number of plex that can be held on a single account to somewhere in region of 24 to prevent PLEX hoarding. This is also better for CCP as until a PLEX is consumed it's a liability so it's in their best interest for them to be consumed.

I'm ok with payouts being increased to offset the hassle.
Incursion runners don't interact with other players and that needs to change. Could make it so that tag that drops gets handed in by guy they get option to share revenue at full payout to everyone who was in site during the time or take it for himself at 50% value of everyone that would otherwise get it.
Adds more trust things to fleets and a way for thiefs to steal your isk.

To be honest, I was not thinking of that in Incursions - only for mission, anomalies, belts, etc. Incursions should just be straight up removed and replaced with something else. But that is a whole different kettle of fish.

5. Sneaky and Clever, i'm glad you're watching out for us.
All in all though, i wouldn't mind removal of converting PLEX to Aurum and adding in an Aurum token.
We can implement ISK sinks and slow the rise, but it will always go up. I mean it's not like you can go in to debt in EVE (at least through game mechanics), and the vast majority of people are ISK positive. Yes but a slow rise is always preferred as people adapt gradually and are not shocked. Prices held for 4 months last year around 800M and now they are 25% more expensive. That is a significant increase.
I think non-permanent SKINS are a great place to introduce ISK sinks. Offer certain 30/60 day SKINS only from NPCs for ISK and see how that goes. Also since it is best to remove ISK from the rich, I think making a few high end materials used for capitals or citadels be available only through NPC purchases. |

Seems I forgot. So yes you can buy aurum directly, or you can buy a plex to buy aurum. I'm proposing to remove aurum from plex to help drive plex prices down.
Also, more plex sales would be nice.

As interesting as this topic is, it starts off from a failed premise: that plex were designed so users could play to pay. It was not. PLEX was created in order to create a CCP-sanctioned method of trading real money for in-game currency as a means of combating illicit real money trading and the secondary security issues associated with it. The uses that players get out of PLEX is just a means to an end, not the end itself.
Players create the supply and demand for PLEX and a higher price is in CCP's best interest from an illicit RMT perspective. The higher the price of PLEX goes, the more effective it as at combating RMT. Whether it makes it harder for some players to play to pay is not important. If CCP chose to not fight RMT by way of PLEX, it probably wouldn't exist at all. The game would just be subscriptions with probably a higher dose of microtransactions associated with Aurum. |

Just limit the amount of PLEX per account to 100 and a lot of PLEX willl get into the market. This. The rich players who hoard 100s or even 1000s of PLEX as gold reserve are really hurting the game. Active players is THE most important asset CCP has. PLEX should be used for game time and NOTHING else.

The simplest thing is to pull plex out of the eve market. I personally know people that play on plex price and want to keep it as close to 1 bil as possible , while making tons of isk on the well planned fluctuation.
They have trillions of isk , so buying 1000 plexes off market is no issue for them.
Plex is best investment in the game, as it have stable value , and constant demand due to alt accounts. Maybe removing the Plex to ARUM conversion could be good. ( but i think no one in ccp will go for this) People who buy ARUM for $ will get better deals , and plex price could drop.
Why lower plex price is good for the game? Because people are leaving the game because of it. Even when they still pay for main account , they don't play as 1-2 alt account was plexed and they will not play only on 1 account. I know this is 'stupid' but people do this.
Agree. Eve need more isk sinks. From my perspective CCP should stop introducing BPO for new modules or structures. Instead of this BPC should be available in LP stores. This way each dead structure will provide nice isk sink.
I know that there will be always positive flow to game, but current prices are 'mad'.
When i started to play this game i needed 60mil to buy first raven ( all websites pointed that this is the best thing to make ISK in this game). Compare this 60mil to current price - and for the new player it is still hard to make isk in this game , as they lack the knowledge and skills to provide basic income.
Not so long ago i pulled newbie corp to nullsec ( thanks fozzie for letting this to happen ). We are talking about 2-3 mil sp players - some could say that they where to "young" for nullsec , but they are managing. In the higsec they earned around 6mil per day / per player. Now , they can afford to use faction ships and learn how to live in nullsec.

The overall subscriber count wasn't really affected. After the Black Friday PLEX sale PLEX prices hovered steadily around 800m ISK for around 4 months.

If this price rise simply due to people flipping PLEX back and forth with each other (i.e. buying a PLEX solely to sell it at a higher price, and repeating with a new PLEX) then a supply shock like that would burst the bubble like an automatic nail gun.
If, on the other hand, all those 800-900M buy orders are pent up demand from people who would love to PLEX their account but are being slowly priced out then you'd drop the price for a while but unless you can keep the extra volume coming in the price will go right back over a billion. |

How would it affect the game if?
PLEX should be sold by a non player corporation in 1.0 systems.
PLEX should have a set price like the skill books the characters use to gain abilities in game.
PLEX should be purchasable from said corporation only by characters with a 0.5 security status.
PLEX should be purchasable from said corporation only by the CEO or a director of a corporation.
PLEX should be purchasable from said corporation only by a character that is currently on a subscription funded account.
PLEX should not be applied to the account of the character that makes their purchase from said corporation.
PLEX station trades and contracts should be restricted to the corporation of the CEO or director who purchased them from the said non player corporation.
PLEX should be resold on the open market to anyone at any price.
PLEX resold on the open market should be usable by everyone.
Issue solved thank me later when the daily logins jump.
It does not have to be done exactly like this but CCP could use game mechanics to make PLEX easy to attain by characters with the specific profiles they want to target. |

My thoughts: Is it a liability for each one issued because you owe them a month of service. The only way you can recognize it as revenue is when it's actually redeemed.
If destroyed in game then you could move it over to the years revenue.
It couldn't be an ISK sink other than the taxes you pay when it is traded outside of a contract.

Ugh. Why do people think this? Exploding ships is a huge faucet, not a sink.
If you rat up 200m to buy a ship, insure it, then get it blown up, and get 100m back, the game now has 300m floating around in liquid ISK. Even structures aren't really sinks, as even though they are not insurable, the money doesn't leave the system.

Funny you should bring god into this... I agree PLEXing is a right granted to the citizens of New Eden by CCP who just happen to be New Edens creators.
The New Eden market left unregulated will never sort itself out in so far as PLEXing is concerned because it is driven by foreign currencies that create unlimited demand in game. A way to counter unlimited demand is to have unlimited supply. If PLEX could be purchased from a non player corporation with ISK and with a set "tax" charge of an out of game currency the market will then be able to sort itself out. In other words every time you buy or sell a PLEX you pay CCP a dollar. Then buying and selling of ISK in game would drive CCP's prophets and counter the effect of foreign currencies on the price of PLEX in game. |

Work with me... Please.
That is an arbitrary amount.
Of course you would have to do research and find the best balance of ISK to dollar ratio.
Think about what I am saying
How many PLEX are sold in game in a single day?
Taxing that service in game is not a bad Idea.
Think about this also... Right now roughly speaking one dollar is equal to about one hundred million isk. If I want stuff in New Eden I should just get a second job make more dollars and then convert my dollars to ISK. I can make more ISK not playing the game than I can playing.
If one ISK was equal to one dollar in value then CCP would be the richest gaming company in the world. Right now the current system is driving the value of ISK into the ground. CCP is basically saying please don't play our game because when you play our game you make ISK and ISK is worth absolutely nothing.
Some of the magic of EVE ONLINE is that it has had value in and of itself that made playing it comparable to a profitable hobby.
By decreasing the value of Inner Stelar Credits you decrease the value of EVE ONLINE.
How would you increase the value of ISK? |

Here's a suggestion, and I'd like to hear CCP's thoughts on this: reduce the cost of character transfers from one plex. It reduces the demand for plex, thus lowering the price. But it also helps the economy of character transferring. As it is now reselling a character costs well over 2b, making it very difficult to build a market there like we do in jita. It also makes it economically infeasible to transfer characters with less than about 5m skills. |

It also makes it economically infeasible to transfer characters with less than about 5m skills.
If the price of the service is too high, then don't use it. |

Then make it a sneak update with 15 days notice, will remove alot of isk from the game, and heal the long term economy of eve for some years.. You heard it here first folks, removing PLEX from the game will remove ISK from it.
Me thinks you understood him incorrectly. I think what he meant to say was it would even the playing field. There would be fewer individuals with quadrillions of ISK and more people with billions of ISK.

Anyone buying a SKIN for ISK is buying it from another player, who receives the ISK. Ah... I see, you don't have the data regarding it. Since I can buy a PLEX for ISK then convert that PLEX into Aurum I can sink ISK into SKINs. So it is an ISK sink just as much as PLEXing one's account would be an ISK sink. (seriously, when you guys were coming up with the name did someone say: "we could call it... ummm or... ummm... oh, Aurum! Lets call it that") edit: it occurs to me that you might mean ISK sink in terms removing it from the game as opposed to transferring it through through mechanisms such as PLEX sales.
Yes, in economic terms a sink removes something from circulation. Selling stuff on the market doesn't do that as most of the ISK is moved around the economy. Market trading does contain an ISK sink in the form of broker fees and taxes, however.
For your example, buying PLEX for ISK is PLEX neutral and a minor ISK sink due to taxes. Converting the PLEX into Aurum is a PLEX sink and an Aurum faucet. Buying stuff from the NES is an Aurum sink.
(Regarding the Aurum name, go google it for the obvious answer) |

I'm assuming everyone who is claiming that there are plex hoarders out there are plex hoarders themselves. How else would we know if there were hoarders?
