It IS a bit shocking to see such an old thread describe so accurately the problem I'm dealing with tonight... I hope it isnt usually like this, but some sort of freak accident on CCP's side. As a contracter I cannot opt to just bypass Jita. Jita is my lifeblood and the heart of my operations - it is a trading hub after all!

Simple workaround that nobody seems to have mentioned: Start trading one jump out of Jita - spread it out a little.

I was just trying to pass through Jita, didnt think anything bad would happen... now i'm locked out of the game, can't login, and have been waiting 30 min. Seriously, this is bad. :/

I've been locked out for over an hour. Try to login, and it keeps sending me back to the char selection screen after 10 minutes of waiting.

If CCP nerfed Jita, another system would become the new Jita hub. My guess would be somewhere like "Amarr" or "Yulai".

I just recently started my 14 day trial and I like what I've seen so far. On the other hand I find it seriously frustrating to read (experience ingame), that laggissues such as this haven't been dealt with for nearly a YEAR by now. I've been hoping first that it's a shortlived problem which will just take a day, max a week, to fix. Right now I'm wondering if the game is really worth the monthly fee. I'll finish my trial and decide then, but right now it's a close call that I'll be looking for something else.

Originally by: Oriella Trikassi Jita lag is player created. There is no possible change that CCP can make to the game to remove it
BS. Of course there are changes they could make to remove it. So far they haven't come up with a way to solve it that makes economical sense (obviously, otherwise thye'd have done it). But it's just plain ignorant to say it is not possible to solve by technical means.
Originally by: Oriella Trikassi It's a game feature, not a bug or fault.
Of course it is a fault. The system (technical real-life system, not star system) is overloaded. The servers and/or software cannot handle the current load. Obviously that is a fault.
There are two ways to solve the lag. Either by brute force, making the system able to handle a greater load (more servers, faster server hardware, better code, more and faster whatever) or by making game changes that reduces the load. The first is obviously not economical for CCP, but the other might be. An example of such a change might be to ban trial accounts or really new accounts from jita, but then again that might cause unexpected consequenses.
Either way. It is an overload of the system and of course that is a problem and a fault. Your comparrisons with real-life is not valid because real-life is not a simulation, eve is (ok, in theory RL might be as well but there is no way to tell). RL exists on its own terms, eve exists to entertain the paying customers, therefore this is a fault and it is not overly bright to claim otherwise.
Not too bright, are you? They have already upgraded the Jita node twice. Result? Less lag for a week or two, then people bogged the system even more because "Hey, it's not lagging anymore lol!". Great, now it's lagging again. Only way to solve Jita lag is to remove it. And then some other system becomes the new Jita. Like has happened before.
YOU can solve Jita lag. Don't go there.

I second the comment made somewhere above. I am a new player, and it took me two hours to pass through Jita the other day. Going the long way round is a nightmare. We shouldnt have to do this. CCP need to find a way of allowing more bypasses by adding stargates to systems close by. All this "we create the problem by playing" is rubbish. Ok then, we will solve CCP`s problems by cancelling our accounts. They will all need new jobs. Good-bye EvE.
They need to sort it. How much money are CCP wasting by paying developers to unstick characters from Jita? They need to "discover" a few deep space "Accelerator Gates" around Jita that allow you to skip the system.

When I was hanging around in The Forge, for first 3-4 months, the main problem was that when I was setting up destination and turning autopilot on, most of the time i was passing Jita. It's a crossroad, hard to avoid, if you don't want to plot your course manually. So adding useful option "avoid listed systems" to autopilot would help a lot i think.

Dont know if it was suggested already but, why dont put a player limit on the system, so that if the system gets unresponsive, the entry gates start to deny access till its responsive again?
yes it's not a solution, but it would help. people wouldnt get stuck, people wouldnt be ****ed off that much. they had to wait on the gates, sure, or choose another destination.
i think this would be better than to fill jita up till it drops, as long as there is no other solution.

what really annoys me is not the lag in Jita, but the fact that when I decided... ok.. im going to open a petition to ask to be unstuck from Jita... i was greeted with a message saying...
"You are not allowed to make a petition because you have exceeded your limit for today".
ok... 1. this is the first petition i have ever created in EVE, let alone TODAY. and 2. very rude GM or automated system that caused this message. 3. either fire that GM or throw away that program, not acceptable message to my first ever petition. 4. others make petitions to get unstuck from Jita and they get their wish, why not me?

How to not get stuck in jita in easy to follow steps :
1. Try to avoid this sistem i know i know stuff might be cheaper and in larger quantities but it's your fault for pushing the servers limit.
2.If you really have to go to jita avoid "rush-hours" like weekends or evenings.
3.Did your business ? Then get out !
4.Stop spamming local if someone want's your faction door knob or officer windshield wiper they can search the contracts by themselves .
5.Don't log out in jita , chances you'll log back in sucesfully are slim . (try near downtimes)
5.Got stuck ? Stop posting here and crying like a baby and file a petition .
One ideea to lighten the load would be to limit players to place sell/buy orders for speciffic types of merchandise in speciffic sistems (jita would be module hub next sistem would be mineral hub etc... all in the same constelation) give each sistem it's own node . That or make jita 0.0 and disable local chat .
PS Whoever does not agree please make your own mmorpg.

Im sure its not hardware related, as CCP clearly bathes in cash monthly.
Its engine related. After all like all great game engines out there, they all have a concurent (multi)player limit to them. Either its 16, 20, 32, 64 player game at any given time.
Unless they find a way to program a way that many more clients can coexist in one system (atleast 8x more) Jitta and other systems will still be laggy.
Brute force is the stupidest first choice you would choose if youre a game developer. I mean, if you allready own a super computer and have some fancy network switches at your disposal you will never see 100% load. But the problem still persists. Why all this lag even if you have all this power?
Programming and stupid use of generic drivers/software etc. Write your own. Optimize it to your needs.

Don't go to Jita. Or buy stuff from another system and make out a hauler contract for that. Let someone else do it for you, I do! Props to haulers!

I dont profess to understand how the Eve computer system works and niether can I be bothered to troll through the 3 previous pages of posts all relating to the same issue, no doubt this question has been asked before but I will ask again, how is it that I can run 2 clients, one flying with no lag/problems in Lonetrek whilst the other freezes on jump in to jita and then refuses to log in. This would clearly seem to mean there is a hardware/resources issue server side and if so why cannot Jita be split into 2 or 3 segments interconnected say, Gates to control jumping etc, another for stations local space and stations themselves (maybe J4 Cnap needs its own server if it has not already got one).
Whilst on the subject of lag it is noticable the game performance degrades when the player population rises above 22k or so. I notice this as I play at all times of the day GMT time and during normal UK working hours Eve is smooth with opening wrecks/ cans / market searches all happening pretty much as they used to 2 to 3 years ago however as I said when population rises much above 22k lag starts to appear. To this end I would suggest CCP start to consider splitting Eve in half population wise to maintain game performance. By this I do not mean 2 separate enviroments but just to control numbers(say do it by balancing regions) which are clearly affecting some part of the hardware/game.
The sad thing is even with the 'best' hardware available today Eve is growing out of it so things will only get worse more of the time unless a radical change is persued. I have been playing for 3 years plus now and have to admit I enjoyed the game far more when there were max 12k people online on Sundays. Having said that Eve is still the best which is why I am still here. |

I've spent about half an hour trying to log in now. I've gotten in but I can't seem to undock from the station. Speaking without any knowledge of the code that CPP has written for this game, I think there are serious resource management problems with the current code. Something is being handled really inefficiently.

May be CCP can add for example a checkbox with "do not load all player's ships in solar system" and "disable chat" - because if you want to go through Jita - you don't need to see or communicate with other players in system. and move all agent missions from Jita to somewhere else.

Lolnecro. Also not going to happen, best solution for now would be an "avoid Jita" option in autopilot. _

Now there is Jita instead.
