I'm a casual player - that is, I play maybe a few hours a night, not every day and I sometimes quit the game for months at a time. I'm not really a big earner, in fact I can safely say in all my Eve career I've probably earned about as much as I've lost. I earn it in small amounts and lose it big. It just so happens I'm relatively up at the moment (by a few bill). I can't honestly say I care that much about it either. I can take it or leave it and I do often - to play other games (like UT, FPS, stuff like that) or work or study or go out into the big wide world and make merry with my homies.
So can somebody please tell me why it is when I'm traveling through 0.0 in a hauler and I get targeted, or when I get ganked by a camp I couldn't care less about or encounter some red flashing lights at gates, my heart races like it's going to explode out of my chest and my face turns red as a tomato? It's happened so many times I should be used to it by now.
I'm thinking of getting some beta blockers from my doctor. It's a strange phenomenon that I would love to know more about. If anyone can express a theory as to why I don't get these symptoms from any other video game or come to think of it, any other circumstance apart from going out in Leeds on a Friday night, I would appreciate it

Enjoy it while it last. After a lot of PvP experience that feeling will tend to start to fade away.

a true thrill of the hunt moment in gaming for me is playing a Combat Engineer cloaker in Planetside. oh man nothing in EVE will ever surpass sneaking up on someone and dropping a boomer(remote control bomb) at their feet and hitting the switch.

Cyclone v. Cyclone. Kill the enemy just as his friends, a Rook and a Ferox, warp in almost on top of you. No shields left.
Nanophoon with 100m+ in faction kit suddenly gets webbed 10km from the nearest gate with a Nanodomi, Myrmidon, and Stabber bearing down on you.
Sabre v. *anything*
Pod. Implants. Enemy recon on scanner. Scan probes also on scanner. Gatecamps leading out.
There. If you ever find yourself NOT having a heart attack during intense PvP, try one of the above situations. Oh, and I survived all of those, by the by. ;)

Ahhh, you stealth ganker. Do it like a man...sensor shield, melee booster, DL. Sneak in turn on melee booster with TR chainblade. Commence stabbing!

I still get the shakes a lot after pvp. I think a lot of it is from the anticipation of the fight. Nothing else in life gets me so worked up.

The reason why is because death means a lot more in this game than compared to other games.
Therefore when you get shot at, the penalty for dying isn't a few minute walk from the respawn point, but possibly losing several month's work.
This threat of losing so much triggers the fight/flight response, hence why you get the shakes, much like the threat of getting bottled on a night out on the town in Leeds.

lose a few t2 fitted BS in fleet battles in defence of a pos that gets blown up anyway, lose your home, dreads and acesses to 0.0 then try again.. kinda takes the thrill outa everything.
I get my jollies helping newbs lately if you see someone running a quiz in one of the school channels it maybe my alt I usualy give a mill per correct question.
its fun to see them so happy and for a older player a mill aint a big deal but for a week old newb getting to grips with his first kessy its like cristmas morning. (although ive been a bit busy lately the rig trade has taken all my time away). It's great being Amarr, aint it? --------------------------------

Been playing the game for 3 years now. I still get a rush in this game that I just don't get in others. For me it depends on the situation if I get that adrenaline hit. If I'm in an op where someones getting ganked then it's fun for me, but it's not a rush, it's very clinical. But if I'm in a 1v1 or jump into a camp and find myself in the middle of an interdictor bubble (like I did an hour ago) then hell yeah my heart feels like it's gonna jump outta my chest. What a rush!

Been playing a year to the week, I still crap myself.
Roaming in 0.0, I crap myself. Roaming in low-sec I'm tame with. Roaming in my expensive BS with other expensive periphials, I crap myself.
Generally, I play on a toilet.
I hope to never lose it really, and in the coming months, wach the video forums. I'm planning to stain my boxers and, gasp, get some old style hunting in.
:D

We dont really pirate these days, not when we're Contracted anyway. We're in the Mercenary business now, so when we're in 0.0, we just tend to nuke what we can. Depending on the number of us, and whether or not we're contracted, we may ransom.
I used to enjoy ransoming tbh... I need to get some more done, soon as we're not being paid. Lol

I probably mistaken your camp for pirate activity when you were infact on contract so letting me keep the ship woulda been naughty as i coulda carried on down the pipe looking for RA haulers and a little compensation lol, not that RA hired you ofc it was just near there station in N7.
