Not sure of the coding feasability of this, but:
Institute a new channel, called 'Mission' or what have you.
When you accept a mission, this new chat pops up.
All text from the mission goes in here.
Anyone in your gang, is also in the mission channel, and can see the text updates.
Presto, no more blinky tabs.

This'd be nice, plus your agent could chat with you occasionally in it, encouraing you o letting you know time is running out.

Only show it in active chat channels sounds nice. I usually only have local and alliance/corp/various others (pick one) open.

Put my name on this signature as well. This has to be the most annoying thing. With "Gone Berserk" I am the one going beserk, makes it impossible to talk with anybody and when it spams all the chat windows it locks up my game we have enough problems with lag without adding anymore.

Bah! Just returned from a few months eve break to run some missions and now it isn't enough anymore to get spammed with isk-for-money spam in the trade chans or the stupid come-into-my-corp or how-can-i-put-a-launcher-on-my-ship crap in the german chan - no, i have to bear spam with a lot less information in MY private Corp Chan, the only chan i still have switched to blink because IF theres someone writing in there, i really should look.
This thread exists for 2 months already. If one thinks bad of ccp, he would say that this is the job of those who want to push mission*****s out into 0.0. If one doesn't, then my guess would be that theres somewhere a dev sitting, polishing his ego since the job to get MISSIONSCRIPTS to actually PRINT some text into a chat window is - in his opinion - a really cool thing and his genius work, who doesn't want to acknowledge that HIS genius work is just a big annoyance to the player...
Well, whatever the reason - just put it under the bug-to-resolve section and solve it!

Oh... btw, i didn't try wow since the first beta test (way back when you didn't have to pay for it in europe) but... somehow that npc-shouting-into-chat looks like those statusmessages or player shouts back then. I want to play eve, not wow. :-(
