I'm creating a new character for pvp but before I pick classes and attributes etc I want to know what kind of ship I'm gonna specialize in first so that I can fine tune the character setup to fit that ship. However I'm not a very experienced PVPer and I don't know yet what kind of ship I'd like to use. That's where you guys come in.
Please tell me which ship(s) you like most for pvp and why it is your favorite pvp ship. (excluding capital ships)
Also suggestions on character setup or ship or anything else at all are very welcome.

I feel its a waste flying a sacriledge with BS V, heavy drone V, DI V etc, especially as I cant even fly a sacriledge. Thats why I chose the domi.

If you stick to one ship you'll quickly get bored. I suggest that you build up some isk on your main, then buy a 5-6mil SP char off the forums and let the best deal decide for you. Sticking rigidly to one ship is lame, and the answer i'll give you, e.g: Recons, HACs, dictors, CBCs, will all take you months to skill for to use properly. Just grab a char off the sell forums.

Here's another question for everyone:
If you had all relevant skills maxed out and ISK isn't a factor, which ship would you fly for pvp? (no capital ships)

If availability is an issue, I guess Bhaalgorn would be a top choise, and then another handful of faction BS's.
When thats done, I'd probably go for an Astarte aswell, or possibly stay in a Megathron/hyperion.

hmm, for me im going for vagabonds right now, they are so good. also wolf and jaguar is cool imo. those 2 are like intys with awesome resists :-)

I'd say, Machariel? They're rather cheap for a faction BS too.
As for regular ships...
Frigate - Rifter
Assault Frig - Wolf - today I beat a low SP Hurricane
Interceptor - Haven't flown any, but the Crow looks nice
Cov Ops - Not PvP ships, but the Manticore is the best
Destroyer - Thrasher owns
Interdictor - Haven't flown, T2 thrasher = nice
Cruiser - Thorax/Rupture, both nice, maybe Arbi/Vexor
Heavy Assault Ship - Vagabond, Ishtar is also mean
Recon - Huginn
Battlecruiser - <3 Hurricane, but would not want to run into a Myrmidon
Command Ship - Astarte just flat out owns, but <3, <3 Sleipnir
Battleship - Tempest/Typhoon/Dominix/Megathron/Hyperion, can't go wrong

does anyone fly amarr in pvp? despite the damage type limitations, they make mean tanks and can field some pretty impressive setups with their massive PG's...the harbinger comes to my mind

since isk is a big factor to me ...
brutix. hands down.
i hav little over 12mils SP (if u bothered enuf to checked my char age, dont even think about asking). and isk is somewhat a factor to whatever i do. im not broke, but not that rich either... so i stick to my trusty brutix.
if isk is _not_ a factor.
faction-fitted, rigged astarte. im not even gonna go into the dream setup i hav in mind.
im a die hard blaster fan.

Astarte does a lot of damage, has good resists, and can fit the 'key' PvP modules (e.g. web, scram, MWD).
Oh and has a useful sized dronebay too.
Did I mention the 'does a lot of damage'?
For me, my current favourite PvP ship... might have to be the Scorpion actually. Although given I can fly a lot of Caldari stuff, my list of choices is somewhat reduced. If you're starting from scratch, fly Gallente, maybe Minmatar, as they do have some really excellent PvP ships.

Raven isnt a solo ship. get a ceptor with ya.
Id go for 6x cruise + NOS
heavy shield tank, cap booster, xlarge booster + hardeners and maybe a shield boost amp..
and in lows, go for 2x BCU, 1 DC t2 + whatever
you can try with torps also, but i heard its not so good since the nerf.
the raven can dish a hell of damage while tanking well but cant tackle anything.
If you have good blaters skills, the rohk is very dangerous also but you have to know how to fly it, use its range bonus. thats how you pwn any gallente blaster ship with it :P

eos ftw!!!
Jumping into a gate camp and laugh at them as u go 10-30ms back to the gate while tanking them all. Gives you a warm feeling inside. =P

Arazu. This thing is simply sexy. I ran all around 0.0 for the last two days and never got caught. This ship does have the drawback of having low damage potential and not much of a tank, but that's where your gang mates come in. The arazu's sensor damps and cloak make it quite hard to get a lock on, so your gang mates do all of the fighting. You tackle and damp your target at your preferred range, and call in a blaster boat to melt your target. Once it's dead, you cloak and find something else to kill. This is not a solo ship, but it makes a great two man gang with anything that does halfway decent damage. Did I mention that it is extremely hard to catch and that it almost completely denies any non-capital ship the ability to target anything?

Depends what you want to do.
If you want to do guerilla style warfare - vagabond/huginn/curse/sabre.
If you want to do close range combat fights, take a look at the dominix and myrmidon.
If you want to do fleet battles, megathron is probably your cup of tea.

When I'm kinda poor - Megatron with just a T2 tank.
