Right, but several corp members have not done any storyline missions for any faction; in this case, because they have no standing, they will not be counted toward the corp average standing, correct?
Correct ..

To add to this give them +3 Int and +2 Mem on creation, then train cybernetics to level 2, throw on +3 implants (on Int & Mem) and youÆve got 22.44 Int and 13.26 Mem only 3 hours out of the box. EveMon says to train Instant Recall to 3 (5.5 hours +1 Mem) and then you can get Science IV, Research IV, Metallurgy IV, SN, and Adv Lab Ops III in only 6 days 20 hours, 13 days 20 hours if you go for Adv Lap Ops IV. The skills you need to buy will cost about 30M, since you ran missions to get standing you probably have a stack of implants laying around somewhere.
ThatÆs fast enough that you can use one of the extra character slots and get a pretty good research alt with only a week or two of skill training diverted from the main character. If a really dedicated research character you get 31.94 Int and 24.23 Mem with the learning skills maxed and +4 implants. With those attributes it would take 25 days 12 hours to take Sc, Re, Met, & AdLadOp all to level 5 from scratch. 20 days 5 hours for each Engineering/Physics skill from level 0 to 5 (16 days 15 hours for each level 5).

I didn't check that, I was thinking they needed lvl 2. I left out the training time for +4's and learning skills.

Correct. If they don't appear in the "show compositions" section, they don't count. Only those with standing (positive or negative) will count. Weird as it seems, the guy who worked hard but still have a 4.5 standing need to be temporaly left out of the corp, while the lazy-arse with 0.0 standing could stay.
I can't confirm why they implement it that way. But IMO it seems they took into account that some people have alts who do nothing but refining, hauling or some non-important stuff. These alts don't have standings but should not count cuz they are just alts. But that's only my theory. |

I had a few quick questions that I haven't been able to find an answer yet:
1) If your corporation standing towards the empire faction falls below 5.0 (if you're in a 0.5 system), do you then lose Concord protection? You'll just need to put up defences to defend it since it won't be Concord protected anymore, is that true?
2) If you let your CT go offline due to lack of fuel, but your faction standing is still good (above 5.0 if you're in a 0.5 system I guess), will you still have Concord protection? I'm just wondering what will happen if I create a single person corp, deploy a POS in empire, then can't play the game for a month, will my station get blowd up or will it "expire" if it's just sitting there offline for too long?
Thanks for the guide, I am just starting to look into the empire POS and it helped a lot!

To All:
I have uploaded a new version with some more Q/A and more details on some of the old ones. I'm still looking for help to make a list of what can be anchored where, if you want to contribute, contact me in-game.
To Ezlo Murkin:
About your questions...
1) If your corp standings falls below the required number, concord will still respond to any attack on the POS. I just tested again a few minutes ago, with the corp standings below 2.0 and concord showed up in less than 5 seconds. A full concord armada detroyed the alt's velator in one voley.
2) I haven't tested (nor I will) but I read reports of people getting concordokken for attacking offline POS in high sec. That was a month ago, Dec 2006. However, I'm sure you can not leave a POS offlined forever. Must likely, somebody will find out and if it has been offlined for months, I guess it's petitionable and a GM could take the POS off the map. Just as they do with the secure cans anchored at the moons. But's that's only IMHO.
And remember there's an old EVE motto, here in POS version: "Don't anchor anything you can't afford to lose". Even more, the moment you undock on your industrial with the Control Tower in your cargo bay, consider it lost. Anyone can gank you from that point and destroy it.
Also remember that if an offline POS gets attacked by something like a ganka-raven, most likely a few Labs will be destroyed before concord shows up. Concord responds to attacks, but do not prevent them.

I have a proplem. I'm in a newly startet corp, with only goal to setup a reserch POS. we are 4 guys, mixed of friends friends, and like that. baseline is that i never trust people when it comes to ISK ingame, I have been scammed a few times, and lost alot of isk that way. I read the forum the past few days, and you'r PDF, very nice indeed!! you cant rent out slots to other persons or corps, and you cant use a personal hangar, but only a corp hangar. My current CEO have made it such that we each got a corphangar witch only I "and the CEO" have acces to. That itself is cool, if I were the CEO, but since I dont trust anyone anymore. hmm. I would hate to wakeup one day and notice that the CEO ran off with all my capital ship BPO's and my corpmates BPO's aswell. Question is now :) BPO lockdown, if you lockdown a BPO, can it still be reserched, or is it just lying around in the hangar, locked? How much does it takes to get it unlocked again, like, can the CEO just unlock it and take off? is it share-controlled? I dont think my CEO would ever do that, but I'm always thinking worst case scenerio. When I get more BPO's I'll prolly make my own corp, but I'm just a little interrestet in how it all works :D
Thanks. Konnichi Wa.

First a big Thanks to Shameless Avenger for his excellent work on doing his FAQ. The second goes to CCP for letting us do POS-work in highsec and breath a little of the industrial air. I'm sure some of us want more and this is a start to lowsec thingies :)
Q) I usualy name my ships "worstcase", and i think of the day when CCP cuts off the concord protection for my station. So what setting for guns, autocannons, lasers or stasis, scramble, torpedo, cruise and all the other pretty things that are available for POS defense should i use with my little small tower and 3 labs arround it ?
P.S.: I know that some of the above is simple impossible trough the lack of CPU and that i can leave defensive structure offline, online it later while removing a lab. But what should i anchor ? :)
3rd Thanks to the person who makes this clear.

#27 in the FAQ, I can confirm that if you start a new corp, it is not born with your standings. Furthermore it will just sit there indefinitely until you do a mission for NPC standings or a storyline for Faction standings.
For confirmation check out the corp im in at the moment. I have done no missions since forming it.

Might put in some sample configurations, tips on the process of management (fuel, swapping guns, etc), for those who have never managed a POS.
Great job.

Few questions: What standings cross over from membership to corp standings, natural, or adjusted with connections? Also, how likely is it that someone would bother attempting to take down a large research POS with some defenses(Read: 5~ large arties with ewar equip) in .5+?

Nice FAQ. One minor change I would advise. Anchoring skill to level three and not one. It's "must have" in 0.0 for med bubbles and it allows full coverage of all the POS modules.

"You cannot anchor that structure because [insert faction], who hold sovereignty, require your corporation to have a standing of [insert standing] from them. Your corporation's standing is too low at 0.0."
Just wanted to add a confirmation to your post. -----

Edited by: martinand on 23/01/2007 12:28:45 Edited by: martinand on 23/01/2007 12:23:43 Formula in PDF says:
Daily Standing Change = (Average Standings û Current Standings) / 4
The character i created a corp with has 9.95 faction standing.. and is alone in corp.. trying to put up a POS right away.. i got the message Max mentioned above with a 0.0 faction standing.
so for first downtime that would mean (9.95-0.00) / 4 = 2,4875 for first downtime?
however.. after the first downtime.. the standing was 4.35.. is the formula wrong.. or am i just using it wrong?
EDIT: (9.95-0.00) / 4 = 2.4875 (9.95-2.4875) / 4 = 1,865625
2.4875+1,865625 = 4,353125
so.. the first day without downtime.. counts too i guess

Hmm, I thought that if you had a T2 item that you could increase the number of items produced per day if you did manufactured them in a POS.
I was thinking of setting one up for T2 production and BPO research.

I did it once as CEO and once as a member with my alt as CEO (alt with no standings) and the speed was the same.

Furthermore you appear to only get standings with corps that you ran a mission for in your new corp. I just made my corp and it only has standings with the 3 corps + Concord and the four agents that I did some missions for since creating the corp. The other 31 corps that I have standings with didnÆt show up. I donÆt mind that the other 85 agents I have standings with didnÆt show up. It seems that it is simply a matter of doing a mission for the agent because one of the agents my corp has standings to is the storyline agent, which I have standings with from Angel Strike missions, but the mission I did while in the corp was a courier (no standings with agent) type mission.
Just one storyline looks like it does the trick with faction standing though (derived mods make that one mission kick-start all faction standing towards your corp). I ran a storyline the same day I made the corp, and havenÆt done any missions since then and all the faction standings are updating nicely.

Two things from my own experience:
1. I cannot drop a reactor in .5 2. I used an alt to attack my corp's POS (alt is not in corp) and although the POS popped me, I never saw any intervention from Concord - furthermore I thought it has been written in other threads before this one on the same subjuct suggesting that Concrod does not protect high sec POS.

I too would like to know if a POS would stay online when the corp that originally installed it is desolved. Would it move with the original owner from the old corp (now defunct) to his/her new corp?
Thanks! Cagimus

In high sec, the POS can only be set to shoot if attacked or to shoot war targets. If a neutral warps in, nothing will happen to him. |

Can confirm that, warped to someone else's pos in a 0.6 and the guns didnt shoot me, but i was unwilling to lock it and see if that caused the pos to shoot me as was in a expensive ship. So does any1 know if locking a pos is a form of agroe?
