Why not ban all forms of Station/Gate Gank Camping in Jita.
Why?
Cause u get these corps that sit at stations and wardec with people so they can fire at them when the come out.
So whatÆs wrong with that?
Well Jita is so laggy sometimes you can die before you even undock from a station (i.e the screen is still black from undocking)
How?
Well just make Jita a no shoot zone so guns donÆt work there.
How?
I donÆt care but im sure itÆs not beyond the realms of programming
Why should they?
Because Jita is a market hub where people go to buy and sell stuff and you have the station/gate from wardec people adding to already existing lag and using the fact there can be some much lag to kill people who donÆt have a chance to do anything about it.
So what?
So people petition (more petitions) to get there items back, and even then donÆt always get "all" their items back.
Why should i care?
Well i donÆt expect you to care as your a prolly one those that camp station in this way using lag as a way to get easy kill.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
/me puts on his Kevlarà. ItÆs a fire retardant donÆt you know

I doubt anyone would really care. They can camp the outside gates and gank people as they leave. I'm sure the privateers wouldn't mind doing that. (I'm guessing that's who you're talking about... 90% of those hard core pirate's kills come from Jita black screen undockers) ~~~~~~~~~ Hey Gai. Bak Off Coz Ai Bang Yu Hawd. K Gai? |

Although I think it's a flaw that you can be killed before your screen even loads due to lag, I think the suggestion of making it a gun free zone is ridiculous.
Your reasoning for doing so is that "it's a market system". That is the reason the PVPers are there in the first place, and they have no less right to be there than those shopping.

Making jita a no gun zone would totally destroy the entire place.. every trader in the game would swarm there because there would be NO danger, not even a remote one..

Thank you, I appreciated that someone else out there thinks this as well (if just in part)

Thank you for your comment, i know not if it is a ridiculous idea or not, i only know that its not fair on people who want to fly to Jita in order to get good value items all in one place should be killed when exiting a station or coming through a gate because the lag is so great you are as good as dead to the gankers waiting for you.
Any suggesting to this problem would be welcomed.

I like this idea, not so many people there as the care bears donÆt like 0.0 and also anyone that wanted to gank people in station would now be free targets.
I sign this one =p

Maybe, maybe not. If you have any other suggestions that would be great and i welcome any ideas at all.
I think almost every trader swarms there anyways (even using alts) if there is danger from a wardec corp.
Should everyone have to use alts as there is a fault in the game that allows these gankers to kill you in Jita where in any other system they would not be able to? By using the lag that is there are they using an exploit?
I welcome any and all comments, suggestions and ideas.

the best "fix jita" suggestion i have heard is the idea of a constellation based market. you buy stuff anywhere within the same constellation and it shows up in your station. maybe give it a little time dealy for the sake of realism.
In other words, fix Jita by making it so that you dont actually have to go there to get your stuff.

rotating the station exit point alinged with the gates would be a start using an alt to move stuff also works great
declaring a "gun free zone" would just increase the population by a factor of 1000 and suicide ganks by 1000000 as every one undocks with expensive stuff in t1 indies

It's pretty simple to fix really.
If you're at war, don't get into hauler and fly alone to places that you KNOW folks will be shooting at you. It's getting tired seeing all these "Please don't shoot ME" threads.
If you have to go to Jita, then get somebody to escort you and keep an eye outside the station. Why in gods name must the game mechanic change because of what's happening outside ONE station among thousands? It's not like you don't have other options like Rens, Amarr and the OTHER trade hubs.

NO danger, not even a remote one. Open your eyes silly. You have to GET there first. If you never leave, you aren't going to get much done. And yes... people can camp gates in highsec. ~~~~~~~~~ Hey Gai. Bak Off Coz Ai Bang Yu Hawd. K Gai? |

Frankly I agree with the common sense approach.
Stay out of Jita. It and all the other hubs are a royal pain, wartargets or not. I'll personally travel a bit further happily to stay out of ganker infested lagnests. If there's no alternative, use an alt - and don't carry enough in a ship that can be easily enough killed so as to make suicide runs worthwhile.

Option 1: STAY OUT OF JITA
Option 2: use a freighter
Option 3: Buy a bustard from me or buy some other heavilly tanked ship.

Yeah well the issue is not that you can wardec its the stupid way in which undocking immunity is handled.
Make undocking synch with the client data. When that data is drawn on the gui then make the ship targettable.
At the moment we have a retarded timer that completely ignores whether the client has loaded or not; this gives fast loads immunity from combat even when they are able to interact with the client but allows slow loaders to be killed if they dont load before the timer runs out.
Nothing to do with war decs and gate camps, everything to do with programming the client session changes. The Privateering Life |

I agree, going to Jita is just silly. Especially if you are at war with someone. You know theres gonna be insane lag, you know theres a high probability for running into suicide gankers, why the hell would you want to go there?
The prices and availability aren't really all that much better, especially when you figure the risks involved into the equasion. It's not about broken game mechanics, it's about people being stupid. It's like walking around in a big city waving money about and then being surprised when you get pickpocketed.

Wow...a response in this thread that proposes a technically sound solution that doesn't involve nerfing pirates, jita, stargates, ships, or erotic dancers.

Sigma and Hmm,
I've not really tested this in a super-laggy undock, but it is actually possible to set (well of course) but also to ACTIVATE the autopilot while docked, by hotkey only - you'll have to define one first.
If you're in something quick-warping like a shuttle or frig, hopefully the autopilot would heave you into warp before they could scram you even while your screen is still black, since the autopilot seems to be driven server-side (works nicely without lag).
As said above, I haven't actually tested that in a super-laggy situation, but next time I have to shop something in Jita I will.
Maybe someone else already tried this?

Might be a good idea.
While in general there should be no safe havens, if indeed the lag is getting many people killed in Jita due to this, it warrants looking at. And 1 safe system, which doesn't have any agents anymore I think, nor any asteroid belts doesn't ruin the concept of EVE.
All it would do is move the ganking out to the gates leading out of Jita in neighbouring systems, which should be equally disruptive and prone to PvP as the current system, but without lag to benefit the camper.

If jita is too slow for you.. dont go to jita.. simple. Things that make jita better are the last thing this game needs. Wer need less concentrated hubs!!!
If at least we had 1 hub for each race.. that would be acceptable.. but jita is plain wrong. The sheer amount of ships right outside 4-4 is the most stupid thing in game. CCP should help gankers to kill that blobs of ships...
If brute force doesn't solve your problem.. then you are not using enough!! |

Alternative solution:-
If you wish to buy in Jita, buy in jita. Place a courier contract up to move the gear 2 jumps out of Jita, wait for your gear to be delivered. If you think someone might then follow that trail, set another courier mission from your delivery point to a second delivery point.
There are so many people buzzing in and out of Jita that your contract will be picked up and delivered immediately, because it is free isk for someone... and you dont have to risk a multi million isk ship and the lag, you can just sit there and wait.
