Maybe if the UI wasn't written by a poorly trained monkey, things like this wouldn't happen. Being Warp Scrambled. Having an Aggro Timer. These are things that should have a clear visual indicator.
God only knows why they don't.

CCP once mentionned they'd like an "scrambled" indicator, looong ago...
Another of those pretty essential things that Eve still lacks. ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

You are right. Let me rephrase:
People should not lose ingame stuff because of things they need to do in real life, simple as that. The titan pilot was not playing when he lost his ship, so reimbursement is the only logical conclusion.

I needed to go to the toilet while sitting in a complex, and my ship got blown up.
I wasn't there when it happened so I should get my ship reimbursed.

While we are talking about aggression timer , I see no sense that an agression Timer ist set from a CorpMember or GangMember when he shots you.
_Things I want CCP to change :
1. Where do I get that Information first handed from CCP ? Im playing the Game now for more then a year and dont have a clear understanding , a newbie will have no chance in knowing ;(
2. Why do I get no in game information about Aggression Timer ? ( As in hidden Aggro )
3. There is a warning is the game almost for everthing ( should the mining laser be fired on the asteriod ;) ) but there is no info if I try to log off and an "client Agressiong Timer" is still set. ( Looking for an option which gives me that information )
4. No Aggression Counter set, when the dmg ist made by a friendly source ( GangMember, CorpMeber ... )
5. It should be in NO way possible to force an Agression Timer on someone if the client is disconnected

The only problem I see with this mechanic is that it is entirely possible to sit next to a ship in a covert ops frigate, wait until he log, quickly uncloak and fire a smartbomb. When clicking control Q, you're out of the game, but your ship is not that fast, it'll start moving, reach full speed and warp, stay in space for 2 minutes and disappear.
This means that your attack to prevent his ship from disappearing happens after the player has actually left the game. Now consider the ship in question is a titan. They ain't exactly nimble ships, you could scan down one of these babies and warp to it, before it did a 180.

Simple - Add pvp agression timer counter on the top left like you get with empire ganking or npcs or logg out timer what ever.

Losing a titan in anyway other than a bug or exploit is only the fault of their stupidity
Tricking people through social engineering into a situation that could put themself at a disadvantage is a very valid, and perhaps only reasonable strategy to killing a titan at the moment.
I don't imagine any titan dying of regular combat anytime soon. -------------------------------------------------- Yes I'm a forum alt, what you going to do about it? |

So when are u fixxing the more importen problem with logging then?

Your game was running, so you were playing.
His game was not running, so he was not playing.
That is why he should get a reimbursement and you should not. Even more so because his involves such an expensive and rare ship.

Yes, let's make a ship so great it takes years of concentrated effort by a large group of players just to get someone into one. Let's make it a mobile station and an invaluable corp asset. Let's make it the most complex 3d model in the game and a long term goal for every serious eve player to at least be docked in one once. Let's make it rock.
And then let's totally **** up the game mechanics so you can get it killed while you're offline, and not even realize it. Sorry, but this situation just sucks. At the very least the player should get a very BIG timer and a popup warning (with no off switch) every time he logs off in a killable situation. C'mon CCP, stop backstabbing you're playerbase. It was crap for Cyvok, it's crap for whoever lost the Erebus. It's crap for me to have to watch.
Revelations of sleazy game design.

Someone on the many forums I frequent made a good point. Surely this point should apply to the latter example you mentioned?
Quote: 12.1 What is an exploit?

Originally by: Dark Shikari 1. The titan pilot was outside of the bubble. AFAIK, inside, you cannot set off a smartbomb.
2. The titan pilot had damage messages off.
If either of these were not true, the titan would likely have not been lost.
Damage messages were probably on. There's a rather sizeable window of opportunity during which a closed client isn't removed from local yet, and hence still aggressable - he only becomes unaggressable (with the exception of sticking the timer during his next session) after he has left local, which does not coincide with the client exiting.

Finally, you see the light. The Titan pilot did get the indication he received damage. It was in his logs. If he didn't check it, that's his fault.
I'm glad we agree on this, you can stop posting now.

Why are CA even arguing this point ? If it wasn't BoB who got the titan kill their wouldn't be such a big fuss about it. Oh and it wasn't such a big problem the other day when You guys jumped into JV1V forcing all LV pilots to crash with the node. Then you all took advantage of the fact a dev/GM then moved you guys to M-R by jumping back into a now undefended system and POS, while the LV pilots were still trying to log in.
C'mon why has the eve community all of a sudden lost the ability rationalise.

Read what the dev said again troll.
Using In-game mechanics, and nothing of an exploiting manner, the player used a micro-graviton smartbomb against the titan; giving him 15 minutes agression timer.
Say what you want, he was shot at because he was a silly bear, he wont get the titan back.

How many times do i have to say it, we jumped in with a huge fleet there to kill some few titans, is it hard to understand?
Well i understand that you would have jumped in with a 50 man fleet on a fleet of 450 peoples on the other side, where 2-3 of them are Titans, some of them are carriers, and was a bunch of fighters there to.
About the Node crashes, it's no one faults because IF LV had jumped in to us, then the Node would have crashed anyways, so it's CCP's fault.
And i don't care what you are saying, i would have sayed the same if it was RA that had killed the Titan, if RA had been an enemy to D2.
So stop with your useless crap talking

The aggression timer was put in so that people could no longer simply logout to save their ship if they get attacked. It was never meant to be used to prevent people from logging out at the end of the day as they normally would this is made worse when we now have ships that cant dock like titans and motherships.
Clear exploit of crappy game mechanics.
Since there is not response from CCP yet, I can only assume that they are talking to t20 to get all relevant facts together..... or should we talk about credibility?

I doubt there's any good explanation as why it shouldn't be visible, so why the delay in making it visible ? It can't be THAT much work, now can it ?
