Tomorrow, if the patch comes out as predicted, will likely be my last day in EVE. From what I've read and from what my corpmates playing on Chaos tell me, my ABs and MWDs will be nerfed, I will no longer be able to make significant time saving bookmarks, and I will have to learn to blow Agents. I'm sorry...these are bad ideas gone worse.
I enjoy a game of constants. I like to know how something is going to work everytime. When changes are made that cater to a specific element or players (like the pirates will have a field day) then balance will fall to those players.
Some of the patch items are great - BS's in Belts is a great idea. That will be a good challenge.
But to hamper travel is beyond my reasoning for playing a game. And at the root of it all EVE is game, and it USED TO BE fun.

I had not read that thread before and I may need some translation. DOes this mean the auto disruption field is gone and a device will have to be used on both the inbound and jip points to capture ships?
Also, what about the distance from gate when you come out of warp? I have noticed yesterday those distances have improved greatly - some out to 32km. Will this distance change? (again)
And a message for you more sarcastic types. I played WWIIOnline for 2 years and loved it. EVE lured me away because of my love for space sims. Single player games do not interest me at all but I would hate to see EVE go from 10% pirate based to 40% within a week. And thats how I see this patch could change this game. Whats more economical? Mining or hacking players that pass by?

Slow travel is now less objectionable when you realise not EVERY gate is a death-trap.
I'd imagine the hot-spots of today will be the WFD'ing hot-spots of tomorrow....but a lot more interesting.

The only place where that will happen is in a single player game. A MMOG is not a game of constants, because of player intervention. A MMOG is not a game where something is going to work everytime, because of player intervention. Addressing an imbalance in a MMOG will come at the expense of some and cater to a specific element of players.
Since a MMOG can't meet your conditions, you were ready to quit over these conditions not being met and I didn't feel like typing all that out I skipped to the point:
You want a single player game.
Anyone that wants MMOGs generally accepts that **** Happens eventually to everyone.

No Jash, for instance I want to know that when I drop a mortor down a tube it will go 500m. But when the DEV's change it to only go 25m. Then that in NOT player intervention but DEV intervention. The constants I seek are items I work for - modules, ships, items. They should work the same, everytime. I understand these changes come about for various reasons but to change the way we travel 8 months into the game is not a good idea.

Doesnt make that big a difference, the absolutely worst part of the new patch is the AB/MWD nerf, and the warping nerf (need 50% speed to warp)

It is player intervention. What the players do with that mortar with a range of 500m is what causes the developers to intervene.
Or do you think the devs are just being asshats and the people playing the game had absolutely nothing to do with the changes?

Jash, personally I think the DEVs are trying to slow the game down. They have admitted they never dreamed to see the majority of players in BS so soon and most are screaming for mobile refineries and Titans.
Restricting travel will definately slow the game down.

"Doesnt make that big a difference, the absolutely worst part of the new patch is the AB/MWD nerf, and the warping nerf (need 50% speed to warp)"
... If it's for travel, then AFB/MWD nerf means nothing when you can still have your insta-jump bookmarks. And having to reach 50% speed means 5-10 secs per gate to build up those 60 m/sec in the indy.... hardly an obstacle.

I can see one good point to this. Maybe with all the speed nerfs this will get everyone back into cruisers because BS will be too combersome to fly.
Maybe?

Lester grow up you sound like you must be 14.
As for the topic one note to hellmars post is that he said for .3 and lower. This means for .4 and higher travel shall still be slower which is what i think the devs intended. But at least minning 10 jumps from the nearest station will not be hampered. However i forsee many complaints ahead with use of the warp disruptor field units. I will however enjoy them untill they get nerfd. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

... Uhmm no, he said that because the inhibitor fields weren't applied to gates in 0.4 and higher in the first place. ^^;;

Yeah right, you're saying you use instajump BM's when going 45 jumps into 0.0 ?

Using j0sephine's worst case scenario of 10 seconds to build up speed and your destination 45 jumps into 0.0. Total added travel time:
7 minutes 30 seconds.
If you're quitting over that, kthnxb1!

As Jash said, the added time isnt worth quitting over.
If you weigh it up this way, I did a 17 jump route last night to go and get my self some equipment. I hit the auto pilot (checked the map for a safe route before hand) and then went and had dinner.
If you honestly say that you have 17 Book marks for such a trip then I think your pulling my leg a little too much. I have book marks for 4 jump and 7 jump trips but thats only for a specific run and even if I do lose the Bookmark feature. I still have some form of Afterburner to speed me up to get to the gate.
So overall, no real lose. I still get to my destination.
But as I have said with others. If this is annoying you to the point of quitting or its turning it into a PvP hell hole for you. Here is your perfect Game. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
