Tiamara	Posted - 2007.04.03 23:43:00 - [1] I'm creating a new character for pvp but before I pick classes and attributes etc I want to know what kind of ship I'm gonna specialize in first so that I can fine tune the character setup to fit that ship. However I'm not a very experienced PVPer and I don't know yet what kind of ship I'd like to use. That's where you guys come in. Please tell me which ship(s) you like most for pvp and why it is your favorite pvp ship. (excluding capital ships) Also suggestions on character setup or ship or anything else at all are very welcome.

I suggest that you build up some isk on your main, then buy a 5-6mil SP char off the forums and let the best deal decide for you. Sticking rigidly to one ship is lame, and the answer i'll give you, e.g: Recons, HACs, dictors, CBCs, will all take you months to skill for to use properly. NoNah	Posted - 2007.04.04 00:08:00 - [6] Eidolon If availability is an issue, I guess Bhaalgorn would be a top choise, and then another handful of faction BS's. When thats done, I'd probably go for an Astarte aswell, or possibly stay in a Megathron/hyperion.

James Lyrus Lyrus Associates	Posted - 2007.04.04 08:27:00 - [21] Astarte does a lot of damage, has good resists, and can fit the 'key' PvP modules (e.g. web, scram, MWD). Oh and has a useful sized dronebay too. Did I mention the 'does a lot of damage'? For me, my current favourite PvP ship... might have to be the Scorpion actually. Although given I can fly a lot of Caldari stuff, my list of choices is somewhat reduced. If you're starting from scratch, fly Gallente, maybe Minmatar, as they do have some really excellent PvP ships.

Id go for 6x cruise + NOS heavy shield tank, cap booster, xlarge booster + hardeners and maybe a shield boost amp.. and in lows, go for 2x BCU, 1 DC t2 + whatever you can try with torps also, but i heard its not so good since the nerf. the raven can dish a hell of damage while tanking well but cant tackle anything. If you have good blaters skills, the rohk is very dangerous also but you have to know how to fly it, use its range bonus. thats how you pwn any gallente blaster ship with it :P òò

Franconis Gallente	Posted - 2007.04.04 12:11:00 - [26] Arazu. This thing is simply sexy. I ran all around 0.0 for the last two days and never got caught. This ship does have the drawback of having low damage potential and not much of a tank, but that's where your gang mates come in. The arazu's sensor damps and cloak make it quite hard to get a lock on, so your gang mates do all of the fighting. You tackle and damp your target at your preferred range, and call in a blaster boat to melt your target. Once it's dead, you cloak and find something else to kill. This is not a solo ship, but it makes a great two man gang with anything that does halfway decent damage. Did I mention that it is extremely hard to catch and that it almost completely denies any non-capital ship the ability to target anything? /ends rant As you can tell, I've fallen in love with my arazu. _________ Gallente FTW

Now for solo or small group pvp, it does require some thoughts. One of the most important aspect is your chance to survive the usual gate gank (1 vs +10). Your pvp ship needs to be mwd fitted able to kill or disable a ceptor tackler and agile enough to warp out of trouble. That leaves little room imo: Vagabond, interceptors or nanoCurse. Recon is the other choice, cloak and pray they don't find you before escaping the bubble

DE Eos... because with maxed skills (drone durability 5) and good piloting skills i can scoop my ogre II before it dies to the sentrys :)

An Eos and a tackler came to our home a few weeks back. I was sitting on the station with my Nossadon, playing " I'm an AFK noobin" while the Eos was getting close (had started at 80kms). Once he was within webbing range, I webbed, scrammed and nossed him with 7 heavy nosses while my buddies jumped in from next door. Even with me nossing the hell out of him, and my whole gang pounding him, it took forever to kill him (I actually died before he did, as he also had buddies next door). As for me, I'm a Harbinger nut. The Binger I found is the best BC for fleet operations; Since its got pretty good range (22km with Scorch M), it will own pretty much everything that jumps in (if you're sitting on the gate), while the other short range BCs have to run around a lot more due to their shorter range. The Myrm would also be pretty good if it wasn't for the nightmare of managing drones in lag. Drake is pretty good too, but again, lag is not friendly to it, as turning your booster on in lag and turning it off again doesn't happen automatically. You may end up out of cap simple because you couldn't stop your boosting. While this is also a problem with armor reps, the slower cycle time and lower cap consumption makes it that much easier to manage. I can't wait to have my ass in an Absolution. I solo in an Absolution now (hehe solo...3 mid slots...). Thorax is alright, but it is a blaster boat which doesn't interest me much at the moment. I am going for stealth bomber which can be a fun time, I hope. Pvp with what you like, everthing can be used no matter how useless other people say it is. Learn its niche and adapt a play style for it.

They also have the benefit of being reasonably cheap so you don't need to spend as much time worrying about making isk for replacements and don't take too long to train for. Once you get a feel for them and if you find you really like them you can start looking at investing more serious isk to boost performance (implants, high end faction modules etc). Just noticed this is a bit of a necro, although not exactly a bad one.

And Eos is about to be hit with the nerfbat. Any of the Field Command ships are great. Astarte, Absolution, Nighthawk and Sleipnir. Also some hacs are great. ishtar, deimos, vaga, zealot are all very good. Vaga in particular are super popular. Now amarr lost the Curse but have gained the Sacrilege. And this thing is a beast. Good damage, great resistances, very flexible. If you were an amarr pilot I'd hop in one of these now and enjoy it before it's nerfed. I think you'll see some Caldari pilot cross train to fly this monster. Coming soon will be the heavy interdictors. Specialize in a race and fly a variety of ships so when you join a gang you see what is needed most. Who cares if you can fly a Dictor if the gang already has 2 of them. Now if you plan to just solo then get a Vaga as that ship rules in the running away department. Since you seem to be big in wanting PVP I would go with either Gallente or Minmatar.
