i've had 3 ppl log off on me yesterday, to save there ships, eavon had an ateron logoff on me today (gate camping with a dictor, loging to escape the bubble). imo, this has gone too far. we keep hearing promise from ccp that there going to do something about it, when?, why wasnt it in the k1?
sorrey, dont usaly make forum post, but it angors me alot, when ppl logoff to save there skin, and theres absulutly nothing you can do about it.
a few other dictor bubble changes i sujest:-
bubbles should stop warp, eavon after they have hit the warp button, but not gone into warp yet. (like a scrambler would)
allow bubles to pull ppl out of warp, eavon if the bubbles has bean deployed after they have enterd warp, to some extent.
would be nice to have T2 bubles/T2 sphere launcher, with a 24km radious.
also like to point out, that the nerf, which stops you launching another probe for 20 seconds before the previous probe has disapeared, renders the dictors sphere launcher ROF bonuse useless. (may have been done to combat the bug where dictor bubles canceled each other out?, should fixed seperatly imo).
hope some of my points were constructive

Would be kind of cool to sticky a thread about this to prevent a new thread appearing every 2 hours about the subject...

Why dont we get an official CCP responce for this subject? Not only logging off after starting the combat, but this STUPID FRACKING WORD 'logoffski' has to be ended. Who thought of this word? Was he polish? or does it mean skiing down a mountain on a log hopeing you dont fall off? either way it is not a word used by mature people.
But I also have to remind every one the original player guide states..."If you get in above your head...just log off"
Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter pirate or mixture of them all.

Because the GMs would form a mob to go after the poster of that sticky.
Originally by: Roshan longshot Either way it is not a word used by mature people.
It destribes a unmature tactic so it fits I guess.

Yeah but then every single other forum would be empty.
As for logging off:
1) Death penalty in EVE is very high. 2) There is NO other way to escape a bubble once in it.
Combination of those 2 factors are what makes logoffski happen. If CCP made logoffski impossible without changing either of those 2 factors then it would have a drastic effect on the game. Prepare to spend a LOT longer in your gatecamps with no targets at all.

Moving out of it usually works.

I laugh when I hear people complain about logging off. What do you expect? Eve game mechanics provide so many reasons to do it - far more than sticking around to watch the Pew Pew. Think about it - often you are dead or alive according to how you fit in station and whether or not you hit the wrong place at the wrong time. No chance. Just dead. Scrambled, bubbled, webbed, disrupted, nossed, bumped - and thats all before the firing starts. Really, I'm sure less people would log if they were given at least a chance.

when i say gate camp, i mean it in very lose way, 90% of combat hapens at gates (atleast for me), i could just be dropeing a bubble (setting up camp)on my way past, because i saw the gate go, etc.

Don't be disingenuous.
Moving out of a bubble in anything slower than a fast frigate, interceptor or nanoBS isn't going to happen and you know it full well.

If you can keep your ship you'd be stupid not to. and gate campers, please dont start with the "honor" argument. You're blobbing people at gates, honor isnt in your vocabulary.

The only way to handle it is to prevent the emergency warp while in a bubble. Prevent the disconnect is not an option since it makes little difference to close the client or to kill the task. As long as nothing is done about it, it seems like a perfectly fine way to save ship/pod even if it is considered lame. But so what, if I log, I safe my stuff and I could care less about the opinion of the person who is trying to kill me. If you stick around to get killed, you are just proving that you were not smart enough to log off. There a few possible scenarios: 1) An enemy tries to kill me and I know I cannot win. Why stick around and just die when the logoff might even have a positive effect (from my point of view), he gets annoyed and will get most likely sloppy when in rage. 2) Same as 1) just a pirate this time. Sure I will log off, since I am denying him the fun in his griefing gameplay. 3) An enemy logs off, so I cannot kill him. Well it is at least part of a win, since you prevent the enemy from playing this char. 4) I am a pirate and someone runs, sure not as much fun as looting, but I cannot really blame them, since what I do is not really on high morale standard, so calling a logging person lame is hypocrisy. 5) I am any of the above and make the 34215th post with a whine about it and at least the community will laugh at me.
See, there is always a winner, is this perticular case, us.

Do you propose he sits at a moon with his dictor and hopes someone happens along?

well, in which case, they should replace the logoffski, with a valid ingame tacktic, which doesnt involve logging off. but logging off itself should not be part of the game mechanics to avoid combat imo.

The bubbles excists for a reason. To help you hinder unwanted people entering a system. It's like "I dont like how a thing in Eve works so I cheat my way around it". Similar scenarious: Oh, he has ECM and I don't like that,so I log. Ah, I don't like the way missiles work and the one attacking me is using missiles, so I log.
If you get caught in a bubble-gate-camp you have yourself to blaim and you shouldnt be able to log your way out of a situation like that.

The solution is easy.
- Ctrl + q will not work in a bubble (no warping out) - Pod can normally warp out of a bubble (Jovian technology, less nerf, most ppl log off to safe implants)
There, fixed without nerfing travelers too much.
Oh and logoffski sounds like a russian tactic ;]

Signed. Stop it. It's a rediculous game mechanics in a pvp game, if you can just counter death last second by logging. Non-consentual pvp ? Surely not with ctrl-q.
Don't care about the whiners who want to keep ctrl-q. It's just a cheat that doesn't belong into this game. ______________ *need new sig* |

You assume that you have the right to go anywhere you like without being harmed it seems. Sorry, you haven't. If 10 players say: 'We don't let you go there' for whatever reason, then it's fair game. Like if they want to destroy your ship to get your loot. Don't like it, get some friends and kill them. Otherwise stay away or risk to get killed. I wonder what's so hard to understand about it. This power was given to the players in EVE and it's intended.

You can't always know a bubble is at a gate, and if you jump though a gate and find it's got a bubble on it, your going to log before your auto-cloak runs out.
Gate Camping for system defence is one thing, but mass blob gate camping vital routes is pretty lame. However the game dynamics allow it, just like they allow for people to log off.
If you gate camp for any reason other than system defence, then you can't try and claim the moral high ground and moan that people log when in a bubble. Personally it's common sense, blob = death, and unless your in an inty, you'll never get out of the bubble except by logging. If your not happy, get CCP to change the game dynamics to give people more options of getting out of bubbles.
