I'm still having problems. They are very rare for me. So much so that my faction lags at 2.72 unmodified while my corp is 8.86 and my agent is 9.31 unmodified as well.
My agent is lvl 3, 16 quality, 40 effective quality.
I have lvl 4 social, lvl 3 connections and negotiations and lvl 2 fast talk. I'm currently training lvl 4 connections.
I don't think this is bad luck, this has been my situation since castor. Looking at my standing you can see the huge discrepancy.
This "hack" needs another look for sure.

I'm getting a few. I work for Fed Navy; two level 3 agents, and I'm running to 2-4 important missions a day.

Everyone tells me they get 2-5 a day. I'm lucky to get one. I've been keeping track and I get 1 every 20-30+ missions, which takes many hours to do. At this rate, there is no way I will be able to keep up with decay playing casually once the holiday break is over.
I think my "important" mission frequency should be higher considering my standings with my agent and corp combined with my skills.

One trick is to fail basic missions that do not effect your standing to much.
Currently I can fail some missions for a hit of -0.12 while gaining 4.8 on my important missions.

MrPops, one in 30 missions with 5.0 agent standing was the original intended chance for IMs. Originally the code was bugged so that it was one in 30 no matter what your standing was, then it was changed so that it would be one in (35 - agent standing), Papa Smurf commented that IMs would be made "more common", I don't know if he meant the above bugfix or if he's gone beyond that formula since then. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Keyword in all this is "was." Papa introduced a "hack" patch to make IM's more frequent. A ratio of 1 IM per (35- agent standing) would be torture in combination with a 5% decay. He has already stated that they need to revise this idea so in the meantime no decay and supposedly more common IM's. That's why you see people getting 2-5 IM's a day but others like myself are still under the old rule.
There has to be some kind of bug or perhaps I'm some kind of isolated situation with extreme bad luck (which the fix was supposed to help with a timer)

This might be a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway; is it better to use a +18 quality l2 agent or a -12 quality l3 agent? I've been trying to do more agents for the l3 agent, but it takes an age and I've only had two skills out of it.
Any ideas? :/

L3 agent. Will bump your standings up faster, allowing you to get a higher-quality L3.
Moving to an L3 with zero personal standing and higher quality from one with high standing will hurt you in the short-term, but is a good investment for the long-term.
I've received two IMs in approx. 90 missions.
Which honestly is frequent enough to combat decay. I was still significantly ahead of where I started even after the drop, but I'll agree that IMs should be a bit more common. (I want the decay to stay the same - yes it makes you lose positive faction, but it reduces how much people hate you too.) ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

The code must be broke or something...
i should be getting important missions at a 12-13 mission frequency right? i have over 5 standing with my agent, and ive done 16 missions for him now since my last Important mission, and still no important mission!!!
i need 0.05 more Caldari State Faction too... so this is very aggrivating _______________________________________________

Funny, past 10 hours or so I had 7 important missions for Boundless Creation..
Most funny was.. 2 times I had 3 in a row, and didnt even have to leave station to complete them. (hehe) was the bring minerals type of missions. 6.21 standing with them. Current level 3 agent got 3.21 view on me. But just moved on to it. Had a level 2 with some 5+ view before that.

My Roden agent is also incredibly stingy with important missions (1 since Castor went live). I wonder if some corps give more than others? Maybe most of the important missions are of a type not given much by Roden, like combat or mining?

Edited by: Harliquin on 25/12/2003 08:34:40 I'm beginning to think that way - my important was a mining mission,
I've a horrible feeling the mission selection may be borked somewhere or there just arn't enough non mining/kill importants out there.
I'm still waiting for papa's frig to kick in and give me something useful.
oh and my agent works in manufacturing

You get important mining missions?
My important missions are either kill mercs (which are no longer important, but used to be important for me) and Slaughter the elite Gallente frigates _______________________________________________

According to Papa Smurf things have been altered so that every 10-20 mission (depending on current standing) for the SAME agent you get 1 important mission. If you do your missions for different agents the gap between important missions will get higher.
I myself have had 5 important missions divided over 4 agents (total missions about 40 i think) since this change so it seems to work ok.

Its sort of like "we got a important production and lack some minerals" or "we got problems with a clone chambers and need minerals to repair to revive a important bla bla bla" or some crap about a captured slaver need to be interogated in a torture chamber, but they lack minerals to build it etc etc...
Not so much combat orineted missions with Boundless Creation. Just these rescue damsel in distress and some retrive papers, but never been any worse than a Krull + 2 henchmen, or some 6k frigs.. and this from a level 3 agent.

I've now done about 60 missions for the same agent and the only important mission I got was after about 20 missions. Since then - nothing ... The agent is a lvl3 with 0 quality (15 effective), I have connections 3, negotiations 2, social 5. Another agent (lvl2) gave me HUGE loads of important missions, once 2 important missions in a row, in average I think 1/5 - 1/10 of all missions where important. The lvl2 has 16 quality (so effective is 30+ I think) I have a few good lvl3 agents (18+ quality / effective 30+) in the faction I preferably do missions for, they also give me lots of important missions. I guess that the agent quality is the most important factor. Skills might matter but from what I have seen, agent level definately does not (it is important for the amount of the increase though, the important missions from lvl3 give much more points than those from lvl2)

Did 37 missions today (Sad I know, its xmas day and all that, but I've got nothing better to do at the moment) for a level 3 agent in Republic Fleet, effective standing 37. Not one important mission.
I have another agent in the same corp as my research agent who does seem to give out the odd important mission, but my regular one hasnt given me one in about 3 days, possibly 4.

Checked the transactions log for my agent's corp - its actually 81 missions since I last had an important one for them. Given the odds quoted of getting an important mission and based on the quality of my agent etc, I should have had about 4-6 important missions in that time.
