While I can't really say much about how much money you got, I can say that limited availability is good. What's the point of cool things if everyone got it?
Guess why some people prefer absurdly expensive big trucks that can't fit regular road as a goddamned camper? Because screw you, that's why.
As for paying for vanity, how you feel about buying "golden" mechs that behaves the same as usual ones? For $500 each?
