DUSKULL	Posted - 2007.03.15 10:55:00 - [1] I thought I would post about a scam that happened to me recently. I could quite easily repeat the scam and rip people off but It's not my way as I have morals in RL as I do in gaming. The point of this is to maybe route out the scammers as isk can be hard to earn and is annoying when lost to a scam. Basically I came across an officer rat named Mizuro , killed him and collecting around half a billion isk of loot. Nice I'm sure you will agree. I put it on the fourm for auction and also in my BIO. I was contacted in game and asked if I would accept a buyout to which I agreed on 500 million. He then asked me to create a contract to him which I am not over familiar with the process. Following is the chat log to show how he scammed me into creating an auction to one person. Afterwards I realise that a private auction to one person is a stupid thing to do but at the time it didn't seem odd. I contacted CCP who ay that exploits arenot allowed but this is just a good scam and not an exploit. Further to that when you create an auction and someone bids you can't retract the contract so lets say you set the buyout at 5 mill instead of 50 mill by mistake then once someone has bid its too late. Anyway read chat log as it explains itself. Regards the Char in question its a noob alt in a one man corp. So nothing I can do for revenge TBH. Hope this helps some of you to NOT get scammed like I did. With the old system you could right click the item and check it was genuine. CCP admits this is a flaw with the contract system, but yet they don't ban the players exploiting it... Unfortunately, if you don't read the forums often, you don't know this is a scam until it happens to you... CCP is taking their dear old time in fixing this problem, and they are letting a lot of ppl use it to grief... Building the homestead

If you set the starting bid below your buy out, they can bid at that amount and win for much less than the buy out. For a direct contract auction, keep the min bid and buy out the same. "Another day, another million ISK"
