You play it on a 1.9Ghz laptop and you say my overclocked P4 is way too slow?
This might be your problem DS, a number of guys in BDCI have SC, those who had overclocked CPUs reported running into framerate problems after an hour or so of play, after dialing back to stock speeds they've reported no further issues, Overclocked CPU's are also showing up as a regular trouble maker on the GPG forums.
Doesn't make a difference; my CPU runs at a fine temperature either way ever since I cleaned it out. Underclocking it not surprisingly makes it go slower

If you experience poor performance then try using the game speed keys (numpad -/+) as this can improve framerate quite considerably.
There's a unit-command lag bug that I'm currently experiencing on 81x81 maps, but hopefully this should fixed in the next patch. -------- The Eve Diplomacy Table Eve Development Network |

droping perfomance on overclocked pIV after some time of playing is throttling for sure.

After playing the Beta of this game a month or so ago, I decided my current machine wouldn't do it justice so I slapped a grand on my credit card and got the best you could get, or as close as including an 8800GTX Card. I'm so glad I made this costly decision as it plays SC smoothly.
The requirements for the 2nd monitor though does cause even my beast of a machine to slowdown when your armies have built up a bit. Massive battles will cause slow framerates, but I find this is offset by slowing the game down a couple of steps.
Overall I quite enjoy the game, feels pretty much like the original TA did. I don't think defences are too powerful, the game makes you think tactically about what you need to do before you simply throw 500 units at your enemies defences because usually that ends up with you being slaugtered . I just like the fact you can't just rush your opponent and expect to win.
Personally I'm really looking forward to some good mods for this game, Chris Taylor has said he wanted it to be one of the most easiest and flexiable games you can modify.

I realised the larger maps lag you to hell. Had a nice 5kmx5km match against a supreme AI and won this time. Nice, nice. Apart from building like 4 shield generators beside each other (uber defensve ftw) I enjoyed the slaughter.
Anyone else like the mobile factorys. I use them as a solo pwn mobile.
