If you remember Jovians , great story lines , Mines, Hanger and many other things well welcome to when eve was great even with all its small bugs. It was a great game that had pirates , Rogues , miners and many other type of players working in there own way. we had fun and the great storys we got to read like city of god and then got to go see was great it made you feel like part of the game.
But now it seems the game is only about mega corps and 100 % PVP and if you are not part of that they will tell you in game to go play another game!
Are they forgetting that it was our money paying to play eve for so long that has been keeping eve going ?
There must still be some lone players that love there NPC corp there in ?
Or has the lone player that did some much on there own to see if they can do it gone ? Eve is not just a game it was more then that for if it was just another game then you will let the ISK spammers take over like they have in every other game. you will do away with High Sec and tell the new players to fend for there self! If it was like any other game you will not have clones ! you will not have had Implant ! Thing like that says it is not Just a PVP game. Just look at Mining , Factorys , labs , mission agents and so verry much more! What is there for the older players now if it is going 100 % PVP ?

i dont know what kind of game your playing, but the eve i play is vibrant, exciting, and challenging.
and if you are as " old" as you say, wich i like totally doubt, you would remeber the emptyness that was early eve.
you might love your NPC corp, but you know, they call it NOOB-corp for more than one reason.

Sorry to brake this to you LAD but the NPC corp im in is not a NOOB corp ! It is the corp that all the people end up when there corp close down or they drop out of there Crappy player corp !
Many of us stay in that NPC corp and can care less about player corps any more! as for eve not having Much your wrong again it had many things even if they was small. there was pirate camps right in rens that many new players got to find on there own! there was not a big Sighn pointing the way to it or big text box telling what you will find and what ship you must be in. why not just tell people watch out you may get hurt if you do a mission or go to low sec ? and may be have some one hold our hand .... oooppss i for got thats what the player corps are for sorry about that! even if there was not that many ship in the game its not what big toy you get to fly that makes a game great its Content ! To bad you for got that !

Thing is:
You can still play the game at it's simplest levels of 3 years ago if you wish
Agreed on the storylines and events though, they have been lost to a dumbed down alliance tourny every 6 months:/ ______

Well iam an older player and I still find this game draws me in with plenty to do. I wouldnt say its all about Mega Alliances and PvP these days, sure thats where a lot of the focus is but theres many more things to do now if your not interested in PvP than there was back in '03 when I started.
Salvaging, many different kinds of trade/science, Mining, Freighting, Complex's, Missions and the likes. Theres many a small corp out there that focus on these groups and are having fun and success. You have to give CCP credit for listening to their supporters and adding things like rhese to make the game as great as it is today.
I would find it boring if we didnt have the super powers that are BoB, ASCN, MC, and the many others that battle for power and success. I find these player driven stories/battles interesting and very effective, ASCN Titan go boom for example, something that shook the whole Eve Universe, and player driven. The old event storys written by CCP i did love and wish we had more, like Crielere Station, and the Jovian Ambassidor. But come factional warfare maybe this will be put right. I know iam gona be playing this game for many more years as it can only get better.
I remember back when i was a noob.. :D
*How you couldnt reload your guns from your cargo bay and had to dock at a station to reload everytime you ran out of ammo unless you were amarr (this could have been a bug though I cant remember)
*There were only 5 classes of ship, 4 if you think Shuttles dont count.
*The first T2 ships released were Interceptors which sold for about 200mill and up. Followed by Assault Frigs iirc.
*That blue radar/scanner thing in the bottom right hand corner.
*The Zombie Luminaire Smartbomb Massacre.
*The Curse Alliance Stories.
*Alliances were unofficial, could only be formed as blueboxes +10 standings.
*4000-5000 player login record
*Chaining NPC (a different form of leaving one rat alive however the destroyed NPC would respawn at rapid pace after a while, basically respawning straight away after you kill one)
*TankCEO and Dark Cartel ganking all that moved.
*Dual MWD Ships and Frigates with cruise/torp launcers.

I sort of understand you. However I think you're being influenced by game politics and the common human trait of comparing the grass on both sides of the fence.
Empire is still its own world. In fact, there are so many worlds in eve that I get dizzy trying to think about them. ASCN / BoB have their own little conflict going on, but a few weeks ago I didnt even know or care. Within empire alone you have high sec courier pilots, ratting pilots, suicide gankers, belt miners. You have npc corps, you have new, small player corps, and medium player corps just starting to spread their wings.
You have the traders and the manufacturers, the recyclers, and the RPers.
Go out a bit further to low sec. You have pirates, corps which are starting to harden and make a name for themselves as anti-pirates or as pirates. You have empire corps starting to sneak into low sec for some ore, or pvp practice.
A bit further out and then what? I dont know, I've only been in Feyth. I picture ISS space as being rife with pirates and individual miners who want to try 0.0 ore but without the guaranteed gate ganking.
You can come to the south and get shot at by anything with thrusters. As empires clash and nation states within them try to find their own destiny within eve and within the alliance.
This game is immense. You can think it is all about the southern wars, and those who think like them. But what about the northern/low sec/empire players? What about the corps in empire who go to great lengths to setup a corp mining op, in which the "high ore" is Omber? They're still seeing the game how you once saw it.
Only on the messageboards can you be led to believe that Eve is just about victory against your opponents. That RP is dead, as is building something beautiful. Anytime I start to feel like Im losing perspective, I go read what INNOMINATE NIGHTMARE has to say. Your eve is still there. Its just that you're seeing so many things, in varying scales, that it doesn't stand out anymore.
Oh, except for smack on the messageboards and ISK sellers. Thats pretty new. Sorry man =/
I needed more isk, so I took a risk. I mined some ore then fled once more. I'll return to the core to escape the war! |

Heh remember when the station docking wasn't working "as intended" and we all had to wait 5 mins to undock? XD Ah beta. everything was new and full of awe and not a bit of it worked quite right XD People in battleships were the hotness and no one had any damn isk
to the op though. everything is still there just as it was(cept for the newness). you don't have to join a megacorp to play. you might not want to walk into the middle of a bob/acsn fight but 200 ships killed in the last hour should tip you off :)

Well I'll tell you this.
I am in a corp that was two big alliances for about two years. We finally gave up alliance warfare and now roam 00 freely.
We don't ask plays to do this and that. Very free corp. Best fun I've ever had as getting out of an Alliance. It is still viable to be solo. -=====-

Yea it was small back then and I loved it, but even though its much bigger now, I still love it.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
My corp has chopped and changed a few times, members have left and re-joined... but back when we used to see how fast we could REALLY get ships moving... those were the days. None of this Snake Implant garbage, I think we got 3 MWDs on a Blackbird, over 30km/s or something stupid like that. Crush might remember better, although it was a coupla years ago now :-/ Think we got 15km/s out of a Merlin too. Cap didn't last very long tho, but by that time you were quite a few hundred km away lol. Cruise missiles on Kestrels... ahhh the nostalgia.

Luminaire hosted the Grid Exploration Teams, I think. Was a bunch of people who noticed that if you sat in the correct place, grids would overlap. You could lock and shoot people at the gate from there, but CONCORD couldn't target you (and spawned in the wrong grid).
The Zombie Masacre was held in Yulai, I think, where they remote tanked one or two gankers. They were banned nearly to a man because they didn't stop when a GM told them to. This also gave us the system where remotely beneficial modules would have you agressed. - EVE is sick. |

In my day sonnie there were no battleships in game...no highway systems and it took all day to fly from domain to caldari space with no autopilot....you could fly thu .0 space for days and not see anyone...and the respawn rate was indeed insane..me and a buddy went into CFS space to rat and we chained a spawn (only cruser rats bs rats were not even heard of yet) for about 4 hrs and had so many loot cans in space you couldnt see the rats..must have been about 10k cans as they spawed faster and faster and faster ....and some of the best fun i've ever had in game was the first few weeks of playing and mining veld/scord in 1.0 starter systems
what would be really cool is if theres a small server you could log into and play eve or atleast look around like it was when it was first released then ppl would realize how nice the game is now with all the new features market contracts etc etc __________

In-game events and the like have been seriously neglected for a while now.
Just look at the time it took the Gallenteans to get a new President and the ongoing delays with the new Amarrian Emperor and Sarum heir.
However, there's been a reorganisation at CCP recently, and the seem to be putting more resources into this aspect of the game now, so hopefully we'll start to see improvements before too long.

I've been playing EVE for quite some time and I would like to add my opinion. I'm still happy to pay and play for EVE and I don't see that changing any time soon, but I feel that in the last year or so, the game has shifted to a more PvP base and PvE or things like industry and mining has been kinda left out.
Missions, mining, ratting and other PvE elements are becoming a matter of grinding work than fun :(
As an old player I feel a change in EVE but in that time I've learned to trust the Dev's and not complain at them without waiting to hear what they have to say first. I do hope they have good changes in store for missions and mining, from the 'in development" page there are some intresting ideas :)
Hope is not lost for mining and other PvE enviroments, but the PvP lobby is a lould one and they can shout the louldest.

I miss ninja mining Arkonor in Empire space in my Velator ('cause fixing noob ships costs no iskies).
I miss "harvesting" NPC convoys once you were 150km away from the station guns. (Can we please get this one back? Player pirates can gank player haulers...)
I do not agree that EVE lacks content. As with any MMORPG, the social aspects of the game tend to be the ones that offer the most depth and immersion. The content is created by you, all CCP has to do is give you the framework.

Edited by: Kerm on 12/12/2006 17:13:51 Yea it was Yulai not Luminaire, I think I put that because Luminaire used to be THE main central trade place that was full of lag and 300+ players, plus it was like 2am when I wrote it, 2am, see what this game does lol
"I miss "harvesting" NPC convoys once you were 150km away from the station guns."
Yea that was fun, grabbing all that loot like fibre optic cables and making hundreds of millions off it, though the station sentries wouldnt bother you if you waited for say Duvolle Convoy to leave the Duvoole station and arrive at Quafe Station, gank it outside Quafe and their sentries had no authority to fire, free stuff

I joined a player corp (SOA) within a week of starting the game. That introduced me to three great characters (yo! to Spaceman and Dianabolic) and really made the game for me. One day I might rejoin a corp with them but for now I've given in to my carebear roots and retreated to Empire.
I remember Yulai incident well (a friend I introduced lost his first frigate to it IIRC).
I also remember that beams were crap when I joined, awesome when I got my first BS then merely average after that.
I also remember the TPS betrayal and the other time we were ready to set up an industrial base and the PvP addicts wrecked it. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)
