It's sad how a TS full of males reacts and all of a sudden that girl is a director and people toss isk at her, only talk to her and no one else. I mean, i would bet if every other male player stopped trying to get them in bed over the internet it wouldn't be the same.
This is the real issue preventing more widespread acceptance of MMOGs among women. Less "omg a gurl! Let's cyber, k?" please. Back when I still played WoW with my fiancee, I couldn't count how many creepy obsessive types professed their undying love for her after a few weeks of hearing her speak on Vent, starting in with the PMs trying to 'get to know her' (i.e. confessing their entire life story and fishing for attention), and acting like she belongs to them (including ****ing matches with the other stalkers). She's wonderful, I certainly love her, but these creeps don't even know her, and it's gotten to the point that she's wanted to just quit the game before and spent a lot of time hiding on alts because these guys are doing the whole "Nobody loves me, I love you even though I don't know you, please say you love me too or I'll go kill myself" thing.
The internet is full of creepy doods.
To be honest my friends and I heavily harassed this girl in cs spamming ****/gtfo just to mess with her oddly enough it sparked a conversation . I also only did that because she was in the same room and I felt like messing with her

Of course I like girls. I also like champaigne, caviar, and driving a Lexus.
But for the purposes of Eve, there are no genders only Business and War.
This is a poor choice for someone just looking for a "game."
Its not a "game" so much as a hobby, like maintaining a website, its alot of work but its fun work for those who are nerdy enough to appreciate it.
Unless you are a total sci-fi nerd, space nerd, math nerd etc, most likely you will simply balk at the learning curve and it will not be fun.
Heck I'm a space nerd, I thrive on this stuff, been playing for over a year now, and I'm still learning new things almost every day.
Thats part of whats so great about it, that its deep and rich and complex.
Of course I want more women playing, but not at the expense of dulling the luster of Eve to attract them.

Now, here's the real question: How many avatars are female achura? 'Cause the Male Achura looks stupid.
Well said m8. That about sums it up for me. I wanted Actura for the attributes, but the male looked like he was constipated or something. Also, any 3rd person game where I gotta look at my character I'd rather look at a chick than some guy.

I agree with the points that gender doesn¦t matter in Eve and that it is more of a hobby than just a game. But I don¦t think it takes sci-fi, space, math or similar nerdiness to like it. I am into none of those, but I am a competitive person and love the scheming and plotting part of Eve.

From my experience the whole girls get promoted/have isk/special perks thing is a myth. People say this but I have yet to see a valid example.
I have heard a few horror stories though and names have been added to my "to pod" list. It's pretty easy to filter out the boys playing as girls by asking a few pertinent questions such as:
What movie is Johnny Depp cutest in? and So what brand of lipstick do you think is the best?
Best advice I can give female gamers is to find a mature corp. There are plenty out there and it's doubtful you would get any hassle. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels - Devil (mods@ccpgames)

To take it even further: have them feature an article on female gamers or whatever in the same issue...you know - in cosmo you have the "Yes, I¦m hot, I¦m independent and I¦m a gamer" Special issue including 10 tips on how you can look fabulous for work while waiting to dock in Jita plus 20 ways to hook up with Achura men. In Shape all they need is the "Shape your butt while hauling" article.

100% agree. Ive been seeing a larger insurgence of women playing EvE lately. Been in for nearly 3 years now, and have probably met at least 20 RL women in the past 2.5 years, some of which actually play men to avoid the harassment. Just in the last 3 months our corp has actually recruited 5 RL women. What draws them in?
Having a husband/wife duo as CEO is my best guess. It seems the female species is more attracted to the social aspect of the game, not the lure of PvP, 0.0 mining or more pew pew (at least from our paticular case). Its a very interesting trend. I think the gender gap, although larger than alot of other MMOs (For instance WoW, DAoC, and GW) is steadily narrowing.
Even though a healthy community of corpies tends to be more favorable, I would be very interested if in-station walk thru would help add to the appeal of RP and socialization to the next level.
*Oh, and BTW, Jenny Spitfire has the ins and ins with women gamers. Where is she...

Girls in eve You can get girljerms and get fatal illness I heard. So i always keep a good distance from them . Eve is all about manlove, or atleast for me If I¦m now looking for girljerms I take it out at the university, where they spawn at a scary rate. Boys grow up and be muture

Why should it have consequences? Women are just as intelligent as men and with a bit of patience many should be able to grasp Eve's concepts, many already have. This game needs more females, it's unbalanced. I think walking in stations is a step in the right direction tbh

Yes there are a few. Hard to find as they want to keep their pirvacy. We had 5 female players in our old corp at one point so there is a base (fyi female player make excellent corp admins. Generally take a little longer to develop into pvp'rs but are fearless when developed). When the female corps are recuiting you will start seeing female based questions being asked in local its a good filtering tactic. Just go out to main market areas and post questions that 99.9% of the male players will not be able to answer (i.e. stocking size to weight). They will then find you screen you to verify you are female and it goes from there.

to be honest I find eve strange sometimes because of the lackof females. In my DAoC guild we would form groups (8 players) and most of the time have at least 3 girls. In eve I have only ever been in a gang with 1 fem.
I think the whole space ship thing is just not as appealing to girls more than the learning curve being a problem - which I think most girls would take exception too :p ---------------------- Pointless forum slowing bandwidth hogging signature pic inc? |

Feng woke up, once again, in a tube. The blueish ectoplasm permeating his skin, like usual. "Those gd fracking pirates... 120 million isk gone," thought Feng as he was gathering his thoughts, still dazed and confused from the mind link.
"Feng, please forgive us, There seems to have been a malfunction with analyzing your genetic makeup this time.. There must be something wrong with this Amarrian DNA decoder that was sold to us.," said a hoarse voice hrough the intercom.
Feng started to notice something very odd, and strange, about his body. He had been in plenty of clones before, but somehow, this one felt... different. And then he knew...
"WHAT THE FRACK DID YOU DO TO ME!", screamed Feng, as his perception of reality flew right out of the window.
Once a proud alpha male from the Brutor clan.. now reduced to a Sebiestor female, Feng swore upon his fathers, that the Amarrian that did this to him would suffer a fate more terrible than being hunted by Slaver Hounds; even if he had to kill every Amarr in the galaxy.
does this count?

The real question is: Why is there every three to four months such a topic?
Cant you find enough women in RL so that you have to look for some in a MMORPG? Its really weird, there are some really nice guys (that are used to me writing lots and lots and lots.. communication ftw ) and there are other, less nice guys, thinking that they are the best and i should date them. *grin*
Perhaps, if its not that sensation if a girl plays a MMORPG that is based on PVP you would discover more of them here. In the end, we are all playing the same game, perhaps with different RL skills.

Only problem with having girls in your corp or alliance is that if you're like me you always let them get the last hit or the pod. And of course if they scream help you send the kitchen sink, not some n00b that just joined up 2 days ago ~~~~~~~~~ Caldari. It's so easy a Minmatar could do it. |
