The next one will be posted on Sunday.
Factoid: 16 ppl have c.racked #1 9 ppl have c.racked #2 4 ppl only have c.racked #3
As I've hinted at before - I already have a 'grand finale' planned - which maybe (no promises) would have a BIG fat prize for whoever solves it first. But!, only those who has solved *all* of the prelim puzzles will be elegible for the (possible) prize.
So get c.racking ppl BIG Lottery

This is an polyalphabetic substitution cipher (google it) which makes it very very hard. This particular one were regarded by many as practically unbreakable for 300 years. But ~150 years ago a method was found....
I've made it a bit easier by keeping spaces, capitilization, punctuations and using a lot of text But I honestly dont expect any to break it. I'll drop a couple of hints as time passes...
Enjoy

Too easy TornSoul I was busy this evening so saw your post only three hours ago. Telling us it's a polyalphabetic substitution cipher gave it away. grbi.

Right Briggi Knowing what kind of cipher you have to deal with makes it a lot easier. EMSS.

O M G.... You two blow me away... Even with the hint about it beeing poly, you still have to find the key etc... Yes there are heuristics to do that but *still* (I think you'd have figured out it was poly real quick anyhow ;) )
I'm very impressed.
Damn - Now I have to come up with a new one alot sooner than I had thought - atleast to keep you two entertained BIG Lottery

Index of coincidence was 0.063797 this time. (Obviously, I used the same method as last time, calculating the IoC for the key length, then using the attack mentioned in the cipher. Still too lazy to do the ones that involve a lot of legwork for me, though.)

There might have been a time in my life when, perhaps, I could have solved these type of things. Fully in realization that I have no clue where to begin, I doubt I will. The money in a fictional game is hardly worth the real world frustration of doing this, with no guarantee that I will succeed or even be compensated. I could spend a similar amount of time ingame and make 100M, without doubt. I fail to see the return on investment... However, for those of you who are so inclined, kudos, and may you reach ever onward in your heuristic capabilities.
