guys, lay off the girls for a bit. Maybe this channel isn't benifictal for *us*, it doesn't make any difference for us so leave it alone. And by trying to deny the girls to have their own chat room is what *I* call selfish

In the Engg. department, we have a noticable lack of female students. As such, everytime I hear about some women-only scholarships, or women-only student associations, it ****es me right off. They ***** and moan about how hard it is as a woman in Engineering, and how male engineers don't take them serious, than go and sit on the so-called silk pillow and float through school on someone elses hardwork.

The issues you refer to are no different than the issues at hand. A small population of EVE think they are special, and want others to make them feel special. As far as I'm concerned, if I find a female player in EVE, I will strongly suggest she play like any other member of the community. The idea of a one sex channel is foolish.

I think having a 'female only' channel is a pretty cool idea actually. I'm not a girl playing a male character, but I have known a few female gamers before in various games. A lot of times they would end up getting harrassed by guys, and it made them feel very uncomfortable. Having a place for the female gamers to chat with like-minded people can be very helpful for them if something starts to bug them. One thing that really irritates me is when other guys treat girls as objects, and not as people.
I guess I'm just rambling on a bit now, so I should probably shut myself up before I get in trouble...

Tbh it's fair enough having a woman's only channel if you use the game as some kind of social outlet (primarily). I on the other hand play to play. Doesnt make much sense but I've established myself and my 2 chars as a good PVPer and Fleet Commander. A lot of the women I meet in game annoy the hell out of me with how they choose to play the game and how it seems to be some kind of chat channel. I have friends because I enjoy playing the game with them, I dont play the game because I enjoy making friends. Posts like this leave me confused. I dont see why there is a need for women to segregate themselves in different corps or channels, surely the fact we, unlike a lot of women in society today, can actually exist in such a male orientated environment is proof to all that we should be recognised as a successful and growing part of the community, and we dont need to be labelled with the same assumptions in rl in EVE because we may be a different sex. Sometimes it just seems like a cry for attention. Maybe this thread would be better off in recruitment.
I dont know sometimes. But then I think too much. Not flamebait, you girls do your own thing, its just not for me. I like pew pew and leading fleets.

For your information the females in the channel do not feel they are special, who would we feel special too? All high-five'ing each other in the private channel?
Many girls prefer not to join the channel but many do. It's there for those who want to join and if they do not, no bad feelings at all. Several girls do not want to be in a gender specific channel as they see no need, those that don't mind have somewhere to go. What's so bad about that?
Why don't you join our public channel and talk about this? That way you will be able to talk to the girls that do enjoy it and others that don't mind, as well as be able to talk to girls that have not joined the private channel but hang out in the public one.
Hope to see you there! -----------------------------------------------

There is name for something like this, its called a circle jerk; I have no interest in your public channel, nor talking to the individuals who do and do not attend your private channel. You're attempting to confuse a persons opinion with plain and simple fact.
The choice of a person for something based on their gender >is< sexism; to encourage it and actively endorse it a hate crime. If CCP enforced their rules more strictly, you'd be treated with the same banhammer as the racists. Don't believe me? Replace "gender" with "race", "male" with "black person", and the argument equates the same.

Women are offered scholarships to engineering schools and programs because jerks like you bash us and try to enjoy your "Boy's Club". Perhaps you do not overtly state it but I believe it is clear to everyone else.
You have a chip on your shoulder because, perhaps, you're at your second choice school because an intelligent woman was rightly awarded an education at MIT or Caltech. Poor you, go have a nice cry and have some Ben & Jerry's.

I see you feel strongly about this issue. Perhaps I can subscribe to your newsletter?
If you're so upset, you should campaign about this hateful oppression closer to home. A few invasions of the women's lavatories, followed by standing around outside some black or *** groups yelling "hate criminals!" or "I'm being oppressed!" might do it.
Please do tell us how you get on, good sir.

I again have to agree. I am a woman, I am attending a top computer science university and I do think that women in the industry get it easier. I know that when I graduate I will find it easier to get a job than most guys, purely becase of my sex and the lack of women in the industry and the rise in sexual equality. I HATE this fact. I want to be recognised because I am as good as the top people graduating. Not because I'm different to the majority.
The same can be said for EVE. Why should women be recognised as anything different? We all use the same computers, load up the same client, have the same starting characters. I thought eve was somewhere where this BS didnt occur, but yet even in our minority there are always those trying to make this again about what we are out of game.

I tell you what, the minute the women in your private channel drop their underthings and go to the washroom, I'll be the first to sign the petition to get the channel turning into a women-only area.

Then take one in the chin like a big girl and go play with the rest of us. You obviously understand their immaturity, and that they are more than likely just afraid to talk plainly to the opposite sex, and thereby vent their frustrations through lewd comments. Such should be the start and the end of any problems, anything further is extenuated by your own inability to cope. While I agree that you should not have to cope, its obviously the powers that be (CCP) refuse to step in and enforce the most basic of human rights.

And I see male students copying each other as well, additional to the fact that I'm sure you compare solutions to your friends and adjust as you see the trend. Copying someone by no means implies that they have the correct solution, its a matter of trust.

Hmm... but, y'see, privacy in restrooms is protected by stalls. So what proximity to knickerless women is ok, and what is not? Is there some kind of internationally mandated exclusion zone?
Besides, what about that thing mandates segregation, whereas as you argue other things do not?
You didn't answer my query about ***, black, womens organisations etc. Surely they are a more fitting target for your campaigning zeal?

I don't quite see your argument, you're saying that women should sit face to face as they urinate? or that men and women should share the same restroom?

I think the reason a lot of women want to be recognized for playing EVE is because CCP is trying to find ways to draw females into playing this game... being a predominately male player base, it's nice to be recognized as a RL female player that has the knowledge and skills to play this game. I myself can say I have a great corporation and alliance that treat me no differently than anyone else that plays this game. I have been playing this game for almost 2 years and I am acting CEO of my corporation, participate in mining, missions, PvP, PvE, manufacturing, production, research and development, salvaging, etc. I think the all womens channel is a good idea for women who want to interact with other female players in this game, and I find nothing wrong with that more power to you girls... BUT it works better for me to be accepted as the woman I am, able to fit in with all the guys in my corp and alliance, and be treated as just one of the guys, playing this game side by side with them. Kudos to my other four RL female alliance members (Shieldmaiden, Mina, Kat 1111, and bradshaw *huggles*) a big thank you to my corpmates and alliance members for treating me like everyone else and respecting me for the player I am You guys in CPU rock!!!!!

Contacts in eve are vital, without people to people interaction there would be no one set to blue. There is a hellava lot of stuff going on backstage that has to happen before Pew-Pew can happen (unless you are a solo pirate obviously) I guarantee all your ceos are greeted with a myriad of blinking lights the second he/she turns his/her Eve on.
I am the senior recruitment managerr (title typo) in my corp, so I spend 90% of my game time sat in station talking to people. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I am a woman. I'm just quite good at making lists is all.
Without us admin types everyone would be sat in a corp with 5 mates in empire. /defense of playstyle
