What's the closest thing to Eve ?
Star Trek?
Babylon 5?
Star Wars?
Stargate: SG1 (or Atlantis)?
Space: Above and Beyond?
The Twilight Zone? 
I only ask since I downl... bought the entire Babylon 5 collection (every episode, every movie, and that one witht he Excalibur that I cant remember the name of) and it struck me: it takes days to take over an enemy solar system - the ships use "jump gates" or some such - note, I've not watched B5 before other than a few episodes I caught about 10 years ago - They have missiles, lasers and all that.
Yup, I think, if Eve Online was a TV show, it would be closest to Babylon 5.
The Jovians could be the Shadows ;)

Sci-tech wise i'd probably take B5 aswell.
But for just general feel i'd go for firefly.

I'd go for BSG, Only because one one side is about to get whipped, all there ships just vanish...

Oops forgot about Firefly.
What about FarScape?
Also... yes, nBSG is pretty close to Eve, tech wise (except warp, shields, lasers and stuff - but the Caldari ships remind me of nBSG)

I agree except that the Jovians would be closer to the Minbari.
Better than the rest of us but not godlike.

I'd have to say B5 meets Firefly. The rich tapestry of intermingling races and distinct traditions meets the gritty live by the seat of your pants frontier vision.
Would say the Jovians are the Vorlons though, they pretend to be disintersted untill something gets their attention, then they annihilate it and go back into seclusion. Shadows are most likely on the other side of the Eve Gate, just waiting for their moment. 
Although there is a lot of "shadow" serpentis equipment turning up, perhaps they are closer than anyone suspects.

BSG for sure.
Definitely not any of the Stargate series, they might have ships but there isnt enough ship vs ship combat.

Firefly i mean Minmatar ships do resemble reaver ships..... Osprey does resemble an inverted firefly class and oddly enough a Heron kinda looks like an Alliance Cruiser.
