Well, rev 2.0 is on sisi and it is certainly not fixed there.

PLEASE! stop moving my camera around in space when i jump through gates. it makes it very hard to see targets around me anywhere other then the overview.
PLEASE! dont zoom my camera in when warping around in solar system view. it makes it very annoying to see where you are dropping probes.
As for saving your scrollwheel. Get a Logitech Revolution mouse. It's got a scroll wheel that will ratchet like a normal one, and can also free rotate, allowing you to zoom all the way out with the flick of a finger. I don't know how I played eve without my revolution.

Closing in on 8 months since this was broken.
That is 240 days since it worked correctly. That is $120.00 in subscription fees per player since it was broken.
If this is now a "feature" CCP just come out and say it please?
Cats do play EVE. Where did you think player names like asdfghjj came from?

Fix it.... please. Zoom level should be saved (client side) between session changes and pod ejection and it shouldn't matter if your in a shuttle or a titan you should be able to zoom right in to a light drone.

This automatic camera zoom feature is especially annoying when trying to work with bookmarks in solarsystem map.
It's just not a very helpful feature at all.

I have found a fix for the zoom after jump and the map zoom thingy. Unfortunately it's not really very satisafactory.
Coz it's called "NOT playing EVE anymore"
This was version 3.0 of my fix, preceded by;
Fix version 1.0 - not doing Exploration to avoid being bored witless while the map does it's zoom thing, every single, frickin, time!
Fix version 2.0 - Staying in the station to avoid zooming issues after jumping and map zooming issues.
Take care of the pennies huh CCP?

Edited by: cal nereus on 29/07/2007 07:34:17 Basically, I want the ability to set a different fixed/default camera distance, such that whenever I undock or jump, I do not automatically zoom in to the max (this is what currently happens, and anyone who doesn't have this happen to them should share their secret now).

Actually, you can, I found a workaround for this. While having your camera on the object you want to see, hold down your right mouse button. This enables freeview (look around from a fixed position, instead of flying your camera round a fixed position). Move your mouse around for a bit, so the camera is "unstuck" (as I call it). Now, also hold down your left mouse button and move the mouse up and down. This way, you can zoom in on any object as much as you want.
It's not very elegant, but it works if you really want to see something up close. ---------- I made a bet for 100M and a faction fitted Raven that I wouldn't get any dev/admin change to my signature even when I specifically ask not to. So please, think of my poor wallet! |

I can confirm this - partially.
Autozoom when warping in normal view and system map seems to be fixed. I still had it happen to me once, but couldn't reproduce it.
Autozoom of the system map when jumping is partially fixed. It does not happen anymore, but it kinda breaks the system map. You get the system map at the correct zoom lvl, but no belt, planet, etc icons. You get some, but only those of the system where you entered into system map mode. Shown far away and not warpable to.
Autozoom of the star map when jumping is still completely broken, although in a kinda different way. You get a black screen now when jumping in star map view and no amount of zooming around fixes that. It also sometimes breaks the system map and normal view and you have to use the reset camera button to fix it. In addition to that the star map also breaks when you jump in normal view. You have to switch to solarsystem map and back again to repair it.
So, alltogether rather buggy, but at least they are finally starting to work on that issue.

if ccp allowed 3rd party UI mods to eve, all of this **** would go away without having to barely lift a finger. As it is, The UI is one of the things I hate most about this game next to lag.
It is exactly these frustrating things that nothing will do anything about that makes me want to take a hammer to my PC and quit eve.

Well this is my 1st forum post... Just because I too found the constant zoom reset very, very annoying. Most stupid thing ever.
Also, in some travel angles the rotation options around the ship are too limited. Why not have it totally free 360 degrees?

to avoid wearing out your mouse wheel:
(Left-click+hold)+(Right-click+hold) = holding down both mouse buttons.
Now, with both mouse buttons held down, move your mouse backwards and forwards.
Congratulations. Your mouse wheel is now safe. Now all you need to worry about is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

The game already had that function with a patch and lost this function more than one time.
I gave it up und just zoom out when I arrived my destination system wehen flying. But I really don't habe a 20" TFT only to see my own ship very large in the center of the screen. It's more interesting to see a bit more of the things surrounding me.

Yeah I'm pig sick of this issue and many related ones.
The "zoom out" button on the HUD was broken back in December and, ever since, it takes you straight to the solar system map.
Camera position should be saved between states and sessions anyway.
Moreover, the star map and view display areas are fraught with *obvious* bugs and/ or bad design choices:-
- Star map borks on session change
- Either no option exists for displaying autopilot route only, without also displaying every jump in the region, or the "selection's lines only" option is not working correctly
- The star map's mouseover info is uncontrollable and drastically reduces the map's efficiency of use - this information should only be accessed when the user wants it (by clicking, double-clicking or right clicking and selecting an appropriate option)
- The list goes on, but like most people I get sick of the overwhelmingly bad design of the UI, sick of talking about it on the forums and sick of my bug reports being filtered.
It's way past time you get someone in to sort this **** out!
And sort out your stoopid website while you're at it.

It was much better when the camera stayed zoomed to where you left it, even when you jumped tghrough gates. It is dam annoying and sometimes while zooming out, your ship will decide to move and uncloak which can result in pain if theres an enemy camp
How hard can it be? (serious question?)
