The best (worst) setups are ones that fit railguns on ships that have no bonus to them, yet they still insist on putting a heatsink or two in there - those are my favourites...

R3dSh1ft Caldari FIRMA Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate	Posted - 2007.02.03 12:20:00 - [42] theres no such thing as a 'bad' setup there are suboptimum setups, inefficient setups, counter-intuitive setups and so on, but it depends 100% on what you are going to be doing in your ship, 4x hml and 4x miner 2 isnt a silly setup if you are going to be killing mainly frig/cruiser sized rats and mining in high sec as heavy missiles take up less space in cargo. basically, you have to learn some understanding, perspective and break away from the walled-in thinking of some on this forum, then you will discover how to fit your ships ______________________________________

Qece Gallente Garoun Investment Bank	Posted - 2007.02.04 10:11:00 - [60] Generally speaking there's 1 of 3 things that have occurred when someone reports a bad setup. 1) Extreme specialisation. Raven's Armour tanking, Domi's Shield tanking and that kind of thing. May look retarded but usually it's for a good reason. 2) Pilot eagerness (can sometimes be linked to point 3). This is where the pilot has rushed to get certified to fly a bigger ship but does not have the required support skills. Generally speaking you end up with BS pilots sporting Cruiser type weapons and similar. Also this point covers when the pilot is SOL (s&*t outta luck) and has no ISK to be able to fit better modules. This happens more than you might think. 3) Pilot is dumb. Just plain stupid. Someone who thought they knew best when they clicked not to continue the tutorial. Someone who never asked anything and someone who'll most likely be returning to WoW in the near future. I must admit that I fell into the second bracket. I rushed my way into a Domi and I regretted it. I had no Large Hybrid skills, no skills to fit large NOS, no skills for large reppers. Couldn't use 1600mm plates and my damage mitigation skills were poo too. For a long time I was fitting Cruiser sized turrets on my Domi BUT there was a good reason for the hasty upgrade from BC's to BS. During my mission running I was sitting happily at level 3's in my Brutix Battlecruiser. Gaining a healthy amount of LP for a level 3 agent was a bonus while the ISK was a nice inject and the combat was testing at times but generally it was a breeze. After a while I started to get, inexplicably, really tough missions. I was completing them just fine but it was taking a long time. Sometimes I was having to warp out to regen some cap and rep the armour. Not good. ISK wasn't coming as freely and the loot was nowhere near good enough to be taking an extended period to accumilate. After about 5 of said misions I was thoroughly sick of it. A mission of this type was taking me up to 2 hours to complete and as my play time is limited it wasn't working for me at all. As the overall plan was to grind the faction to lvl 4's I was aware that I'd need a BS to complete those anyhow. With great sorrow I bit the bullet and rushed the BS training to get into a shiny new Dominix. Even fitted with Cruiser sized mods the mission times were instantly greatly reduced. A Battleship trivialises lvl 3 missions to beyond a joke. ISK ran freely again. While this was happening I quickly trained the skills to fit my Domi with the modules it so richly deserved. A month since then I can happily say that anyone scanning me won't fall off their chair laughing. It took a while but the mocks and jeers of local pilots are now gone. Even now though I still fit a couple of small railguns to the Domi for some missions. There's one or two out there that have tackling Battlecruisers and while my Drone skills are decent they still take a while and it helps to have a bit of concentrated fire to negate the BC's rep. So there, the 3 reasons why you see strange fits and a true account of why I was, and still am, 1 of them. p.s. Any advice on taking those tackling BC's out in less time than using fitting frigate sized rails to my BS is welcomed.
