A pro-celebrity death-match challenge is hereby made to;
ôTankCEOö of Biomass Cartel (Foresaken Alliance)
from
ôTankukö of Cyberdyne Industries (New Venal Alliance)
The terms of the challenge are as follows;
Tankuk is tired of the uncertainty surrounding the reputation of Tank ôthe gankö CEO, and wishes to settle the argument about which of the two armoured fighting vehicles of Eve is the greatest PvP fighter.
It is hereby suggested that a neutral 0.0 system be selected, wherein the two ôtanksö will join a gang and battle it out to the death to determine which of the two is literally; ôtop tankö of the Eve star cluster.
Rules to include;
1. No interference in the fight from any outside agency is to be permitted. 2. An unarmed second from each camp to be allowed to remain to proximity as witness to ensure that fair play is observed. 3. We suggest that Archain of the Space Invaders might be selected as an observer to film the ôclash of the tanksö for posterity and general amusement. 4. All legal layouts and module/weapon combos allowed. No quarter is to be asked or given. Logging off; fleeing the field; or misc. cowardice is to be considered admission of defeat and abandonment of name and honour. 5. Both participants must pre-publish the ships they intend to use in the battle, and only arrive at the scene of the contest in the pre-publicised ship class. 6. The battle will begin at 100km range with the signal from both seconds - and will continue to the bitter end. 7. Since this is to be contest of arms and vigorous martial courage it is asked that profane smack talk be minimised and the focus remain of pure destructive engagement until conclusion.
So, at this time we await response from the TankCEO camp, as to their manÆs acceptance of this challenge. Until them, I leave you,
Love and peace (and the clash of the titanic tanks)

I am instructed to respond to mr "Tank" CEO thuswise;
There can be no restrictions on the loadout since it limits the flexibility and uncertainty of the engagement. There must be risk ... for there to be worth and honour in the fight.
Also we cannot allow you to choose the system. Though we will permit your second to negotiate with our second on the selection of venue.
So .. a response mr Tank CEO?

The system should be decided by anyone outside this griefing POS's influence.
If TankyPoo can't handle it, he can conceed that he sucks, is a griefing POS, and will quit EVE once and for all. (easy for him to kill noobs, but when he is wooped like the redheaded stepchild he is, he whines about lag...)

Sounds interesting. I wonder why there havent been such public deathmatches before. And having a video of it surely is the nicest feauture.
But i think there have to be restrictions in ECM/Dampening fitting. The fitting and class of the ships are to be publically announced before the fight. So the chances of each participant can mostly be derived from the fitting of both ships. If changes to the fitting are allowed AFTER the fitting announcement, it will most probably result in ECM pokering. Who can beat the others fitting before the fight even starts?
I think this should be taken into consideration. You wouldnt want the losing parting to complain about the challenge's rules and procedures afterwards.

In response to TankCEO ... there are no rules of challenge m'dear in the court of public opinion.
You have been offered an entirely fair 1v1 contest of skill and combat talent.
Everyone can see that.
You may of course turn away and walk from the challenge ... that is your right.
But you may have to live with the laughter and jeers of the crowd ringing in your ears for a while yet.
Tankuk has told me he doesn't care whether he wins or if he loses ... he just wants to fight you by the terms expressed.
PS
To the chap that suggested it be done on Chaos.

Personally, I don't give a **** about this match.
I made the rules and its simple.
- No ECM/Damps. - I choose When and where. - The system will be 0.0 and the only people in that system with be me, Tank UK and Archain which will be in a frigate he chooses. - The match will be in a place, in middle of no where, we will be in a gang. He can be the leader if he likes. But IF anyone enters the gang he will aviously be disqualified.
Those are the rules, plain and simple. I don't care what you guys think of me wether I have skills or not. IT all goes down to the fight. You wanna think i suck, well go right ahead, see if I care. ---

I have nothing to prove here, I liad down the guidelines for me to fight in this match and you have refused to comply. I for one will not waste my time to goto a 1v1 fight just to be jammed and fired upon.
Like i said, I have nothing to prove, I dont care if you guys think i have skills or not.

In the meantime, the Forsaken Alliances forces, consisting of Space Invaders, Zombies and Valkrye pilots defeated the NVA forces while odds were 25vs9.
2 scorps, 1 tempest and a lot of cruisers were shot down.
The rest of the NVA fleet decided to stay by the Venal Defensive Doctrine (aka run for the mountains and take cover).
Rual Storge was blasted to pieces while making funny faces from 100km away, on the border of the local grid.
Jade Constantine commented: "Well it seems like you blew the crap out of a load of our ships again"
But alas, it has not all been victories for the freedom fighters.
Today in a sad incident, the Alliance Chat channel of our forces was stormed by the NVA, in a crippling move that nearly made us surrender the war. It was devastating, it wass a great blow, but we will survive.
NVA Members were reported to have said "All your channels are belong to us, all our battleships are belong to you!" Codebreakers are working on it as we speak.
The Carebear emperor, who recently awarded his champions with uber battleships commented "No i do not think that the lag was unbearable, or that the event was ghey. I dont agree with those who complain that they were stuck for 2 hours either. I definatly cannot say that the RP was very ghey, or that the universe collapsed for a reboot when our home system got invaded by people that thought this event actually had a point. And over all, the event did turn out just like we planned. Thx for your time. I think i'll have a cookie."
------------------------------------------
In other news, the NVA, in a last-ditch PR effort, have challenged Tank CEO to a 1v1 duel with their own Tank UK.
The battle has already been labled as a "battle of tanks" by the Sports Critics of the Caldari State, yet many of them have reminded the public that the NVA has a history of inviting people to 1v1 and ambushing them.
When threatened with public humiliation in the form of a "forum challenge" , Tank CEO responded:
"I dont care."
Jade Constantine was shocked by this unbelievable answer, and she was last spotted in a jungle on y-4cfk prime, running around naked. Local journalists who went to take pictures came back terrified, and were heard mumbling "omg she's a man, she's a man! who could have guessed?!".
The whole universe is waiting for the outcome of this great event. Even the Ghey Carebear Emperor of the Ghey Amarr has been reported to have put money on Tank CEO.
Jamyl Sarum, the Former Imperial Griefer-heir, whose home system (sarum prime) has been the scene of the piratical heresy of Tank CEO, was enraged by the actions of the Carebearking (a popular name for Emperor Kor-Azor). He commented:
"Omg thx Tank, i was looking for an excuse to start a civil war, you r teh r0x0r"
Political Experts say the statement is very subjective.

emm there is no point in using ecm> it is no test of skill. Especially if you have to declare the ship before you come. As then it is simple to mount a stupid amount of specific jammers.
There would be no need of scramblers on the setup as if you warp out you lose.
So really drop ecm for a skill bassed 1v1.

I ask rhetorically, because you can't. No such rule exists except in your head. If you can't fight in an open match in a venue chosen mutually and with witnesses from both sides, then simply refuse to fight.
Saying it's because they "don't understand the rules of challenges" is a really weak excuse. "Cop-out" some might say.
"You challenged me, so I say you're not allowed to equip any weapons, but I am. We meet in my homesystem, all of my corpmates are there but none of yours. Also you have to fill your cargohold with megacyte and rare modules first. Oh, and be AFK."

If the point of the 1 on 1 match is to determine the best PvP player in Eve, a match without ECM is a pointless in determining the best PvP player as it is an integral part of combat in Eve. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. So... mounting all this ECM and the like would take up many slots? Why no counter with a raven and FoF missiles (cruise) and turn the shields and armor into a tank and ignore the other guy using his med/low slots for ECM?

I can guess why Tank CEO wants no ECM ... its quite simple actually.
Since he "Tank the Gank" almost certainly has more skill points than our Tankuk ... without the uncertainly of ecm interaction in the fight the result would almost certainly go to Tank CEO given 2 uber setup damage dealers.
For example, in a straight Raven tank vs raven tank gunnery duel an extra 5% here and there on missiles and trajectory analysis will add up, and provide the man with the greater skill points a decisive advantage.
With no limits ECM possible however, Tank CEO would have to cover his bases more fully and take a risk with his setup.
But of course as we all know,
TankCEO isn't a man for taking risks...
Ah well, the fact remains - a fair challenge has been made.
Whether it is accepted or not is up to Tank CEO.

"Not that big of a difference?"
Let me see, you want to decide when it happens so you can prepare, where it takes place which adds the obvious and not unlikely threat of you setting up an ambush before, during or after the event in classic Tank style, what types of modules are used which you obviously want to favor where you have invested the most skillpoints/training, and who gets to be there.
Wow, and what decisions are left to be worked out? Your counter-offer is a ******* joke, and so are you for coming up with such a lame-ass reason not to fight. Just say you don't want to accept the challenge and leave it at that.

hmm if a Megathron can take my Gravemetric strength to -20, imagine what a Scorpion can do.
I listed my guidelines, you don't want a fair match.
These are the reasons why you want ECM.
1. To scare a person into thinking he might go ECM so that he will fit all his mid slots and low slots to counter the ECM 2. Since we have to give out what ships we will be flying, its alot easier to Jam then it is to counter jamming. 3. If some 1 doesnt fit jamming or does and 1 doesnt have a counter to that jamming, the one being jammed will just be all defensive. In my case, you wont be able to destroy me anywas so whats the point. 4. See, you want kickboxing, I just want boxing.
You wanna kickbox, I wanna box. Choose which one, aviously you chose Kickboxing, well guess what, I dont kickbox, I only box.
I have made my decision already in this topic, you aviously seem to not see it so Ill say it again.
No ECM/Damps.
Fine, you wanna choose the location, fine, but I want to know the location and then we will negotiate.
If you agree to my guidelines, you got yourself a fight. If not, then o well. No fight then.
You are challenging me, im not challenging you, the challenger doesnt make the rules. The one being challenged does. Ask anyone. Its the same with boxing, everything, Top 10, everything. ---

I couldn't have put it better myself.
This is called strategy. Deciding what you think your opponent is going to do and trying to come up with countermeasures is part of the skill of being a successful pilot. You simply don't want to do it beacuse you're afraid you will guess wrong and lose the fight.
So instead of actually having to use your brain, you just want to play "most damage wins." Well, guess what, that's not how this game works. If you can't plan and deal with eventualities then the rumors of your skills have been vastly exaggerated.
Weak.

Why dont you guys just take the 2 tanks, line up their skill points, and see who has more skills in the pvp areas.
Since there is no RL skill at all required in the combat system in this game, save the abilty to click your mouse buttons, the only thing that matters is who has the better skills trained.
So I would have to agree with Tank CEO in that you shouldn't use Electrronic warfare modules as then you would have to have many matches consisting of different set-ups of the ships to even everything out.
Not using Electronic Warfare would pretty much just limit it to who has more skill points, but then you could get into what weapons each are using and what weapon upgrades they have and you would just start a whole different argument.
So, like I said why dont you just line up their skills and see who has more pvp trained up.
Or you can just put both of them in ibis frigates and see who come out alive. |

To be a true warrior surly u must be able to fight in all types of ships. So how about a 3 round match: 1 with frigates, 1 with cruisers, 1 with battleships
ECM is allowed in one of these rounds, maybe in the cruiser round.
This way it will come down to using different tactics in each round.

You can't really compare this to chess because in chess bother players are started completely equal and it comes down to who has a better perception of the board and better systematic strategy. This combat system only rely's on pre-emptive strategy and what each person equips, But I do see your point.
Thats why I said we should just put them in starter ships and see who lives longer since any other way just depends on who comes with the more advantegous set-up and doesnt really reflect they're skill points. |

You are somewhat wrong. That will be a matter of who has the most skill points. In a message in this own thread, you posted that you don't care, that you don't have anything to prove.
Well, this is not the behaviour you recently demonstrated in the forums posting your skill points and even a screenshot.
If you are flying around in the eve universe, your opponent WILL have the ability to fit whatever he wants. I agree to some extent that luck plays a major role, but using your brain to figure out what your opponent will do IS PART of the challenge. _______________________________________________

ECM requires all the skill that Microsoft has granted users of the Windows Operating System since MS Windows 3.0: the ability to use a calculator.
Turrets, and even missiles, are affected by how good both pilots are at manuevering their vessels. The ability to take advantage of your opponent's tracking and optimal range, the ability to maneuver to keep your target in your sweet spot while denying them theirs. Hell, even staying behind your target to affect the usage of their missile launchers.
If you want to prove who is the better tactical fighter, no ECM. If you want to prove who is the better strategic fighter, ECM stays. Guess it's time to declare what kind of glove you're slapping Tank CEO across the face with:
Strategic or Tactical.
Oh and btw, by traditional dueling rules Tank CEO is correct.
Challenged has the right to choose weapons and grounds.
Challenger chooses his distance and the seconds fix the time and terms of firing.

Allowing ECM/Dampners is silly in a 1on1
A one on one is a fight between guns/piloting skills. Not to see who jams the other the fastest.
I think you are pretty pesky that you bother TankCEO with such silly accusations. The one who gets a target lock first wins, only showing that he has trained Electronic warfare, signature analasys and has a good sensor booster, nothing else!! Doesnt proof who is the better PvP'er. With no ecm they but on alot more variety of skills to test.

This is a stupidly desperate attempt by the NVA to restore their lost dignity by a pathetic PR "challenge".
Tank doesnt have to fight this just because the NVA "challenged" him. The NVA is known for BACKSTABBING people that they invite to 1v1. Jade has stated that this is acceptable.
Hypocrisy.

I can name alot.
- 4 Damps/4 Multispec - 4 Damps/4 Gravemetric Jammer - 5 Damps/3 Gravemtric Jammer - 8 Gravemetric Jammers - 8 Dampners - 2 Of Each Jammers - 3 Damps/5 Multispec - 3 Damps/5 Gravemetric Jammers - 3 Damps/3 Gravemetric Jammers/2 Select Other Jammers
I can just go on and on. Now you tell me, is that strategic? It would be a AWESOME guess if the fight was to go on and someone countered the jam.
Be real, be fun, no ECM, show your pvp skills. Theres no skill in ECM. Why do you think CCP didnt allow ECM in the matches, because as they stated its cowardly.

Edited by: Tank CEO on 23/11/2003 07:20:56 In my opinion ECM is of coarse not fair and boring. Its just like tieing some one hands behind their back and fighting. But ECM is in the game. You offered me a challenge which allows ECM, so I counter offered and asked no ECM which is a fair 1v1 fight to the end which you rejected.
Simple. Lets end this. You aviously don't know what PVP is all about. Why do you think hardly anyone uses ECM on chaos, cause its lame. This is a 1v1, Its nearly impossible to counter a Jam. So no, its not fair, it was not a fair challenge. Im offering you a 'FAIR' counter offer but you reject because you want to have a unfair match. Thats all ECM is is confusion and the luck of the guess in a 1v1 like this. So im removing this guess with my counter offer. Im offering a fair, non-coward, 1v1 fight with rules of no ECM/DAMPS and you still refuse, lol its pretty funny. ---

Err what do you expect me to do? Take you seriously? All you do is spin crap on the forums, you talk and talk, but you dont really do anything. Homo Erectus for example, has the balls to back up his talk ingame, but you and your sorry alliance are just TALK. Sorry but i prefer to dance for comedic effect Bending the truth?
Here's the truth:
3 small corps, consisting of 10-15 people at one time, have invaded your alliance territory, destroyed huge amounts of battleships, cruisers and corporation assets and laid siege to your "alliance" of 20 corps, many who have 50+ members, some even 100-200.
You have no pvp experience, you have no skill, you are running very thin on assets, you have no coordination and do not want to risk anything in war.
You have issued an order for everyone in the alliance (named the new VENAL alliance) to run for the mountains on your own turf.
Ok this is understandable. Many of the Venal corps have good pilots, who have fought with us bravely, even if it meant loosing their ships. They deserve respect, and they have it from SPVD.
But you on the other hand, do not deserve any respect, because all you do is talk crap on the forums, say lots of stuff that you cannot back up, issue stupid challenges in order to regain your PR dignity, which you lost after it turned out the "Space Cadets" were not really cadets (note the careful spin from Cadets to Invaders in the your last few posts. A sudden respect for SPVD? or a desperate attempt to make it look like you never underestimated us?).
You alone (and a few of your "cadets" ;)) have made the NVA look like a bunch of smack talking, exaggerating n00bs who only have the power of fighting on the forums. Yes you use a dictionary, yes you use a spelling checker. That doesnt make your crap "right". it makes it funny when it turns out to be wrong.
I believe the NVA would have more respect if they stopped this stupid PR Crusade, that has turned out to be a hollow club that Jade has been swinging around to make the alliance look good.
So let me dance to comedic effect again. -

Er...
I'm struggling here..
The fight has to be on Jades terms in order to be fair because she says so?
Um...
But she isn't the one fighting?
Hell, I give up, but I will add that if someone said to me 'I want to fight you 1on1 in a system of my choice and according to my own rules, and if you don't agree you are a coward', I'd just shrug, give them a cookie and walk off.
Jade, if you really wanted the fight you would negotiate the rules, especially if both the Tanks are agreeable, as it is now this just looks like a cheap publicity stunt. ______________________________________________

Mr.Archain, i believe. ^^
... Maybe you guys should try to get in touch with the owner of "Tank" nick in game, and negotiate with him so the winner of this match can have their name changed to it. (methinks Tank CEO would like the prospect of such prize a lot ;)

to the general wave of muppet bandwagon jumpers in the audience.
1.Tankuk asked me to write the challenge for him. 2. He asked me to specify those terms publicly. 3. The terms offered were "fair" 4. Nobody here has contradicted point 3 in a meaningful way. 5. Viceroy is a posting meaningless nonsense. 6. Tankuk simply wanted a fight. 7. Since Tankuk has now agreed with Tank CEO's revisions their is no disagreement.
Everyone leaping on the bandwagon to take a swipe at me, at the NVA, or at whatever should take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.
Your nonsense hate and pitiful ego-crises are making you post rubbish.
Honestly, If I can't post a public challenge at the request of a friend in-game and then support the contention that the challenge was "fair" (which it undoubtedly was) against the contention that it was not (which is nonsense)
Without being multiply-flamed by space invaders, biomass, and assorted alts ... then this is a sad state of play.
Grow up you morons!

Tankuk agreed with the challenge doc. He was of course entirely within his rights to accept the counter proposal.
The reason I argued with TankCEO for 4 pages was because of his crazy assertion that the challenge as set wasn't "fair".
That was the point I was nailing him on.
And then you made a common about me scamming ... and I still want to know what that was supposed to mean?

Nice to see they agreed on a way of fighting. A good one even as ECM would screw up any good match if wanting it to be a test of skill.
And as far as setting the rules, I do believe it is customary for the challenged to chose the rules and weapons?

Im curious about the so-called backstabbing by NVA in 1on1 fights. Have they jumped people before during duels? If so maybe a security deposit of say $50million isk should be placed with someone reputable by both sides. It would be held until the fight is over to ensure no outside interference. Pick someone reputable like Hardin or Morkt or even a Polaris or GM? Someone who would return the money after the fight and hold it to ensure a fair fight.

No rules in regard to ECM/dampeners but if Tank CEO wins, Jade Constantine must stop posting in the forums.

Ok, 2cents from me:
I think that its cool that tankuk wants to 1v1 tankceo. Insurance would cover the ship nicely. In reading these posts I have came up with a rather funny conclusion. Tankceo is under 15 years old. On the playground is where I used to hear you play it my way or nothing.. 1st through 5th grade.
Big boys just battle it out. Ever watch a fight called UFC? That is where the best of the best went into battle not knowing what the other guy would have. Anything goes is the way it should be done. If you lose a ship you wont care, its the thought of losing that scares you most and you wont do it. You dont want to lose all that goes with the name "tankceo". Which to n00bs is like a shark. To me, no worries.

Quote: I can guess why Tank CEO wants no ECM ... its quite simple actually.
Since he "Tank the Gank" almost certainly has more skill points than our Tankuk ... without the uncertainly of ecm interaction in the fight the result would almost certainly go to Tank CEO given 2 uber setup damage dealers.
Why must Miss Constantine get involved in this?I'm not making a personal attack against Jade here-it simply doesn't make sense. The fact that Tank CEO has more skill points or not, isn't his problem.if this was about skill points from the beginning, TankUK shouldn't have challenged anyone. We've seen these '1on1' style duels from the NVA before.. multiple people have agreed to duels with you lot, only to be warp jammed and faced with a 1v111 fight.
Care to name those people who agreed to duels and then ambushed their foe? A statement without facts is worthless rumour.

I agree entirely with the poster above.
Tankuk has crazy courage. He just wants to fight and have fun. He is a decent guy, straight-up and dignified.
I personally think he's insane also to agree the no-ecm rules that TankCEO dictated, because I literally can't see how he can win with CEO's extra 2m skill points in a straight damage fest.
But you know what,
Tankuk just doesn't care. He wants to fight anyway.
And that takes a lot of guts.

2 mill skill points is not alot and if they are not in the rihts skills it won't make a difrence either way it will be a cool fight. so when is the bug day and has any one started running a betting shop on this yet???

Hey,
I could be wrong here since I'm not in a BS yet...
But if you take ECM out of it, wouldn't that make it more fair, especially lag-wise.
If one party is delayed from targeting the other due to lag, then the non-delayed person could deploy their ECMs sooner, and thus shut the other down... completely negating skills.
If you leave ECM in, it could just be a test of a persons connection, not PvP skils.
Just a thought...
