Originally by: R'olyat I was thinking that the speed indicator on your HUD at the bottom could maybe like, turn red when you are scrammed or webbed and say in parentheses next to you speed.
e.g. 30,000 m/s (Webbed)
WOW, what kind of ship goes 30 km/s while webbed??
anyway, i agree with the OP and like the idea of the speed indicator changing when webbed or scrammed.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
In general the UI is pathetic and could use tons of improvments. Eve is a harsh world but being more difficult due to crappy interface is not one of the things i enjoy.
Endure. In enduring, grow strong.
Older thread. At least I didn't dig it up.
While the speedometer changing colors would be nice, I'd still prefer a text indicator like the ones used when you're jammed. ************************************
Some better indication of scramming would be nice alot of good suggestions on how it should be done in this thread.
Course you could look up that kill missions walkthru page every time you run a mission so you know if mob x in mission xxx is going to scram, but really you should have a better indication of scramming period makes little sense that something so vital in especially level 4s to know is so muddled you dont know unless you look it up or try and warp out of trouble after your scrammed.
So let us get it straight, we are far far in the future. We have a "need for speed" but i can only see if i am scrambled if I am looking at my ships ass (blue rings,lag), have the sound on (lag)or can read all those combat messages (lag). So give us a little indicator for scram and make please make it optional for the whiners who don't want to know anything.
You know what indicates you're being warp scrambled? YOU'RE UNABLE TO WARP. "Oh noes, I lost a ship because I was warp scrambled. I should cry about it."
How easy do you kids want this game to be? Personally I'd prefer it to be a little more difficult. Showing when you're scrambled is just another way of making the game simple for the idiots who can't handle a challenge.
Grow some
Excellent point, I think we should ALL grow up more and ask for our screens to periodically turn blank, forcing you to guess at what areas of the screen to click on. This will make the game much more challenging. This is what true adults should all be looking for.
Any other ideas to implement that further obscure the information of our surroundings in the game need to be voiced. Come on, let's all prove how big our balls are.
Edited by: Cpt Fina on 18/08/2007 00:08:00 The only real drawback i can see is for all the new players that tries to solo-pvp and has to micromanage their scram/disruptor due to cap-issues.
In battle every so often, I actually look at my ship, swivel around it, see if there's anything doing naughty things and violating me... sensor dampners, nos, webbers, scramblers...
There is a nice visual that lets you know...
you have effects ON in combat?? must not have been in any fleet battles...
this game seriously needs more HUD indications of effects on your ships.. Scram, Web, Jam, NOS, Paint.. any constant effect should be indicated on your HUD while it is happening..
Edited by: Kao Lei on 18/08/2007 09:16:52 I don't get it... why do you need an extra indicator?
When I end up in a PVP battle, I KNOW I'm being scrambled, I don't need an indicator for this. It's common sense.
Whenever people attack you, they want you to stay there hence, they scramble you. If you want to know who's doing it, go through the list of people with red brackets, look at the effects and you'll find him. Don't be surprised in a small gang when almost everyone of them has a point on you.
If we get an indicator for scrambling, I want an indicator for a) who's disrupting my tracking b) who's dampening me c) who's jamming me d) who's nossing me (can't see this when you are nossing multiple targets and one of em nos's you back) e) who's hitting me the hardest f) who's using fof's to kill my missiles the list goes on...
Knowing and feeling these kinds of things are part of the non-ingame type of skills that you train when doing pvp. It's what sets you apart from newer pvp'ers when you figure this out yourself by taking a look at the battlefield and seeing which ships are present and the effects that are shown.
my favourite implementation would be on the overview ... a special symbol or flashing border (i.e. not red, maybe blue) at the ships that are scrambling me.
You obviously don't PvP much (or PvP successfully) if you sit around looking at the animations while the fight is happening...
The reason people would like this implemented is because they want a simple icon just to let them know who has the point on them. Perhaps if you try some more combat before pretending you're an expert, you'll agree :)
/signed x1000, although I think CCP will implement 'being able to move your character into a bar in a station and order a refreshing Quafe' before they implement something useful (and judging by the response in the thread) something the player base would actually like :/
