Hmmm, there seems to be a pretty good division line, excluding the few exceptions of course, between PvPers and Carebears in this thread: age 30 or so. ....

20, Miner with PvP Alt.
I enjoy both, as long as the people are friendly and it stays fun. Alliance mining ops are great, PvP is as boring as solo mining most of the time.
Basically because fights are too short and there is no tactic involved. You try 3h to chase someone or pinpoint his location. When you are sure you will win you engage for 20s.
As funny as mining Veldspar, so I understand Chribba. ;) ___

27, Solo pirate - It brings in the isk and I happen to be an avid scalp collector
IÆve not always been up for randomly murdering people, I used to be alliance 'military' with the whole NRDS situation and for the first 3-4 months I was actually a miner, before a good war and a bit of death and destruction 'sorted' me out...

33 and to be honest I've done pretty much everything EVE has to offer at some point.
I just rat and PvP at the moment. I have an industrialist but don't really get stuck in. The other industrialists contacts I have shout at me for letting the T2 BPOs gather dust.
What I cna't figure is how people manage to class themselves as one or the other. I expect the majority of long term players do both at some point.
Here is a list of what I've done.
Mining all three areas 0.0, low and high. Manufacturing and research. Running a POS. PvP in all three areas 0.0, low and high. Skirmish and fleet. Alliance warfare and anti-pirate. Mission running, combat, research and transport. PVE ratting in complexes, low sec and in 0.0. Trade running in empire but mainly low sec.
/start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game three years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

34 and mostly carebear at the moment. I've started running missions in lowsec, so I imagine somebody (most likely Chaos Incarnate) will get me PvP-ing after a fashion.
If they can catch me.

Originally by: Brutor Shaun Reading through various threads lately I've seen a lot of 'Eve is a PvP game', 'Carebears are lame', foot stamping, followed by a spout if utter drivel with no grounding in fact.
The way most of these threads are written and presented got me to wondering what the average age of a PvPer is compared to carebears.
I'm not for one second saying all PvPers are juveniles, or that all carebears are mature as there's obviously a mix of both in both classes. I'm just curious what the average ages are.
I'm 40, and proud to be a carebear.
46, 2 accounts. Not a carebear, but I don't PvP in Eve because I think Eve's combat system is kind of lame. You want real PvP, go find yourself a good shooter where your REAL abilities to PvP are tested, not a game based on marginal differences in character attributes.

So what would you call a player who works low sec systems, isn't necessarily looking for PvP, but doesn't mind it when it lands in his lap?
That's about where I am.
I don't get any kind of pleasure out of looking for a fight, but when it comes time to throw down, I'll give it the best I've got.
This is my sig, there are many others just like it. With me, my sig is worthless. Without (or with even) my sig, I am worthless... |

Skillpoints! = Player Skill is all I have to say about that...

29 ex-alliance officer, ex-0.0 ratter, ex-miner, currently a refugee from the current Deklien occupation. I mission run for money, I mine to build, I rat to pass the time between ops.
I PVP mostly because i love the heart thumping, adrenaline rush of jumping through a gate and getting jumped and living to tell the tale! Where else can you undock one sunny evening in May (last night) and find yourself confronted with an Avatar(chowdown) a Nyx?(Seleene) and about 178 of their friends... i tell you it was worth losing that frig to see that.
Generally I agree that all aspects of this game are interdependant, and the free market we have would be next to useless if we didn't have player manufacturers/miners, so for that I respect the "carebears".
Kind Regards, CC Commissar Captain R4 IF YOU NEVER TEST YOUR FAITH HOW CAN YOU BE SURE IT IS THERE? STICK YOUR HAND INTO THE FIRE EVERY NOW AND THEN TO REMIND YOURSELF.

Im 24, just coming up on 25 and am the CEO of a pirate corporation.
My head of logistics is too young to vote. The most evil SOB in my corp is in his 5th decade. The majority of my pilots are in their late twenties and early thirties.
Many people in this thread appear to be confused as to what a carebear is.
A miner/trader/rnd/production/npc hunter is not inherently a carebear. A person who wishes to do all/any of these things with zero risk to themselves in any way or form is a carebear.
Almost any worthwhile career in EvE contains a healthy dose of risk from other players, even if the people in that career do not realise this fact.
EvE IS a pvp game, those who cannot accept this fact come onto the forums, whine and are labelled carebears.
Those who realise this is a PvP game, adapt and continue on with their industrial career have my utmost respect. This game needs you.It doesn't need carebears.

Age 24 - PvP, though I have alts to perform all tasks.
3 accounts: 1. PvP / Rat 2. PvP / Rat / Mission / Mine / Production 3. Trader / Hauler
Both my secondary accounts are within grasp of capital ships, and even my most carebearish has a covert ops.
I typically pvp on my main, and either do mining ops with the alts, lvl 4 mission, or pirate. |

27. Thief, murderer.
Got another account for mission running though. It's the only way to afford shiny things like snake sets and faction mods... Plus I buy GTC codes as often as I can so as to save money. Sometimes I enjoy afking a mission while I'm watching tv so it works out.
