For me I love skinny puppy and its great in the sci-fi atmosphere though if im dogfighting I like abit of Iron Maiden - Aces High :)
BUT last night I discovered how much more fun EvE can be when you listen to the Firefly soundtrack! Flying through the 'verse and getting upto shady business deals with shady folk, it makes you feel right at home.

apart from sigur ros as previously mentioned...i also listen to a lot of Jean Michel Jarre when playing eve, also a lot of sci-fi movie soundtracks, it is very very rare i listen to music whilst playing with lyrics that you can understand. Sigur Ros has that attraction cause they don't actually sing in a real language ;)

The Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack fits quite well when you're mining or running missions, but dosen't quite fit the mood for PvP -----

Mining music : Id have to go with either Nine Inch Nails "Fragile" Album or Dream theater's "Train of thought" Just because i like loud heavy sounds to keep me alert when i mine.
Combat Music : Arch enemy "Anthems of rebellion" album, Agathodaimon "Serpents embrace" or Nightwish's "Once" Although out of randomness, if i know im going to get into a fight ill play "For those who fight further" by the black mages.. :p Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |

Strike Anywhere goes nice with EVE. The lyrics are so ironic, when you look at EVEs corporate atmosphere.

Why is this sticky and clogging up the top of OOP? Can't see why it's particularly more interesting than most other threads.

I'm still part of a group that seems to get smaller n smaller but I like trance, progressive, psy-trance and chillout. Got several stuff I like to listen to while in EVE:
Airwave: Triloqique Album Miika Kuisma: Inwardgaze & Sententia (both albums) Tracks from John '00' Fleming

Edited by: Cmdr Baxter on 21/12/2007 04:19:18 Great Big Sea's numbers tend to be pretty good for mining and combat tunes. They make better listening than the ones in the game, at least. (No offense CCP! Please don't make my Ferox vanish from my hangar! )
Ones in particular that I tend to have replaying are;
- Recruiting Sargeant (combat; there's some good history behind the Blue Puttees, btw) - Seagulls (mining) - General Taylor (mining) - The Night Pat Murphy Died (combat or mining) - Ordinary Day (mining; very ironic tune for mining) ____
It was a magnificent display of trained and disciplined valour, and its assault only failed of success because dead men can advance no further.

Totally agree with the the NIN and Einsturzende Neubauten camps for pure agression, and the Satriani and Floyd camps for a slightly more chilled out audiophile experience!!
But, how about Satie for ultra-chill sessions, or Rammstein for pvp-ing, heh.
And Motorhead and Hawkwind have their place, also, surely?

I don't mine, but i harvest NPCs to the sounds of Tiesto's 'Nyana' CD, especially the second one.

While I mine I'm partial to a little VNV Nation, for the whole working-industrial ethos; though the more frantic tunes never seem to coincide with rat attacks...
Missions usually have me favouring a mixture of loud, angry stuff, which tends to include the Guano Apes, RATM, Rammstein, Breaking Benjamin, Trapt, and about half of the Blade soundtrack.

Artist: Eat Static Album: Abduction
Review: I would say this fits best into the "ambient" category - it is computer-generated music that has a distinct other-worldy feel about it that suits the immersive aspect of EvE brilliantly. The tracks range from relaxing, entrancing, rhythmic melodies to harsh, jarring, jolting cacophonies. This album is definitely one that benefits from a high quality audio system that can deliver a decent Bass punch.

end of story, just put in any band you like and it generates a streaming list of music similar style. Its an amazing way to find more music you like, lots of lesser known bands. Makes the hours running missions fly by when you have unlimited awesome songs to listen to. :)

Massive Attack [ Mezzanine Album ] Portishead [ Dummy Album ] Fun Lovin' Criminals [ Come Find Yourself Album ] Morcheeba [ Who Can You Trust Album ]
The Genres are like a blend of Bristol Trip Hop / Blues / Rap [FLC] but really easy listening. Hope you like them

I love this track actually, despite it being composed entirely of slow, droning Bass. Also v.good for testing the limits of your subwoofer...

PVP Roaming Gang = Hatebreed, Hostility and Devildriver. keeps your blood high and makes you want to take on a domi in a thrasher! PVP gatecamp = Tool and some of the heavier Perfect circle Missions/Ratting = A Perfect Circle. it's all about pace and timing. apc fits the pace of missions and ratting, slightly rushed but relaxing. Mining = Eve Music, i dunno, it just fits, ambience. can't beat it for feeling like youre the only one within 100au.
