Ok now this might sound weird to you since i haven't heard of an actual confirmed case of hacking or cheating in eve yet, but i do believe i just expierenced one, i was fly with my alt in a Occator with all T2 expanders (2 in the hold to accomodate for some stabs) and a Estamel Modified Cloak on board, rather pricey, i warped to the Konora gate and saw a pirate in a Typhoon sitting there, since i didn't really want him to follow me through into the low sec i thought i'd sit and wait, hopefully he'd get bored at staring at me and fire a shot then i could jump through without him following me, but no, i landed about 2-3k's from him when i came out of warp at the gate, he didn't even lock me, he did however ram me, he went from a complete stand still to ramming my Occator out to 1.7k/s, so he accelerated enough to do that within 2-3k's? i don't think that's right, can anyone think of any module (even the newly changed inertial damps) that could afford a BS that kind of acceleration? i don't think so, but anyways, after he rammed me out from the gate i realise i wasn't locked, so i hit the cloak, i cloaked, he swung back into ram me againabout 2 seconds later barely missing me and decloaking me, he didn't have enough point for a scram but he continued to ram me, my Occator was staying at about 1k/s due to this ramming and being pushed all over the place, no chance to align to warp out, he popped me finally, 200 or so mil down the drain, question is how the hell did a BS get that much acceleration in such a short distance, then continue to be all over me more than a inty would, i think there's some cheating going on here, something isn't right and i sure hope CCP finds out what it is, if it is cheating, i hope that he is permabanned, if it turns out to be all within the standard modules of the game, then damn, i'm going to get me one, the lameness never ceases, ramming to stop people from warping, i guess that's why pirates are pirates, they don't mind being lame. ----------------------------------------------- "Acta non Verba"

if it really was 1.7km/s from standing in 3km, then id say thats definitely dodgy. no combination of modules, implants and skills i can think of would give that level of acceleration in a BS 0.o

Edited by: Spy4Hire on 24/12/2006 11:18:24 *LOL* Not an exploit or a hack... it's called just what you said: Ramming.
A typhoon is inherantly fast and nimble for a BS, and when you load the lows with nanofibers it can really zip. And all it needs is about 2km to be at a speed quite easily capable of bumping something as light as a hauler several kilometers with one hit. Because you sat still he was freely able to take aim. If you want to avoid that, set your ship to orbit the gate at 500 meters and the typhoon won't have the agility to hit you easily... though a good cruiser might.
So, watch out, and next time just hit the gate and keep on running.
Though the gate guns should have absoltuely raped a nanophoon when it opened fire... even in 0.1 because it has almost no resistances.

ive just redone the sums. me made a teensy maths error xD
assuming constant acceleration (i know its not in eve =P) s 3km t - u 0km/s v 1.7km/s a ?km/s/s
v^2=u^2 + 2as 2.89=6a a= 481m/s^2
thats just about attainable in a BS, and as acceleration in eve is non linear, the actual acceleration for this frame would likely be more extreme.

It seems like alot of EVE is gravitating towards - grind skill X for whatever amount of time - click a button to apply skill X
Given that, I'd hardly label something that actually takes some player know how to use as "lame". Sure, if it was just another skill, Ramming Level 5, grind that out and get in a fast BS and woohoo!! Teh winzor! Yeah, that'd be lame.
But to actually train up the appropriate skills, put a ship together to accomodate that style of play, and then use it successfully? Pretty darn cool imo.

As for the acceleration, entirely possible. And how'd it go from being rammed in hisec (as you make it seem like, with the blabber about a lowsec gate) to dying?

Are you actually trying to compare a virtual loss in a game, a game that encourages building and destruction, with a real accident where a human being is injured?
Seriously, take a deep breath and rethink it.

Take a step back, and look at what he did, and look at what you're doing.
You flew an undefended hauler around low sec, and got yourself trashed by a player who knew what he was doing and acted fast, while clearly understanding the way the game works much more than you. Do you really think he was getting off on you being unhappy?
He got an officer fitted hauler kill on christmas Eve, complete with t2 expanders. You just made his christmas, and all you can think about is getting him banned? WHAT KIND OF JOY HATING FACIST ARE YOU?
If there was a fire in an orphanage on Christmas day, I bet you'd laugh!

I'm pretty sure it's easily possible, only the other day I saw a phoon go from 15km from the gate to about 300km off in about 30 seconds, doing something like 8.5km/s.

I copied this quote from the bio of a character named Sienna. Sienna was apparently quoting Rudyard Kipling, so I'm not too awfully worried about losing cool points for copying someone else's bio. Anyway, I keep it in my bio now to remind me what EVE should be should I get too freaked out about something.
"If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And never breathe a word about your loss..." --Rudyard Kipling
I think it's a pretty fitting sentiment for EVE. Maybe you should put it in your bio. Maybe it'll catch on.

I was going from N-RAEL out to Konora, i didn't want him following me through, we'll see what the petition comes up with about his uberramming, sure i might have made his Christmas but i've just lost 200mil of stuff i've worked for, and i do mean worked for, game or not sitting in a belt mining and/or NPCing is work, i don't enjoy it one bit, so i had to work to get that stuff and some ***** takes that away, and on christmas eve of all days!!! i've had just about enough this game, it's becoming over crowded and lame, warfare is all gank now and no fun, to many kids play and all the seriousness has left the game. ----------------------------------------------- "Acta non Verba"

First of all this is a game which promotes the big bangs. Yes, you lost a valuable ship. Im sorry for that, but to start calling people who plays the game for people who smash you ingame for predators in real life is just to take it a bit too far. After all this is a PvP game!!!
For example. I was at this years fanfest on Iceland where I met Istvaan Shogutsu. That man have got a pretty vile reputation. But in real life he is a great guy I had a small conversation with. The morale in the story? NEVER MIX REAL LIFE AND GAME LIFE!
I have lost valable ships too. My last ship was a T2 fitted Deimos I lost. That loss sent like 360 million isk straight into the sink! Did I complain about the bastards who podded me on the forums? Heck NO! I did a lot of swearing to myself tho. But then, looking back on it, I had only myself to blame. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR ENEMY! And never blame your enemies for your own mistakes!!

If you choose to play EVE on Christmas, expect to get killed on Christmas. Also, this is one of those kills that took actual player skills. That guy deserved his killed. You're just a whiney baby who got his toy taken away. Toughen up, ffs!

P.S.: It's pretty easy nowadays to bring BS at that kind of speed and it really makes the Eve combat fast paced. Love it.

You sat in n-rael(0.0) rather than jumping through to konora(0.4?) because you thought a phoon would shoot and kill your T2 hauler in lowsec?
You only have yourself to blame.
