Well my love for solo piracy seems to be short lived.
I know of still a few pilots that get the buzz from solo pwnage but it seems to be a dying profession.
Now i know that ccp has said on many occasions that eve is not a solo game but i have the utmost respect for ppl who take an expensive ship out solo and pirate/pvp in hostile lands but it seems to be happening on fewer and fewre occasions due to the number of ppl who prefer to be in large groups.
So i'm curios, does this bother ppl?
is there anything that can be done to encourage solo pvp?
is the upcoming nerf on speed bs going to reduce further solo pvp'ers?
does anyone really want to solo anymore or just myself?
am i just rambling because i have had too much vodka redbull tonight?
curios

50% hp boost added with cap size boost and cap charge boost was the last straw to any kind of solo pvp.
if you fight two people, the first guy you killed has time to go fetch another ship. in the end, a 1v2 effectively turns into an everlasting battle.. until you run out of 800's or they run out of ships to board.

Soloing is just weak now. If I'm solo I'm going to roam around all day hunting for the guy or two in a belt or something. Because I'm an outlaw, I can't really risk flying around a big ship lest I get ganked, so I tend to solo in a recon. Sure the DPS is awful but it's fun and you won't lose your ship if you've got half a brain.
Anyway, I don't really do the solo thing anymore. Too boring. I'd rather just wait on a gate for the targets to come to me usually. --

Nahia is right. Solo pvp got smacked to near obsoletion once Revelations patch hit.
CCP said they want to introduce game mechanics to cut down on blobbing and 50 man gangs but everything they have been doing actually encourages it more and more.

I have to say i still love going solo, i've always hated big blobs, fleet ops etc.
It does cost me in ships but stuff it, the games supposed to be fun not a second bloody job, yes i do tend to be ****ed on occasions *cough*.
So no it dont bother me because i'll do it anyway. mind i think i'm going to have to swap to vodka and red bull. beer isnt cutting it

Solo PVP is great fun i dont like going solo say in a command ship casue i tend to get blobed but the myrmidon is great fun and i have actully escpaed some blobs with Privateers is a good allaince to have a chance for solo pvp if u can manage to evade what soon follows but a inty or cruiser are cheap enough and youll get some great action

I started pirating when Revelations came out and the majority of my time has been spent solo due to connection issues with my ISP. Pretty much no one other than other pirates will fight you (they warp off with their WCS), and those that don't try to run away usually have their corps rush over from surrounding systems.
It makes you pick up skills really fast for new (most) players though that are excellent for survival as you depend on yourself and no-one else.

I love solo pvp, I don't like battleship solo pvp mind you, my favourite solo pvp ship is my navy vexor, i'm not sure why but t1 cruisers and faction cruisers just seem like the right ship for at least low sec solo piracy.
Taking a hac to most low sec dwellers is just overkill, and there is that extra style factor :)
That said i've done some solo domi, but it's so easy to get blobbed by that 20 man gang in something like that.
Lately i've begun doing more 2-3 man gangs of bs/command ship etc which can be great fun if you find yourself slightly outnumbered and not e-war'd to death (fighting isn't fun if you cant hit or target your opponent after all).
All that said, i'm trying to quickfit a vigilant I got laying around for some solo belt action, and let's just my faction cruisers truly are faction

Personally I find this empowers me when fighting solo, but I guess it depends on playing style.

Well... here goes. Solo pvp is 4tw... group pvp is also awesome. Piracy consists of belt piracy, or belt and gate piracy. Battleships/Commandships can do do both, bc's in general and smaller are restricted to belts.
Battleships are 4tw when it comes to piracy imo, as most kills are gained at gates. On the subject of faction ships - I lost my faction fit Vindicator through piracy. Oh well eh
But solo pvp is still very much alive - imo the changes have just made it all the more fun!

I live with 2 of my boys so I'd never go out PvPing alone.
Aside from that I love solo PvPer's, they usually fit alot of T2 loot and give excelent screenies when they start crying in local after they've been ganked. Yarr etc. |

Indeed it adds that little extra thrill/kick when there's nobody to scout or watch your back. + The bigger the gang the more boring it gets for the individual exept the leader or the scout imo.
So yeah, I love solo pvp.
To make more (solo)pvp possible there should be more "meeting points" besides gates, stations and belts where people can stumble across each other.

I love solo PvP I grew up on throwing Punishers at ridiculous odds and nothing gets the heart pumping like scanning down a target, hitting warp and realizing that you're committed and you have no idea what'll happen next. "Can I beat them?" "Do they have friends nearby?" "Are any of the people in local secretly their friends?" "Are they an anti-pie trap?"
Lately I'm flying a BC a lot. Similarly to Kublai in the t1 cruisers, I think that lighter faster ships are the win for solo. You need to pick your spots and pick your targets but there is a lot to be said for filling your hold with ammo and just GOING, not coordinating with anyone or anything.

CCP is slowley pushing people into blobs. Although they claim to want the opposite, stuff like the Hitpoint increase cause people to gang up so they can kill people at the same speed as before. It just makes more sence these days to be in a gang then to go at it alone... _________________________________________________________

Nope DE your not the only one !
I was pretty much solo PvP'ing for a lot of my Eve career and for the last 8months completely. Though in the last month I have brought an empire carebear and tried to help a newish corp lol (Buy them BPO's, Be generally nice etc lol)
Though tbh I'm tempted to just kick empire in the ass and go Outlaw again :/
But, a few things make solo'ing quite hard. Blob mentality being one of them, but not the only issue.
#Scanning, Unless i'm specificly flying a Recon this is rather a burden on any of my combat ships solo. However it has become more and more needed. Especially now with WTZ, Belt pirating is fun and all that, And I love it !! But lets be fair what is a CNR with faction fittings doing in a 0.1 belt shooting NPC Bc's (Hint, It isn't !!)
Meh I would carry on with my whine but my boss is giving me really evil looks !!!

I solo low-sec pirate in frigates quite often targetting frigates-cruisers, havent come across any bc's for a while. I manage the sec hit with lvl4 mission running. If you jump in in a group people will scupper, one person with a +sec your just as likely to be passing traffic. I dont tackle anything larger than a cruiser unless in a cruiser.

I tend not to solo as it often leads to getting ganked, however I find I am perfectly able to do it. Obviously I cannot kill a heavily tanked battleship while taking sentry fire however weaker targets can easily be engaged. Join a good pirate corp and ask the guys there for advice. You probably just need a bit more experience.

Solo ?
I love to do solo pvp, but its not smtg i do in eve primetime. And it also requires a wtf pwn mobile ship.
The problem is basicly, that there is too many blobs out there trying to toast you.
However whit a alt to do the scouting and your main in a bc/cmd ship it can be done. The good old days when you could take out a taranis or crow and just go mad are long gone.
Imo. real pvp is solo pvp, or pvp whit small numbers fighting even numbers. Anny newb in this game can preform well in a fleetbattle, or a gank 10 vs 1. Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content - Cortes "Here was the brand of the cigerates i smoke"

i soloed quite a lot before Revelations. in 0.0 with my taranis.
but since WTZ, local-change and i-stabs have become the flavor of the month it's not that much fun anymore with a lone interceptor.
why?
well ... what targets can you engage with a taranis? stupid NPCers with crappy fitting, hauler, frigs and other interceptors.
stupid NPCers got their local-change .. \o/ .. hauler got WTZ and i-stabs .. w00t - no dictor? tough luck interceptors also tend to be boring targets - either they are longrange fitted crows flying 7k+ or shortrange fitted ceptors with i-stabs/nanos that insta-pop.
the problem is imho not the game-mechanic .. but more the attitude of the people. ___________________

I still consider myself as Eve's greatest ever solo pirate but those days are long gone now. Some of my corpmates do solo occasionally now and it seems that nano ships are the new version of the stabs I used to use to great effect. However I have to say that camping with my corpmates and enjoying the chat on vent are more fun than any solo experience although the actual pvp side can sometimes be a little less exciting.

more experience, that's a good one. I'm going to say nothing more on that one
So it's encouraging to see these responses tbh.
Yes i wrote this thread while hammered but the meaning behind it was true.
It would seem to me that areas are very different. after pirating around sinq laison and domain for nearly a year i have found that you do get solo pvp'ers, 90% noob npc'ers, and the rest the occasional blob. But in certain areas it seems that any target you find is bait for the blob next door.
Well i love to solo, small group, medium group and will continue to do all.
altho it seems like force recons and speed reliant ships are the solo choice of the future maybe.
