When I first saw him undock, I was concerned (thought had to be a bot, yada yada). I was quite pleased to read the technical articles on what he was doing.
Pretty much, one keyboard doers the input of all the clients. Its no different than if he had a huge mechanical rig that he moved in order to input commands on 20+ keyboards. Except easier.
And for those claiming he is botting, you are a moron/troll (hard to distinguish at times). He is no more botting than any single account user who sits and plays the game. There is no automation. |

A better analogy would be to ask wether the lights in a ballroom all turn on at the same time with the flick of one master switch, or each and every single bulb needs to have its own switch.

Gotta say though I'd love to see this imagined mechanical device, that some people have used in there arguements, that could do the same thing. That would be some mechanical monstrosity.
At the end of the day I feel a lttile sorry for him, most of the fun to me is the sense of comradary, achievment is sort of secondary to my mind. When he says ' I bust 3 monitors in a rage over some problem' or somesuch you got to think , stable much?. Also 'My gran gave up smoking so I could blag more of her money of her' ... er ye man get a grip fella, apply these talents you got to doing something a little more than entertaining yourself, and maybe support yourself at the same time.  |

What if he would do ice mining with 10 pilots, the first is controlled manual, the other 9 are booted up with a botting program who simply wait for a target and then activate their modules (those assist programs exist).
This would be legal too in your opinion?
Dont tell me theres a difference if he uses ISboxer or some random other botting program which do the same thing.
But anyway, we should leave him like he is. Guess he would kill himself if CCP would destroy his hobby and only reason to wake up every morning :foreveralone:

You don't get it. All of the clients are controlled manually, simultaneously.
It's like a huge log-me-in session.
Each client responds to the keyboard input, as if they were one. It isn't them following what the main does. They follow what the keyboard and mouse do.
This isn't botting or automation any more than you playing is botting or automation (unless you bot... do you?). |

Pretty much but as he describes it it's a little more complex than that, he can 'focus' on single clients, groups, or all, allowing him to run diffrent 'wings' ie. DPS group would accept commands then Logi would lock tank and rep, then DPS etc. |

He plays all the characters simultaneously, each ship is identical with an identical fitting and each client layout is also identical he operates all of the computers in the cluster at the same time so each client and ship responds in the same way as the others. In the case of his logistic ships he runs 2 groups of identically fitted and simultaneously operated ships, this is no different from any other player flying say a BS and a logi apart from the fact he simultaneously operates a group of logis and BS.
He just uses lots of computers and clients and some software that duplicates key presses and mouse strokes across each one, he doesn't fly one ship and then activate macros.
If the game play was "automated" the ships would do whatever it is they do independently because they are programmed to do, just like bots would. If he doesn't operate the controls the groups of ships would be idle in the same way a ship that we fly would, bots however don't and will continue to mine, rat or w/e all day long and need no intervention.

He did have a mechanical solution at first, it was lots of mice duct taped together around chop sticks. But after CCP gave him confirmation that the duplicated software was legal he scrapped that idea and was able to operate more computers. |
