Edited by: Willow Mayhem on 01/04/2007 20:55:52 Yeah, I know its obvious. Jita always lags. But something is seriously wrong there today. Everyone just got booted off and its taking 20 to 30 mins to log in there or jump in.
As paying customers, this should not be acceptable. It has been a known issue forever with no solution in sight. Meanwhile, I can't even get to a character to change their training.

Hi Willow,
Jita lag is indeed a MAJOR pain. I experienced it myself today and it was real bad. Sharkbait tried to explain to us mere mortals what is going on but it is mostly due to the sheer number of people in the system. I am sure they are aware of the issue and remember the need for speed initiative is there to also improve the situation.
Beside, I remember that they are thinking of making a constellation wide delivery system with interbus so to relieve the hub issue.
For now, we just have to try to avoid Jita especially on a sunday.

Jita lag is player created. There is no possible change that CCP can make to the game to remove it, any more than there is a change the Mayor of New York can make to eliminate crowding on the sidewalks of Manhattan.
It's a game feature, not a bug or fault.
This character has lived one jump away from Jita for years. She goes to Jita 4/4 to trade, sure, but not weekends or evenings. She would never, ever log off in Jita. She uses an Agent that doesn't give lagged Missions, which is more effective than going for the 'best' Agent and losing ships to lag.
IRL I live in the countryside, forty minutes train ride from a big city. I don't work there or travel there during the rush hour, but that's my choice.

BS. Of course there are changes they could make to remove it. So far they haven't come up with a way to solve it that makes economical sense (obviously, otherwise thye'd have done it). But it's just plain ignorant to say it is not possible to solve by technical means.
Originally by: Oriella Trikassi It's a game feature, not a bug or fault.
Of course it is a fault. The system (technical real-life system, not star system) is overloaded. The servers and/or software cannot handle the current load. Obviously that is a fault.
There are two ways to solve the lag. Either by brute force, making the system able to handle a greater load (more servers, faster server hardware, better code, more and faster whatever) or by making game changes that reduces the load. The first is obviously not economical for CCP, but the other might be. An example of such a change might be to ban trial accounts or really new accounts from jita, but then again that might cause unexpected consequenses.
Either way. It is an overload of the system and of course that is a problem and a fault. Your comparrisons with real-life is not valid because real-life is not a simulation, eve is (ok, in theory RL might be as well but there is no way to tell). RL exists on its own terms, eve exists to entertain the paying customers, therefore this is a fault and it is not overly bright to claim otherwise.

i wish more builders/traders would setup outside jita. firstly, margins are better elsewhere. secondly, there are a lot of people who would rather pay 5-10m more for a new BS if they don't have to make 30 jumps back to jita. some things you can't even get at a fair price anywhere else but in market hubs (like rigs). of course, if i lose my ship today i could just set a buy order. and wait a month until someone fills it :).
of course if you churn out ships 23/7 and need to get rid of them pronto then you need to do that in jita because that's one of the few spots with enough market activity. i sometimes build some stuff on my industrial alt and sell it at systems closest to 0.0 entry points. it still sells within a day at much more profit than in jita. less competition ftw --

I wish I'd know about this, I'm stuck there now.
On my first courier contract too. I'll loose my collateral at this rate :(
Couldn't CCP at least put up a warning before you take a gate into the system to warn you that you might get stuck on entering the system?

One step is to make another area where Doomsday devices can't be set off. So now I can't login... They need to do SOMETHING. That's what game developers do, they make a game, then fix it after they've released it while it was still beta. Oh look! It's another Microsoft strategy!

Edited by: grindel on 13/05/2007 20:31:33 Well, this amount of lag is well byeond the norm, and just unacceptable for paying customers to have to deal with. I have been unable to login for hours now. And to simply say " avoid Jita on Sundays ", well that seems to be avoiding the issue. Sunday is one of the few days a lot of us have to play uninterrupted.

Edited by: Leeluvv on 13/05/2007 20:35:45 The game stopped responding whilst I was AFK travelling. Unfortunately I didn't think about Jita being part way there, so now I'm sat on my ass looking at a login screen that keeps timing out...

I just submitted a Stuck petition through the web site with the Subject of 'Jita'. A GM moved my char out of Jita within 1 minute.
Excellent service.

Last I checked, that was true, Jita runs smooth.
I strongly suspect people are confused about the problem they are experiencing. Or just are just trolling.

You know, not to bring WoW into this but I have to...
Ironforge was NOTORIOUS for player created lag.. Blizzard upgraded servers... No more lag.
Suppose that there should be an upgrade to the servers to prevent "player" lag.

Why, did I ever even think i could go there and not be stuck in limbo. Yes, what this game needs is new content like "heat" so much more than a fix for mythical problems like Jita lag.
Sorry everyone, sarcastic whine, bourne of frustration at not being able to access contracts (the whole reason I went there), and then not being able to even relog sucessfully both before and after the emergency reboot.

Jita needs to use instances! Limit the max players to 100 per server and sort it out! I can't log in and it's winding me up! Do it! Do something!

There's a simple way to avoid stuckness in Jita... don't go there. And more importantly, don't log out there. You do that and it's your own fault.
Follow those rules until the next cluster upgrade and you should be fine.

And if you are in jita and could not log in, write a petition to ccp, that you want to set you out of jita.
10minutes later you could log in.

Have had no problems playing the last 8 days of the 14 day trial, last night, after warping to Jita, experienced lag and game stopped working. I have been to Jita many times b4, and while there is some lag it has never caused the game to stop responding.
Tried to relog 6 times, each time the game stops at "entering the world" after character screen. On 7th try, managed to get in, but extremely laggy with none of the items/journal/chat/wallet etc working, managed to warp to Nay plant, but cannot dock, after that, lagged out again
Now been trying for 7 hours to relog, still cannot get in.
Before this, have done many missions, trading in Jita, only last nite problem occured...sigh,....hope my ship is ok...cant even change my skills

Ok Devs. How about some comments here. Why make a new graphics system when you cant even play the game due to the lag.
You want more customers yet you cant even support the ones you have. Saila and Motsu are also incredibly lagged.

Actually if you ever played WoW you should know that they linked the auction houses so that there was no 'single point of failure' market hub. No server upgrade or patch they ever introduced ever 'fixed' Ironforge when it all dirt roads led to it's auction house.
This might be less practical in EvE because lets say you link Rens and Jita's markets. Now you've introduced a way to transport goods from one region to another via the market. I doubt CCP wants to do that. In WoW, this is not a concern.
