Looking for some input into my dread setup. I have used it recently without any problems but feedback from experienced dread pilots would be appreciated.
Hi - 3 Citadel Launchers, Seige Module Mid- Capital SB, Tech2 EM/Therm/Kin Hardners, Tech2 Invul, Dread Gurista Amp, Cap Recharger II Low - 3 PDU2, Coprocessor II, Named Damage Control
2 Cap recharging rigs (the 15% ones)
Couple questions: 1) How about using 2 Shield boosters and droping the cap recharger? 2) Should I add another cap recharging rig or is there a better one to use instead?
Any other constructive feedback or other setups are welcome. Please remember to explain why you would make a change if alternate setups are posted.

Fit a third cap rig.
Also you aren't going to have a fast enough recharge to run one booster, let alone two boosters whilst loosing a cap recharger.

I agree, Dual sheild boosters is utterly unsustainable.
and yes, 3 cap recharge rigs.
an alternate setup:
Standard highs,
Cap Sheild Booster 2x Faction/Deadspace boost amps EM/Therm/Kin Hardners Invuln Field
5x Cap power relays.
3x Cap recharge Rigs
The boost amps cancel out the penalty from the CPRs, and you end up with a boost amount thats a tad higher than normal as well as being able to run your Booster permamantly. -----

My only quibble with this is the "run your booster permanently". It's true...but only outside of siege. In siege, you'll need to manage a bit, but it should be no problem.
As for the setup, he pretty much nailed mine aside from the fact that I use named CPRs (they give more cap recharge than T1 post-Kali) and I use cap max rigs to increase my effective recharge rate while having more starting cap to work with and also having a larger peak recharge area. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! Oops I had forgotten about the seige bonuses
I'd just think of it like a big Raven, you'll be able to tank most things without constantly boosting, just dont let your cap fall below 30% and you should be fine. -----

Now I have read that the Phoenix can be a really mean Anti-BS Dred, almost as good as the Moros at Anti-BS. I think you need something like 5 med target painting drones to bring a BS's sig over 1000m. Also I guess it helps if the BS is webbed. Anyone have any input on this? ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!

this is prolly what I'd fit, except maybe change the DCU for another PDU, also I'd change all rigs to cap regen rig since it adds more to your cap/sec

I have the save high and low fitting, but i cant fit the Amplifiers because lack of CPU... do you use implants or specially Faction mods with low CPU requirements?
i have try a setup with T2 stuff... when i fit the cap booster with 3 T2 hardeners i have 3 low slots free and 43.75 CPU left. It's great to be a Caldari....

Try using some Gist C-Type hardeners, they are cheap, only 0.5% worse than T2 and use a LOT less cpu.

So is it possible for a Phoenix to work against BSes and command ships by itself? Let's assume you have a ton of cash and fit two officer webs, leave out the sensor boosters and scram from this setup, and fit it like this:
Hi: 3x Citadel, Siege Mod Mid: 3x TP II, 2x Officer Webs, 1x Booster, 1x Invul Field, 1x Boost Amp Low: Damage Control, maybe BCUs, Cap Relays
TP Drones
This is probably moronic but I think it would be funny to see one in action anyway. Could this setup one-volley a BS? Are the target painter drones needed? Are 3x TP II needed, or could one be dropped to add more shield mods?

yes its possible to one volley bs with a solo phoenix setup and if I had tons of money I would probably give it a try for the hell of it, but you really do need support to utilize this one, 1 or 2 helpers in certain recons can help alot minmatar/gallente comes to mind.
also if you wanna do this solo you cannot do it without atleast 2 t2 sensor boosters as even a battleship can warp off before you finish locking em

Actually, the issue is not about folks attacking undocking dread, it about folks attacking any ship next to station.
Typical scenario is a bait acting stupid next to station, then tackling the attacker and launching a cyno. Some 30-60 seconds to kill the target, depending on his situational awareness.
Now you just need a dread with anti-BS setup. Reckon Ryysa had a valid suggestion for that.

for the undock game (might seem familiar to you)
3x Ion Blasters (XL)/ 3x Neutron Blaster cannon II (L), siege Module 1x SB II/1x passive targer/3x cap II/SB II/nice disruptor/nice web or even more SB.. 1x capital armor repairer II/Armor Kin/Therm/Exp II/EANM II/DCU II/Mag stab II/capital armor repairer/dmg mods
Use antimatter for the capital blasters, since that's the best dmg ammo for most part of your effective range.
Use neutrons if you dont want to siege (since you cant dock while siege anymore). Use ions + siege if you want to insta-pop people that dont suspect the passive targete
You can also use a phoenix (or naglfar) and lock, fire torps, then siege. They will still hit for full dmg if you are close enough..

It's a bit triky to find the Estamel CPU Vespa's will also do. But since your fiting a 2 B ships you can invest another 1B in the fittings .
The DG Amps are more of a show off t2 will work just fine. If you're worried about Cap you shoud know that only the SB takes cap so don't worry about it that much . If you get nosed you shoud know that you'll die anyway if you don't have suport.
You're also boosting 24K shields in one go in siege mode so no need for a second SB. And you're siting behind 400K shields so if you're not NOSed to hell and back you shoud be fine. Even a well prepared fleed will take some time to penetrate that amount of shields.
Also Crystal set dosen't work whit Capital SB so that won't help you however there are 3 implants that are prety cheap and can help you whit the tank. Some inplant experts might know. I don't have the rare ones (whit sily unknown names ) , but i think there are some implants to help you whit the RoF.
Enjoy

It's a bit of a shame that your dmg sucks if you dont use siege mode.
Or were you intending to being remote repped while in siege mode? that doesnt work too good, although i'd happily fight you when you count on it to work :P

If you fit the lows with 5 shiled power relays and have the rigs with Core Defence Field Extender I could you not get a pretty nice passive tank even though it would make the use of siege mode kind of pointless execpt for damage and ew protection? |
