Edited by: Rooker on 16/01/2007 18:52:49 Dear CCP, our uber and 1337 overlords,
Please remove the ******* clouds and dust from mission deadspaces.
1) You are ruining my eyes by forcing them to squint against an ENORMOUSLY bright background to see much smaller objects. 2) It lags my framerate further in an already laggy situation. I have the 2nd or 3rd most powerful video card ever made (Nvidia 7950) and a very large CPU, so if it lags me out, obviously you've gone overboard. 3) I can't zoom out because I'm surrounded by the clouds. That means I can't get a look at the overall situation and I can't stay zoomed out to reduce lag.
Example: Start Blockade lvl4 vs Serpentis. Warp in. Zoom out. Explain how those huge, opaque, lag-inducing clouds are in any way necessary or acceptable.

Sure, things look pretty, but I don't want to look at a picture that is showing 2 frames per second.

My fps drops in half when doing missions. So please CCP for the love of god give me the option of an "on or off" button in the graphics menu.

I keep luminosity dow but the yellow clouds are painful, I usally do most of the mission only looking overview and that is dangerous, with all the bugs overview has developed lately.

Have to agree, most of them are fine but the supper bright ones are so bright they make my eyes water. The darker ones are fine, it's just the really bright ones.

I'm not sure about the FPS or the lag for the clouds but 1 thing though it is not pleasing to the eye. I do squint my eyes and its forceful to them and I hate them...
amen to the petition.
NOTE: an option in the graphic menu would be very useful.

Soooooooo signed! Pretty much every game has an option to turn off FPS-killing eye-candy like that, why doesn't EVE? Since my comp is rather old, I am suffering quite badly from that :( --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

Keep the roids in, alot of players mine them. As far as the clouds, ff their to bright to look at, do a camera pan away from them or turn down your brightness. I prefer panning the camera myself. As far as the frame rate hit, I haven't noticed. By the way, having the best visdeo card on the market aint the only thing that will boost your frame rate.

Not signed. An option to turn these things off might be nice, but I don't mind it. Hell I even like it a bit. Space is pretty bleak, keeping it spruced up cant hurt if you have the option of tuning it down.

while I do understand the argument, I can't sign.
Missions would be bleak without the clouds. And while frames do drop a bit when your in the middle of one (60-45), it's not so bad that things are unplayable. And I'm using a 7900gt, 2gb mem, and an x2 4800 (a rather mild setup these days). Note that I play at 1280x1024, AAx8, AFx16, and all other goodies maxed (through driver settings).
I do understand the gripe from those with older/slower systems, but I won't sign a petition to kill the clouds. A disable option however seems to be in order.

The cluds dont bother me that much.
I do wish we had an option to turn off the sun flaring however, its really hurting my eyes being honest. Its a nice feature and it does look nice sometimes but it should be a toggle option rather than "have some sun!!!!"

Doubt it's being caused by the clouds and overkill on the asteroids tough, i think its caused by ccp and their "Windows 95" [/sarcasm] engine, about time they update their graphical engine.

I am 99% certain it is the clouds. I am having trouble with too much smoke, clouds and stuff in other games too. But there I can turn them off... As for the guys with 'mild' ubersystems, please get a grip, not everyone is graced with the power of a wallet to afford a high end system. And I am sure the people who want the clouds gone really mean an option to turn them off too, not a blanket removal. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! There are some missions where my eve just freezes as I come out of warp, for 5-20+ seconds. Would be nice to have an option to turn off the clouds, so they dont help to lag me out.

this could be an option but, not something that should be straight up removed. personally, even with a radeon 9800pro i don't see them as a big issue in terms of lag/fps. what i might see as an issue with them is possibly when warping into the grid they might cause some loading issues. this isn't a graphically intensive game...if there is lag or frame loss it's usually something else causing it 90% of the time.
