I can confirm that I also get this issue. Started the Eve client, logged on, undocked and simply warped to a belt in the same system to do some mining (no gate jumps at all)....and it lagged badly, the fps dropping so drastically it was unplayable.
Windows Task Manager showed Eve taking 95% of CPU. I then logged and restarted the Eve client, after which it seemed to be okay. A bit weird as it doesn't seem to be consistent, but it definitely points to some sort of memory leak.
Certainly, since the Revelations patch, the use of memory and CPU seems erratic at best.

I have this problem too, exactly as OP and below. The more i travel the worse it gets, i thought it was lag in systems at first as it happened after leaving 0.0 into empire. Now i know this is not the case i am going to pay more attention to my system stats and bug report my findings. I am currently travelling a hell of a lot, usually at least 100+ jumps per playing time (@4 hours).

Yesterday Me and most of my corpmates using Nvidia (i`m using 6600) had the same FPS problem. We found that most of the times when you warp between objects - FPS drops and most of the times it dont returns to normal levels. Other reason is Joining gang.
In my case with fresh login (after clearing all gamelogs, chatlogs, cache) the fps is around 35-40, joining gang drops it under 30 first 2-3 warps in system drop it to 8 than after the 6th down to 2,3 FPS.

I am not able to reproduce FPS drops the way IizzaBatch described it. Neither on my desktop system (P4, XP, 640 MB RAM) nor on my Notebook (Pentium M, XP, 2 GB RAM).
Usually I am playing a couple of hours every day and especially when pirating I am jumping / warping a lot without any problems.
Yet I am able to generate lag quite easily by turning on sound. Over time FPS will drop to the point where it becomes unplayable. Turning off sound then cures lag instantly.
Sound of Lasers seem to work fastest btw. - go figure.

I don't really know much about computer games, but from what everyone has said it looks like the program is not flushing the memory when it reaches a limit and thus people are getting fps hit as they have every system /station they visited held in the memory thus slowing down the FPS.

it's not when you warp, only when you jump, and only when you jump between busy systems (empire).
I think the server keeps sending the player information from all systems the player has been in, thus making the client process too much data.
Only a speculation, but that's what it seems to be atm.

I experienced this last night but didn't see memory usage go above the usual 230meg footprint per client. One client was jumping through empire whislt the other was active in one system. Both dropped down to below 10fps or so every 20minutes. Relogging sorted this out temporarily.

erm thats the main hardware that memory chomps anyway. Usually im up at some ridiculous fps way over 75.

I have also (and other corp mates) noticed that when entering an NPC area, the more NPCs that lock you at the same time the longer freeze you will get(cleint freezes when any NPCs lock you), 4 or 5 NPCs in a group, 1 or 2 seconds freeze, but if you enter an area where a huge group agro it will freeze for insane amounts of time, in one of the new exploration complexes, 2 ships were popped in one day and another of an alliance mate due to this, didnt even get time to warp out, next visible frame was us in our pods, the first ship pop i warped in and saw the ships and started to lock, soon as they locked me i froze, 2nds instance i warped in to the site and floze instantly before even seing enemies, next frame, me in a POD
That's gotta be the best proof yet for major memory leak issues. The two client mining op I can attest to, you can automatically tell when you've run out of memory because as it caches off to the hdd it locks both clients up. --------- Gallente need ONE ship with an ecm bonus option. JUST ONE. |

oh and by the way I also get a strange bug with overview, when some overview items get duped, and then extra entries stay there until dock... I don't remember this happening so frequently before. Maybe it has something to do with this thread's bug.

So have logged in since the early downtime this morning did a 13 point jump back to Osmeden, by the time I got there the fps was so bad it would be dangerous to take a ship out. This seems to be change since last night.

Update:
:ogged on my alt to move him after dt. Four Jumps: Nausschie to troq, Troq to Duripant, Duripant to Renyn, Renyn to Pakhshi.
Started with the 28fps rate I've been getting since Revalations (lost 25fps in the expansion, but that's a whole other discussion)
First Jump, down to 22. Second jump went down to 17. Third jump dropped it to 11, last jump I was at 7.7 fps. Docked, logged, came here. --------- Gallente need ONE ship with an ecm bonus option. JUST ONE. |

OK, we seem to have two good threads on this matter. Unfortunately I cant merge them together, so im going to lock this one but link to it in this thread so you players (and devs) can still read it.
Please continue the discussion in this thread so we keep it in one place. Thanks. :)

Thats a good point. I have an Nvidia GF 7800 GT. We should also see if people that get this problem are also using primarilly Nvidia cards.

This problem just started happening to me too.
I think it has something to do with the area I'm in (region), cause, for the past month or longer, I'd been doing mining operations (and some missions) in Derelik region. Never had a problem, jumped and jumped and jumped, no performance loss.
Now I've moved to Genesis/Essence to do some higher missions with my battleship and this problem has popped up for me. Severe performance loss on every single jump. Restarting the client makes it go away, until you do a few jumps then it starts getting unbearable.
System specs: Intel P4 2.4ghz 1GB Memory ATI Radeon 9550 (Catalyst version 1.2.2475.36837)
After looking through all the similar performance problem threads, I've tried 'clearing the cache', and double checked my video card's IRQ usage to ensure nothing else is sharing it. Clearing the cache had no effect. IRQ is not being shared.
Wanted to also add, I'd done many many jumps in Metropolis and Heimatar and never experienced a problem. It's definitely seems to have coincide with me running missions out of Genesis/Essence.
If I feel upto it, I'll make a trip back to Rens and see if the problem magically goes away, and report back here.
