I quite miss doing that. I think the worst was probably a Caracal with three civilian shield boosters, some rocket launchers and goodness knows what else... ------ So you're lagged out in Motsu/Saila/Aramachi, but you want that CNR? Do missions for another corp!

Of course its easily shield tankable, but its even more easily armor tankable . Though in a Drake I'd shield tank either way due to the resist bonus. I've seen some suggested setups for shield tanked domis. I believe the idea is that you free low slots for damage mods. But then you don't carry NOS on all highs. Worst setup I've seen was a Thorax with 3 civilian shield bosters as tank. It died very quickly. Reading this thread seems the civ boosters are rather common in these setups of doom (to the owner of course).

I figured that a rifter would be more than enough for any level 1 or level 2 mission... so I was doing this level 1 mission, but there was a pair of sentry guns which were kicking my butt before I could get close enough to kill them. I figured I needed something a little beefier to tank with... looked around... the only thing in the system was a blackbird, I only had a few minutes before the timer ran out on the mission, and I didn't have time to go 5 jumps for the next closest decent gear. So I bought it, fitted it out with the paltry amount of gear on the market in the system, and went to town. 2x 250mm howitzer 1x rocket launcher 1x small nos 1x 1mn AB 1x small shield booster 1x small armor rep the rest of the slots were empty. :P I finished the mission before the timer ran out though. +++ "Etiquette is for the Dojo. As i was scanning, I realized he was looking for me. So I, in a close range dominix, warped to the complex (4/10) so the fight would start off at my range. About 5 to 10 seconds later the raven comes out of warp within 2-3 km, I lock on and then he gets lock and aggroes, I return the aggro and kill him. His setup consisted of 4x sensor boosters, a prototype cloaking device, and Not a single sensor booster... Much good all those sensor damps did when he never got farther than 2km from me and had a cloak that guaranteed him to be the last one to get lock. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... The best (worst) setups are ones that fit railguns on ships that have no bonus to them, yet they still insist on putting a heatsink or two in there - those are my favourites...

Raven's Armour tanking, Domi's Shield tanking and that kind of thing. May look retarded but usually it's for a good reason. 2) Pilot eagerness (can sometimes be linked to point 3). This is where the pilot has rushed to get certified to fly a bigger ship but does not have the required support skills. Generally speaking you end up with BS pilots sporting Cruiser type weapons and similar. Also this point covers when the pilot is SOL (s&*t outta luck) and has no ISK to be able to fit better modules. This happens more than you might think. 3) Pilot is dumb. Just plain stupid. Someone who thought they knew best when they clicked not to continue the tutorial. Someone who never asked anything and someone who'll most likely be returning to WoW in the near future. I must admit that I fell into the second bracket. I rushed my way into a Domi and I regretted it. I had no Large Hybrid skills, no skills to fit large NOS, no skills for large reppers. Couldn't use 1600mm plates and my damage mitigation skills were poo too. For a long time I was fitting Cruiser sized turrets on my Domi BUT there was a good reason for the hasty upgrade from BC's to BS. During my mission running I was sitting happily at level 3's in my Brutix Battlecruiser. Gaining a healthy amount of LP for a level 3 agent was a bonus while the ISK was a nice inject and the combat was testing at times but generally it was a breeze. After a while I started to get, inexplicably, really tough missions. I was completing them just fine but it was taking a long time. Sometimes I was having to warp out to regen some cap and rep the armour. Not good. ISK wasn't coming as freely and the loot was nowhere near good enough to be taking an extended period to accumilate. After about 5 of said misions I was thoroughly sick of it. A mission of this type was taking me up to 2 hours to complete and as my play time is limited it wasn't working for me at all. As the overall plan was to grind the faction to lvl 4's I was aware that I'd need a BS to complete those anyhow. With great sorrow I bit the bullet and rushed the BS training to get into a shiny new Dominix. Even fitted with Cruiser sized mods the mission times were instantly greatly reduced. A Battleship trivialises lvl 3 missions to beyond a joke. ISK ran freely again. While this was happening I quickly trained the skills to fit my Domi with the modules it so richly deserved. A month since then I can happily say that anyone scanning me won't fall off their chair laughing. It took a while but the mocks and jeers of local pilots are now gone. Even now though I still fit a couple of small railguns to the Domi for some missions. There's one or two out there that have tackling Battlecruisers and while my Drone skills are decent they still take a while and it helps to have a bit of concentrated fire to negate the BC's rep. So there, the 3 reasons why you see strange fits and a true account of why I was, and still am, 1 of them. p.s. Any advice on taking those tackling BC's out in less time than using fitting frigate sized rails to my BS is welcomed.

Funnily enough, it died. I've seen a few odd blasterthron pilots who used plates instead of reps. I killed one, but he mentioned that he hadn't died in 3 months. Apparently these setups are for ganking people at dedspace complexes. Can't use MWD there, so AB is the next best thing, and you can save on powergrid by using plates instead of reppers. The extra powergrid should be enough to run a rack of neutrons, and with a couple mag stabs you'll have great gank. Play this ship the right way and it will serve you well. It's not a bad setup.

The owner of the ship (who had been playing for 6 months) wouldn't accept any criticism of his build, despite the fact that he spent most of his play time begging other people to do his level 3 missions for him, as they were 'too hard for a solo BC'.

So I scoured through my hangar, throwing all my non-junk items into a cerberus and flew to empire. Then I returned in a shuttle to get my raven and after boarding it I found out I had taken everything off it a few days before and that the said raven's fit was now in empire. Of course I was way too lazy to fly back and get a fit so I threw together this eyesore of a setup out of the leftover crap in my station: 3x heavy launcher I's, 3x standard launcher I's, 2x medium neutralizer I's 2x Medium Shield booster I, 1x Small shield booster I, 3x Small shield extender I 2x overdrive I, 3x stabs And I flew through much of upper syndicate and out some backdoor system into empire. Later, that raven went on to win the special olympics and became the president of a small island in the caribbean.
