other high slot is optional (usually salvager or small smartbomb for drones) -

That's a truly terrible fit for a number of reasons. First you're mixing ranges on your weapons which is bad. You're only doing a half hearted passive tank with no hardners so that just sucks, and why the cap rechargers? Are you trying to go fast? You may be able to kill frigates with the assault and HAMs but you'll have very little luck against much else and you will have almost no tank. My drake is passive tanked with: 7X Arby Heavies 3 X Large Shield Extender T2 3 X T2 hardners (rat specific) 3 x BCS (or BCS II) and 1 damage control
with BC skill at 4

to be honest if you come up with this sort of setup in eve and have the isk to purchase a drake there is something very very wrong with this game.

Highs: 7xheavy launchers (named or t2 if you can use them) 1xsmall tractor beam (if using for missions)
Mids: 2xLSE's 3xActive Hardners 1xShield Recharger
Lows: 2xSPR 2xBCU
This setup has allowed me to run every lvl 4 mission to date. Takes a bit but it's a beast. Also, if you can afford it, a Gisti Type-A Small Shield Booster is a good alternative to the Shield Recharger in the mid-slot. Can run forever and really helps in the harder lvl 4's. Cheers.

My setup is a little different as I suspect you are using the ship for missions.
Highs: 7 assault launcher II's, tractor beam Mids: 3x Large extender II's, Invuln II and 2 rat specific hards Lows: (2x BCU II's or 1x BCU II/1x DC II) and 2x PDS II's
As you can see the theme though. Match your weapon choices, tank for the situation and set for damage and tank in your lows.

Damps to increase lock time, which makes up for the lower post-nerf jam probability. You also pretty much have to commit to a racial jammer to get a decent jam strength.
I have pretty low skills, but this setup will jam a mega with ~45% chance every 20 seconds, and the mega's signature resolution (perfect skill w/o booster) would be 29.7, for a lock time of about 50 seconds. This means that after each successful jam, the drake will have to miss 3 times for the mega to get a lock, which will occur only ~16% of the time.
Of course this is a gang setup. If you want to solo you're probably better off switching the two extenders for a 24km scram and a mwd, using a webber drone, and sticking a med nos or a shield harmonizing shield warfare link (if you have an alt to gang) in the last high slot. If you dump the extenders you'll have a lot of trouble if you miss on 5 straight cycles, though (1 in 20 chance w/my skills), and if you aren't 1v1 you're hosed.
edit: Ion Hypnos b/c minmatar ships have low sensor strength and low lock range, so you have a decent chance of getting away from a solo minmatar player, and there aren't a lot of solo Amarr/Caldari players, so Gallente jammers are the way to go. For small gangs, gallente are generally the big damage dealers, so taking the enemy mega/domi/myrm/brutix/eos/astarte out of the fight can help your gang a lot. |

Completely dependant on what you want to use it for (assuming maxskills), you can fit the Drake as just about anything you want it to be, anything from an insane passive shield tanker with pretty low (around 250) but long-range DPS against just about any target... to an active injected shield tanker with MWD and rage HAMLs (you can hit almost 650 DPS total, including drones, but it's a paper-thin setup and only deals full damage to large targets).
You really need to say what you want to use the Drake for, before we can tell you how nice or crappy your setup is. Would it be solo mission running ? Would it be team mission running ? Will it be solo PvP ? Small gang PvP ? Ganksquad ? _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

I STRONGLY doubt that a Drake is going to be able to hold a turn at 500m, or even 15km tbh, and at either range, it won't be going fast enough to bother anything small than Dread guns.

ok, this is what I have- I'm fairly new, so yes this setup isn't going to be the best in the world, I still havn't quite grasped what "active" and "passive" is other than active means you boost your shields a lot, and passive means you have high resistance- this right?
ok well here goes, i'll include what i'm hoping to have by the end of the week:
High: x7 Heavy Launcher I x1 Salvager I
Mid: x1 Warp Disruptor I x1 10mn Afterburner I x3 Large Shield Extender I x1 Explosion Dampening Amplifier
Low x1 Signal Amplifier I x1 400mm Reinforced Plates I x1 Damage Control I x1 Warp Core Stablilizer I (In training)
Is this a good setup for now? I'm training my Engineering skill and then training Tactical Shield Manipulation so that I can have x2 Invulnerability Fields and drop two of the Shield Extenders, thus decreasing my signature radius.
Help to a n00b please :)

Are you doing PvE or PvP (in a gang)? It seems you're trying to fit for both.
If PvE, the tried and true is: 7x HML, 1x tractor (just to pull in those reports or special delivery packages... use a different ship to loot/salvage) 3xLSE, 2x rat primary shield hardener, 1x rat secondary shield hardener 2xBCS, 1x SPR, 1x PDU 3x CDFP rigs
Use the best you can afford or tech2 in all spots.
Using tech2 in all med/low slots, I do all the Level 4 missions except the Enemies Abound which I turn down because of faction hits.
For PvP, do something else but you will not want to both shield and armor tank and you'll not want the WCS if you plan to fight PvE or PvP.

My 0.0 Wanna-be-cloaking-raven-drake-thing.
7x Heavies 1x Cloak 2 Invuln II, SB II, 3x LSE II 3x BCU II SPR II
5 Warrior II.
Doesn't have even the slightest problem tanking or killing a triple 1.55m angel spawn. The SB is there to negate the effects of the cloak, and the cloak is there so you can **** off hostiles when they jump in system with a covops.
Since it has 3 BCU II, it can be useful in pvp if it has to be, but I don't like putting her in harm's way if I can avoid it. That's what the Gankageddon is for.

Ehh i'm kinda just trying to make money by ratting then salvaging the wrecks. Tbh i only had the WCS because i lost my uninsured Ferox to CWA (oops xD that will teach me to check local more often). But now i have got rif of the WCS because it cuts down my targeting range LOADS! so yeah... I scrapped one LSE seeing as they use up tonnes of Powergrid, and i couldn't put all my heavy launchers online with 3, they boost my singnature radius a lot, so my CURRENT setup is:
High: x7 Heavy Launcher I x1 Salvager I
Mid: x1 Warp Disruptor I x1 10mn Afterburner I x2 Large Shield Extender I x2 Explosion Dampening Amplifier
Low x1 Signal Amplifier I x1 400mm Reinforced Plates I x1 Damage Control I x1 Local Powerplant Manager
I will try that setup soon however- firstly i need the money to insure this thing though :)
edit: can you say what those abbreviations are? haha sorry xD

HML = Heavy Missile Launcher LSE = Large Shield Extender BCS = Ballistic Control System SPR = Shield Power Relay PDU/PDS = Power Diagnostic Unit/System
I would suggest that you figure out whether you want to shield tank or armor tank and do that (don't try to do both, IMO). As far as the afterburner, that's your choice but I don't use them on Drakes and it costs a slot you could be using for tank or EW. Drakes are too slow to chase anything even with the AB, IMO. I'm guessing the explosion resists are for the rats in your area... but you may want to consider invulnerabilities because shields already have high explosive resists naturally but from pirates, they'll likely throw anything at you and with that big of holes in your other three you'll go down pretty quick. Personally, I'd lose the WCS and signal booster and just watch local and intel channels. If a hostile/neutral comes into your system (or you hear they're headed your way), bounce around safe spots or a POS until they leave (or you do).

Hi there, you guys are totaly off course I myself use pvp drake and this is the BEST setup for drake,
HighSlots: 7x t2 heavy missile launcher 1x Small Nosferatum ( trust me this comes in handy)
Medium Slots: 3x t2 Large Shield Extenders 2x t2 invul field 1x t2 Em Hardener (-55% em resistance)
Low Slots: 4x t2 Shield power relays.
Rigs: 2x t1 Shield Extender ( +30% shield) 1x t1 Shield Regeneration ( +20% shield regen) or put 1x t1 Missile Launch rig ( -15% rof) for better damage but this will decrease your tank.
½------------------------------+½-------------------------+
Even so i tanked a navy raven issue with 7x t2 cruise launchers, and she couldunt break my tank it didnt past 50%,
this tank is a passive one it consists on shield regeneration.
regards, Refusion

My lord everyones got a death wish here, talkin bout active tanking, armor tanking, pure ecm fittings, and alot of off the wall nonsence...lol Drakes are made to be passive.. Active tanked Drakes will die sooner than ya hope,,Ya want it to be good, but its not... Get your resists all above 70%, slap on T2 relays, and some T2 Purgers and suprize!!!! Your tanking all day at 90% shields....lol And remember folks, shield extenders only delay the inevitable, if ya can recharge more than ya get hurt, and never worry bout cap,you will be just fine:) ....Or never mind me and just die real fast...lol Fly Safe
