Yup, it's laggy as hell. I had to relog every time I undocked from a station because I got stuck. And this was with "only" 500 people in local. I've tried it with over 700 people with any problems before..

It's a fair comment. The OP is complaining that Jita is too crowded when he goes there. They are part of the problem. Every time anyone goes to Jita they are adding to and encouraging the overcrowding.
There is hardly ever any reason why you have to go to Jita. Shop around. If you have to accept a 10% price hike although from what I can see it's often cheaper not to go there. Whatever - Get out of the mindset that 'Must buy something'=='Must go to Jita'. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Of course it will if everyone makes the same choice. The trouble is that people keep taking your view. It's the same thing in real-life. People think "everyone else will do it so I might as well". It's herd thinking.

LOL.. you completely missed what the OP was saying, just like the other fella I quoted...
He stated that Jita has GOTTEN worse since the patch, and I was agreeing with him. I normally have no problem going there except for very little lag, but after the patch it's lagging really badly with only 60% of the people normally there. This might be because they are now sharing the Jita node with some other systems or because of some sort of bug.
I hope you understood what the OP was stating now ----------------------

Yeah, the point of this thread is that Jita used to be OK at around 650 people, and now it lags at about 500.

Quite a few people in the middle of a war choose Jita as a place to camp stations and gates, as there's a good chance of finding war targets there - especially for someone like Privateers. I tried convincing some they had war targets in Kisogo that were just as juicy, but they just stayed outside Jita 4-4 :)

I don't know if it is their connections but it is probably part of it. I have been there a few times and never had this "huge lag" except when I warped to a station where there were 500 ships sitting in front of it.

It's not that hard to grasp though. CCP tries to clear Jita and give people reason to leave it and spread a little more.
Unfortunately, half of the Eve population still doesn't understand this, and thus ventures into Jita looking for adventure or good deals.
Posts like: "I hate it when I HAVE TO GO to Jita" are st00pid. You do not HAVE TO go to Jita! Buy stuff elsewhere!
The solution for Jita lag? GET OUT OF THERE! SPREAD! Get a clue!

Wow.. ain't you a smart fella.. the only thing the OP was stating was that it's really laggy after the last patch even with alot fewer people in the system. Afaik Jita still has an entire node, so jita should still be in it's usual state with some lag but it ain't, it's alot worse

You made me smile.
The point of any thread on any forum is that you make a statement that, after you have posted it, is open for discussion.
The OP states that he experiences more lag in Jita since last patch than before. This gets both confirmed and opposed by other posters.
After tens of thousands of posts about Jita lag, one thing really does become clear: that there are many people that really do not understand WHY Jita has so much lag.
CCP removes asteroid belt from the system, changes some stations, in order to get some people out of the system that are either mining or coming to Jita for skliibooks which they can now get somewhere else.
Now, all that is left is the people still clogging together in Jita because they feel that there is no other place to go when you want to buy something. You are one of those people, since you stated that you hated to 'have to go to Jita'.
Some other people, the ones that actually DO understand that to solve the problem of lag in Jita the market needs to spread a little more, make posts that disagree with the OP.
You have quoted and ridiculed them all, including myself.
Tell me - do you really believe that we got it so wrong and you got is so right?
Do YOU actually understand the meaning of this forum?

Yesterday, Jita and Motsu ended up on the same server node, thus creating a large amount of lag. In order to resolve this, the node was killed, restarted and the systems were mapped to different nodes. This is most likely why you experienced difficulties yesterday.

Even with the removed Kiso-Jita jump, all north/south traffic still goes through Jita. -AS |

When 700 people in local and there is lag like hell its still annoying but those 700 people might be a reason. Im in Danera/Khanid and there are normally around 15 people in local, and since yesterday everything i do takes from 15-30 seconds, when i want to dock i have to wait 1-2 minutes until the DOCKING-tag comes. This really sucks, i dont know whats wrong there, 17 people is really not much.

The Jita problem will never go away. If they deleted the system, another would simply become the new market for everyone. Its human nature. The divided-regions market is partly to blame, as it makes free-trade type decisions harder to make based on difficulty to get the necessary information.
I'd suggest CCP create an NPC Shipping corp welcome in all 4 races' territory. Give them 1 station in each high-sec region, and have them "run freighters" to continually resupply their stations from places that have a "surge in demand." (delete excess stock from a station, make it appear in another with low stock 2-6 hours later. Pay the person selling market price at the original station, and offer it in the new station at a 10% higher price then was paid). It would create a mini-Jita in every high-sec region, allowing people to get goods from any of them.
Hopefully, this would 1) Prevent another Jita from developing, as as soon as stocks got built up, the NPC would transport it to another Market world that didn't have as much. Jita would no longer have everything for sale. 2) Spread out high-sec players to many different regions. 3) Allow players in low-sec a shorter path if they absolutely feel they must go to a central market (like Jita has become.)
This will cut into high-sec traders' profit margins a little, but the 10% markup should still allow them to function, just at a slightly lower isk/hr rate. Also, since the goods are being redistributed based on the original price, it gives plenty of room for undercutting based on regional differences in availability.

A little? Try 'dramatically'. If the NPCs took over inter-regional trade (which is what you've proposed), it would destroy PC-based inter-regional trade.
The fact that players can't see across regional boundaries allows for skilful merchants to make profits. Having NPCs look across regional boundaries on behalf of players would shut down a part of the game that I enjoy. (Your 'inconvenience' is my 'business opportunity'.)

In response, CCP does : 1 - OK, err, let's see if we can improve the code 2 - We can't "NOW DAMNIT NOW NOW NOW", then let's throw $millions to improve the hardware 3 - There is no money left to improve the code later.
And nobody cares about it.

ôWar is not the dreadful end to all things as mankind fears. Conflict brings balance to nature as it adapts, mutates, and transforms itself into something stronger than before. Mankind is the master of nature because we can choose those mutations on our own accord. We can accelerate the inevitable dominance of a species. Through war, we can make ourselves stronger at the time and place of our choosing. War is not hell, far from it. War is beautiful. War is divine.ö - Grand Admiral Mekioth Sarum, excerpt from a commencement speech to Paladin graduates of the Imperial Academy, 23215 AD |
