No, common DNA seeded throughout the galaxy.
But you were close.
Seriously, that is the reason they give in the fiction. In real life the reason is that it is cheap and easy.

True, aliens is something that many people automatically associate with science fiction - some would even say it isn't science fiction without them! That's nonsense, of course, but it is a fact that most popular science fiction universes have a myriad of alien races. Star Wars, Star Trek, the Traveller universe, the Wing Commander universe, and so on. Moved from Eve Library - Kreul Intentions
Are you sure about that?

I want aliens.
No not the ones from star trek...not the ones from halo...not the ones from Evolution(also known as the "Ass" Movie) But from Starcontrol 2.
Now there were some aliens
Some melnorme trader running about selling odd junk and buying coordinates to weird worlds, Ur-Quan dreadnaughts(they had it first!) cruising the skies locking all races under red bubbles, Kohr-Ah blowing everyone, including the Ur-Quan. Utwig Jugger being the pew pew toy of the month, Druuge ship design where you throw people in the furnace to pew pew and so forth!
Mainly...flagship...oooooh the flagship...

I think the interduction of a aliens maybe though jump gates or invaders would be a nice addition. I would never be against new content. Eve is a pvp game, but adding more pve to attract new customers which would equal more revenue for ccp, which I would hope would make eve better i would never be against making eve better.

Well if you think of it. What is an 'alien'.
The word alien is something unusual, different. Yes, there ARE NO aliens in eve. Why? because we now everything. If old Earth reconnected with New Eden, the Earth people would be aliens to the New Eden people.

For the curious: Rogue Drones Sansha's Nation

I think it's best when the greatest danger you can face is from your own species, and EVE plays that up quite well. Why try to unify us all against a common threat when there's plenty of threats all around us?
Besides, it saves us from CCP having to come up with an alien-sounding name that loooks good on paper, but has an unfortunate effect when read out loud. Say, like X2's "Khaak", which gave us probably the most hilarious game review ever on G4's X-Play. :)

Most definitely agreed. Aliens get too clichT very fast (at least given the level of originality and creativity they usually possess). Eve does well enough creating villains and threats just among humans.

Are you sure they are native? I always thought that they are evolved from animals that the human settlers brought with them.
I think it's a combination - from the background for example "the Hanging Long-limb is only found on one planet, Theruesse IV in the Theruesse system, located within the borders of the Gallente Federation. The Hanging Long-limb belongs to the Long-limb family of species, which are also only found there. The planet is almost entirely covered with inhospitable marshy jungles and the methane filled atmosphere is unbreathable by humans."
would be unlikely to be a terrestrial specied that's evolved to cope with a atmosphere like that.
likewise "Slaver is a native animal of Syrikos V and has been bred by the Amarrians from the time they first settled the planet more than a millennium ago. ItĘs a vertebrate with four elongated feet and a slender, fur-clad body."
suggests that there are planets with life on 'em.
but, let's face it, the great thing about eve is there's no aliens of the Jar-Jar Binks or Wookie types of sci-fi nonsense.
though I could just about see them having the Xenomorph from Alien somewhere...

What I would love to see maybe. Are like mission items like hybrid human stuff where the Empires, in secret experiments spliced the DNA of these creatures with human DNA.
Though I think Amarrians would focus on Slavery/Human DNA to engineer an efficient ground soldier that can be expended. It would be 'alien' in backround but humanish by DNA association.
Naturally we cannot play these characters, but we can carry them in our cargo holds! XD hahaha. Like exotic dancers

Don't forget the fedo's but than again they could of been bred. Afterall all knowledge of earth and the like were erased from time so they wouldn't of know if humans created the creatures and as the gate collapsed and stuff the knowledge of it dissapeared.
Oh and dont forget the Kyonoke Pit. Think that is an alien thing. --------

Ummm...hate to tell you this but Star Wars was meant to be racist to a degree. The Empire has only humans in the army/navy where as the rebellion embraced those of all races.

I could do with some aliens, provided they really were aliens. But not in EVE. EVE is about humans kicking the **** out of each other, kinda like Total Annihilation, SupComm, and Command and Conquer (you look me in the eye and tell me it's not Sci-Fi.)

BattleTech. Great universe and would make a great MMORPG in my opinion.
A lot like EVE in a few sences. Maybe thats why i like EVE so much :D
Also forgot to add that Aliens like the movie "Alien" series has a good REAL alien.
Also the Starcraft Zerg which is kinda a ripoff of Aliens in some parts and then they expanded on it and made it original. The Protoss, even though human like (most of em), were pretty kick butt too. I think Starcraft did well on their aliens.

how about bring aliens in to the eve story line, why have faction wars, why not have a invasion from another galaxy, with the aliens moving from system to system. Forcing enemies to unite to fight off these invaders.
Seed new totally alien technologies and recovered ships and rare stuff, with agent missions rewritten. Could be an excellent isk sink! Destroying POSĘs and all the build cost for more ships and modules, re-establishing the markets, and the production side of things. Introduce lots of new models and stuff iną.Make the map in to a tactical update map showing the progression of the alien invaders.
Totally unrealistic ideas and like another 2 years of work for the devĘs so doą and in fact is a produce of pure Science fiction from my beer fueled mind!!!

They should be a 5th playable race in Eve. No matter what you type in local, you hit enter and 'Marklar' pops up. Good times in Jita. ---

I say that there is a galaxy wide invasion. Make them pop up like rats, just everywhere. It will be cool to undock and see a battle in progress between Concord and the invaders. Or in 0.0 have your pos randomly attacked by a few battleships and their escorts. Even better make the "aliens" old-earth humans, after all, it has been like 15000 years since the eve gate closed. I don't think this is anything that anyone can't handle. And it would certainly liven up empire space.

Edited by: Ritorix on 16/09/2007 06:39:57 Its more approachable for an audience when aliens are really just people-in-suits. That said, I think Eve far surpasses fake-looking alien species by using alien cultures of men.
As for truly alien beings, Carl Sagan had an excellent imagination for two alien species. This from Cosmos:
"We Who Survived" "We Who Became One" In the same format, Sagan's take on mankind: "Humanity"
