Everything's been fine with my game until last night.
I usually run the game on two instances (two Eve's running) in window'ed mode, at a smaller resolution than my monitor is set at, so I can switch back and forth and do other things while I'm on eve.
Well suddenly when I log on last night, all of my settings are reset???
Everytime I load up the game now, they settings are reset, even if I switched them back to my usual preferences.
The resolution is very small, and other video settings are turned down. A alt character on my main account has his portrait up first (when it has always been my main character), and the chat in-game looks different.
I switch it all back, but by the time I restart the game, its back to reset again?!?!
Any clues guys?
One of my corp m8's advised I switch my password, which I did, but to no effect.

since you are running two copies of eve, i assume you know where they are installed,
delete the cache in both of them
i know this is the normal gm result but its the best advice i can offer for this

It sounds like your setting folder has become corrupt or non writeable. Rename your cache\settings folder to something like Settings_OLD and try re-run eve, setup some settings, quit the game and restart, see if that fixes the problem. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

This is also occuring just loading up one Eve.
And it even keeps giving me the option of selecting, "Do Not Ask Me This Again" upon exiting the game, everytime dispite me clicking that.

I renamed the folder to Settings_OLD but nothing happened when I tested it in game.
Was there something else that I was supposed to do?

Might sound stupid, but, disk full? Sometimes it's the most obvious cause that gets overlooked.

Is there any space left on the partition your eve installation is on for the config to be written to?

Um, what?
I did new settings in the game, as I said above, and it did not work.
So if your talking about something else, be so kind as to explain, what your talking about.

Make sure that none of the folders in the installation is set to Read-Only. This setting might change after any updates you've made. |

All i can think of now is rename the cahce folder to cache_OLD and try set all the settings, quit eve, and relog in. Or fresh install.
How are you quitting the game? try these after setting your settings to test : try ctrl+q, try escape > quit game, try pressing the red X then please post your results here. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

Reinstalling is a last resort, i would prefer to try all possibilities before resorting to reinstalling the entire client. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

I have been logging on, putting my settings back, and exiting the game by hitting Esc, and then selecting Quit Game.
And I'd very much prefer to not do a full reinstall... the last time I did that it deleted all of my notes and eve mails which I use.

Ok, try renaming the cache folder completely to see if this makes a difference. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

Rename it to what, will it make a difference?
I'm trying Cache_OLD right now, but I just dont see how renaming the folder would make a difference... but then I didnt design the game so I'm going with you guys.

Changing it to cache_old forces the client to make a new version of the folder from scratch, this should fix any corruptions in the folder / files. If a file corruption is to blame, this will solve the problem and should allow the client to save any new settings you set
So in short, rename the cache folder to cache_OLD log into eve setup your client settings the way you want logout log back in let me know if the settings have been saved.
If this doesn't work, then the problem does not lie in the cache folder so i'll have to think of something else. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

Make sure youre entire Eve folder isn't set as read-only. Select it, right click on properties, deselect read-only button if available and set to change all subfolders. Also before trying to reinstal, do a complete scandisk to rule out bad/corrupt sectors in your drive.
When you rename your settings folder, is a new settings folder created?

Ok, go to the EvE folder, right click it, click properties, uncheck the "read only" tab (this will appear to reset in windows if you view the properties again) apply the changes to all sub folders anf files and try once more.
If this doesn't work, all i can think of is, unfortunately, reinstalling the client. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

Remove your Settings folder, and save it in a safe place, then re-install the game
Once you have done so, put the Settings folder back....if you still have problems, your Settings folder is corrupt
