Originally by: Taddesse Easily anything by Pink Floyd suits EVE, with their psychadelic/spacey metaphorical sound and lyrics. Just listen to Echoes off Meddle while cruising through space. . . awesome every time.
Absolutely. The easy going psychadelic sounds of Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon are always company to me. For PvP? especially Pirating? AC/DC all the way. For ratting? Any easy-sounding (though not necessarily soft) bluesy 70's rock. The Eagles, Led Zep, you know. Something to have playing in the background. Also, I enjoyed the Battlestar Galactica season 1 soundtrack very much. - "The Mains Created the alts They rebelled They look...and feel...human Some are programmed to think they are human There are many alts. And they have a plan." - Forumstar Galactica |

I'm no music critic - in fact I'm hard pressed to find much thoughtful music that I dislike. Tear apart at your own discretion.
Grandaddy - Under The Western Freeway
An album for sucking roids if ever there was one, this would be equally well placed for those moments when you're staring at a black screen in Jita. Music that makes you just not care any more. There are two tracks that don't quite fit - 2) "AM 180" and (if I remember the tracklist correctly) 7) "Summer Here Kids" - but as long as the rats turn up at this point or the grid finally loads, it should remain quite fitting. Technically I suppose it's "california rock-pop" - at least, if you chuck it into Pandora you'll get back stuff like Pavement.
Advisory: Falling asleep at the keyboard is quite probable. Especially halfway through the fifteen minutes of cricket sounds...
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Ideal for those long hauler trips, this is possibly the greatest album to leave the british isles in the last 40 years next to <insert beatles album here>. Uncomplicated and heartfelt, if this doesn't get to you you're dead inside ;) Technically, this is "folk" bordering on "folk-rock" but don't let that put you off.
Mogwai - Come On Die Young
Who'd have thought good music could come out of Glasgow? You'll either love it or hate it - works equally well for both ratting/missioning and PVP. Technically "post-rock" I suppose, but it's a must-hear at any rate.
Yo La Tengo - The Sound Of The Sounds Of Science
Another mining album, like the first recommendation this album comes with a warning: if listened to at the end of a day you may stop caring, and will probably fall asleep. This album jumped out at me - but don't bother looking up anything else in their reportoir if this appeals to you, as it's one of a kind.
Sigur Ros - () (CCP - can you tell me what the hell to make of this name? )
I love this album, but you feel like a fool listening to this in anything small and fast. Save it for those freighter runs...

Call me nutter but anything by Hybrid usually gets me going just fine. Albums: Wide Angle (1999), Morning Sci-fi (2003) or I Choose Noise (2006).
Anything by Above and Beyond also works. They don't really have much of an individual albulm, as they do mostly re-mixes and individual artists work in Japan, Europe, and the US.
Yes Trance-like. I have other tastes though. Muse Yeah Yeah Yeahs Boards of Canada ATB Tiesto Massive Attack Blank and Jones Filter Unkle
Heck, I usually just plug it all into Pandora. (No ofence to EVE music, but it just plain makes me lose interest if I keep that on.) My list of what I like is very big. I could go on about the 80's music that I love...
Someone mentioned sondtracks...I'm a geek, I sometimes stick on some Star Trek music CD's and have MP3's of music from Morrowind, Icewind Dale, Baulders Gate, and a few other games that I sometimes put on. I'll certainly have to try the Dune recommendation. (And if you want to try wied, try the soundtrack from the movie: Event Horizon. it was doen by Orbital and fits EVE:Dark and creepy.)
For any J-pop, J-rock fans, I'm a tad old school having lived there in the late 90's, but Supercar rocks (I actually knew them in RL, from Hachinohe-shi in Aomori-ken.). I also tend to favour re-mixes of old Ayumi Hamasaki and the like. (Above and Beyond for example did sweet as re-mixes there)

Mining / Trading -
I would go for most DJ Shadow stuff, Orbital, some (more relaxed) Aphex Twin maybe Bat for Lashes.
Fighting -
Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster. "YOU GOTTA PROVE YOUR A MAN NOT A BOY! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" 1st album is better than the 2nd I reckon. QOTSA

"Substrata" by Biosphere - possibly the best ambient album of all time for chilling out to,
For mining I prefer early Porcupine Tree - and anybody into Pink Floyd (especially the more ambient stuff) should check them out too.
"Stars die" by Porcupine Tree is utterly gorgeous for mining, especially the title track and "Colourflow in mind"

Huelgas Ensemble - In Musica Vivarte
Okay, so a lot of it is choir music... very emotional but ambient choir music, with a full 17th century ensemble of musicians. Most of it is quite religious in nature (quite perfect if you're Amarr, eh?).
"Venite exultemus Domino" also works quite well when smiting people.

Monster Magnet: Tab
A solid slab of pure psychedellic sound, and mostly instrumental this is the real Magnet experience. The first track (Tab) weighs in a 35 minutes of stoned echoing psychedelia with insane mutterings and creeping sound echos... Spaced out in the extreme, makes you think that Spine of God was selling out!
Asteroid - Kyuss. Says it all - An instrumental soundscape that conjours images of a rock rolling through space. Ideal for long journeys, setting bookmarks and mining. Goes on for ages, much like mining....
Another Girl, Another Planet - The Only Ones. Ok its about smack, but the first line sums up 90% of the Eve Player base, "I always flirt with death, I'll get killed but I Don't care about it'. Actually a jaunty number, short but sweet, with plenty of space travel 'metaphor'. One for the mission runners among you.
Ladys and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space - Spiritualised. Little bit of everything for everyone. From PVP killing in Come Togeather and Electricity, to carefree mining in 'Love in the Afternoon' to hunting for prey to Cop Shoot Cop (with Dr John on Piano). Beautiful sounds, from one of the worlds pre-eminment amatur Astronaunts....
Miners Song (Individual Track of the March 18-23 Album) - Uncle Tupelo - An old Wobbly classic about the plight of miners, the poor wages and the hard dangerous work. Ideal for inciting the mob to lynching Farmers and Macros... Hard Country folk, but thats ok because its about miners, and nothing is more mining than country folk.
L'Internationale and the Red Flag - Easily downloaded, and the most well known songs of rebellion outside of American Dixie, ideally suited for all Gallente Freedom Fighters and Matari anti-Slavers, all you need now is the berret and a little beard and the Evil Empire will fall. Alternatively if a more Brutor sound is required, replace with any of the Rage Against the Machine Albums.
Wagners Ride of the Valkyre - Should be played over Comms. Scares the **** of of Sanchas.

No one's mention Rush yet? Its one of the best band's to play Eve to imo.
Rush - Permanent Waves An excellent album by the progressive-rock trio Rush. It begins with classic rock staples Spirit of Radio, and Freewill, which has a nice sound to it while you're blasting through space. The album continues like this through the final song, the mini-epic Natural Science, concerning man's responsibility to the arts and science, which is divided into a calm intro, followed by three distinct, high-energy parts, with a distinct futuristic feel. The album is a good listen throughout, and easily one of the band's best.
--- Wheels within wheels in a spiral array, a pattern so grand and complex. Time after time we lose sight of the way, our causes can't see their effects. |

Excellent choice sir.
After listening to it earlier, I think "French Disco" by Stereolab would be a great accompaniment to a PvP vid featuring Gallente.
Might I suggest "Rocks" by Primal Scream for mining to. (unless its already been mentioned). Alternatively, "Every Day is Like Sunday" by Morissey

Definitely Sigur Ros -- () and Takk are good, but my favorite is still -gµtis Byrjun. Ethereal rock with bowed guitar and lyrics in a language that even Icelanders cannot understand! What could be better for hanging around in the vacuum of space?
In answer to the previous question, the band is named after the lead singer's sister.
Phillip Glass isn't bad either...

For PvPing nothing beats Metallica's entire Master Of Puppets cd :) Just something about the soothing instrumentals of Steve Morse to mine by, or for tht matter about to own or be owned by someone while hearing Hetfield screaming in the background "You must die, back to the front" :) ------------------ Oderint Dum Metuant - "Let Them Hate, So Long As They Fear" |
