I'm having the same issues with petitions.
This AM, I deleted an old petition, and when I filed a new one, the old one remained visible, and the new one was not.

As soon as t2 lottery gets re-seeded and everyone is hoping for that one precious mail, we're slapped with this "eve-mail refusing to stay "read" BS, which the last time was an issue back in... what? 2004, when Exodus came out?

I have the exact same problem.
All messages since Wednesday that I don't delete show up as not read.
I apologise, i never meant to make it sound as though i thought you were lying. We're looking into the problem and will try get a fix for it asap.
edit: it's been fixed in the next patch 
Er which 'next' patch do you mean ?
Tuesdays one didn't fix it.

and its not just evemail from any particular date.. its random, some things stay read, others dont.
its a little.. inconvenient. and some seem to pop back to unread after a period of time.. course, that might just be me and I am hallucinating

Yep, still happening here too.
I have 3 mails received on 17th Dec that are invincible. They cannot be marked as read and they cannot be deleted - they always return when I next log on.
I've checked that my cache folder (and all sub-folders and files) are NOT read-only.

Whats odd about this bug is that only a couple of all mail is affected by this bug. The mail received after the day mails weren't getting flagged becomes read as it should be.
Looks to me as some mail is set to read-only serverside.
However, I still think EvE needs more and better tactical warning sounds.

Going on two weeks with this same problem on different accounts :( Our corpmail has dwindled to a standstill because people are pretty tired of scanning through dozens to hundreds of messages to tell which ones are truly new or 'new' for the 25th time.

Guys, the 'read only' folder problem has to do with Windows. Try looking at any folder on your hard drive. They should all be marked as 'read-only'. I'm not sure why, must be a Microsoft 'feature' to do with networking.
As for the emails, fix it already. AND the lag. AND the crashes. AND the little images in the forums. AND invention.
Do all this BEFORE you start messing with more 'features' to the game.
Prettying up the new user creation screen shouldn't have been priority #1 at ALL. I can see how it might be from the marketing department, so as to entice new players to the game, but goddamit FIX the game FIRST would ya?

When I login, i have to sort through close to 200 mails that are all marked as unread.
I get a lot of mail. This is piling up and getting ridiculous.

Same here, mails keep blinking every time I log on.
I put up a petition and the GM that took care of the petition told me he has the same with his chars. He forwards me to make a stupid bug report!
Its not a problem when things get bugged after a patch. That is normal in software. Thats why i petition some times, as to help. But filling in bug reports and activly help testing is another thing!
If the GMS have the same problem, why donĘt THEY fill in a report?? Nooo we ask the paying customer to enrol life as a bug tester.
Did we miss something?? I play eve to relax and to get away from filling in forms, work, and do serious ****. I want to PLAY and have fun, not to test a game via bug reports! And when OBVIOUS bugs like this pop up i expect them to escalate my petition to their bug testers and seek it out themselves. I am sure those nuckleheads with glasses will find a solution in 0101010 talk, so leave me out of it.
FFS, they can talk against their own programmers in bits and bytes language so they understand the problem better if some one internal would do some bug testing.

I have the same problem, and no, haven't tried the patch, will do when I get home.
I'd sure like to get it sorted, as one of my POSes has been under attack every time I login since December 17th or so lol. (a corpmate accidentally set off a smartbomb in it hehe)

OK, just wanted to make sure. Jiekon also says its supposed to be fixed here. I'll tell him that some people still experience the bug when I see him (unless he spots this bumped thread himself first).

Are you saying that the bug is not affecting the Devs? Jesus H., I made a thread about a week ago, and yes it was a crazy lunatic style rant, but you guys locked it saying that it would be fixed and here we are, problem still not fixed. It's completely random. I have mails as far back as the 12th being flagged as not read, and then nextime i login mails only go back to the 22nd. And there's a mailing list that I constnatly unjoin myself from only to find myself rejoined everytime i login. This is one of the most irritating bugs I have ever experienced, so for the love of god, even if you have to release some little mini patch, FIX THIS PROBLEM.

If thers someone that don't know how the drones are fekked, they must either not use them, or not read the forums to often. Lets face it, everyone and there mothers have bug reported the dam things, They have been fixed twice! and still about as usefull as a CCP dev.
I don't care how many new things they put into this game from here on in, they can turn the damn thing into Wow Space sim, give us new ships, guns, heat, swords, elves and frekkin wizzards. Merge with other companys, hold fan fests, hold Eve TV with thats hosted by people that appear to think it's ok to post with alts and just say sorry on a major event and have a video stream that people paid for that goes up and down more times then british hooker, Post dev blogs that are so full of details, empty promises and BS, get the player base to bug report something that should have been tested by the makers of the game, set up eve china and start watching the bank ballance numbers rise.. Yes this is a rant... FFS FIX THE ***GIN GAME FIRST!!!!ONE!!!!ONETHOUSAND.
And yes this is an alt my main account was turned off on DEC25, so this would technical be my main.. wierd that.
No i'm not leaving, I remember when this game was great to play,
But hey I'm sure CCP's answer to this ill be to lock this thread and dump it into the many others they decide to ignore.
