So. I havent seen any threads like this that DIRECTLY discuss this game
^_^ im so excited. 4 years in waiting. And its being released NEXT MONTH WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
And right in time with me getting a new gaming-dedicated computer, high end, which should run it beautifully.
these are the System Reqs, but usually these arent enough to run it at a DECENT quality. So what are the expected stats that everyone will be wanting to run this baby :) with ultra sweet graphics.
I already plan for a 2GB DDR2 ram, and a Geforce 8800 graphix card, which can support DX10
PC Processor Type Intel« Pentium« 4 processor or equivalent PC Processor Speed 2.4GHz PC Operating System Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista PC System Memory 512MB RAM PC Hard Drive Space 4GB PC Video 64MB DirectX 8.0b-compatible video card PC Sound Card Sound card PC Modem 56.6 Kbps PC Additional Requirements Internet service required to access online features

I'm on the bandwagon. Love the original book of Strugatsky brothers (Roadside picnic) and when I found out years ago that they are making game of it (or at least on that theme), have been "stalking" this game ever since. Well, it doesn't come out with all the nifty features they wanted to implement but well... nothing to do. Preordered Collectors Edition already

Hmmm....gotta see it in the stores to believe it.
I hope they don't drop out at the last second getting it's vaporware status even higher.

I hope the RAM and graphics card isn't all you're adding to that list, cuz that's a horrible rig .
On topic though, I been really looking forward to STALKER for ages now, it's almost hard to believe it's finally coming out. The graphics etc. aren't actually fantastic, but I don't care tbh, theyre adequate and the textures seem to portray the gritty, run-down nature of the area very well, I just hope it manages to be open ended and free without being mind-numbingly boring like Oblivion was.

haha well. Im also gonna have a Core 2 Duo attached to it. And IMO,the 8800s are next-gen tech and should run STALKER smoothly.
:( too bad Stalker is run on the XRAY engine and not like Source or Unreal, so the water effects supposidly wont be all that great

2 Years ago it looked like a dream, and then they pushed the date of release by like a year, twice.
Always been a fan of post-apocalyptic enviroments though and still looking forward to this so very much, it's some consolidation for the third fallout that never arrived.
Also, hoping the Co-op is as good as suggested, the lack of such games lately is dire. Oblivion, as someone mentioned could've been a whole other story with MP support.

Fixed.
Stalker was announced for a 2003 release date originally, right next to HL2, but the game got delayed because the publisher pulled out. A year ago they found a new one and have been tweaking the game for release, but i wouldn't be so optimistic untill i have the game in my hands.

Ah yes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (bloody annoying to type)... Less than a week left... The only thing I think about these days is that if the postal services **** up and my pre-order is delayed until monday the 26th then this skinny white nerd is going on a rampage, and that wouldn't be pretty.

Well now its "out" 6 years in the making and half the features gones :/
SP is impressive at first glance untill you realise that 1400's trying to pop a 7k a sec inty at 2k are more accurate then most the weapons.
Its based on realism so rainbow 6 ect combat yet it takes 15 rounds from an assault in the chest to down someone :/
Its very linear now the map is impressive but you cant go anywhere and money seems useless :/
AI is good though, but enermies just respawn like serious sam and you keep getting hordes of enermies coming after you :/ and they take more bullets to kill then you do.
At least no crashs on xp at least and seems to run smooth.
To much hype on what could have been a great game with all the develpopement type and promises :/
Maybe they will patch the weapon accuracy/damage and it will be worth playing and not just becoming frustrated as hell over :/
Thats my opinion of it after playing it for awhile.

The problem was PCG themeselves, they spent so long in so many previews hyping it up for themselves, that when they got the final copy it didnt get up to their sky high expectations..
Apart from that PCG Ftw :)

No, the reviewer (Kieron Gillen) is rather respected for his fair and just reviews (he freelances a lot, and lives in the same city as me). He said in his review that it was silly to expect the game that they wanted to deliver, because what they wanted was the perfect game, and it would of been almost impossible to achieve that. What let the review down was the games shortness, and several other small areas, like the graphics engine - it was meant to be high-tech, and such, but instead it's just a run of the mill engine, that hardly stands up to todays games.
I just finished the game, and I can completely understand why it got 86% in their review. When you finish it, you'll understand exactly what I mean :/.
Oh, and the multiplayer alpha has been out for about a year or two now, hence why wierchas has probably had it. It's all over the warez sites. --- Cache Clearer |

The story's very so-so (so far), and the combat is fairly unforgiving. The game does scale well though, it runs fps smooth on my 9800pro. There's a detachment from the characters and the storyline.

Just wondering, whats the rest of your system likes, and what settings do you run it at?
I want to buy it, but dont really want to play through a lagfest

The game is complete crap tbh. Interface is buggy. Missions are buggy. Animations tend to "lag" a bit. The controls seem sluggish and detached (hard to explain). Large areas with no means of transportation. Weapon model (ie. damage, recoil and such) is annoying. More RPG elements kthnx.
Alot of small things that really should have gone out in the x years they have had to develop this thing. I don't mind small bugs or that everything isnt completely polished, but this is too much.
Budget title.
