I'm sorry, I know that a previous thread was locked, but I dunno, I'm kind of at a loss.

I knew that guy. We called him "Stack" - he was a baritone player in the Marching Virginians. Always had a rather disarming smile for everyone - really funny guy.
Still in shock. I'm not sure what to do. I'm a VT Engineering College employee, and I was a student (graduated 04). I know lots of people that worked in that building, and so far, Stack was the only one that got hurt.
Anyway, I just needed to ... vent, I guess. Stages of grief and all, I'm kind of drifting around my apartment. There's nothing going on in town now, everyone's glued to the TV or at a bar. We killed a bottle of fine Bourbon, and poured out a shot for Stack. I don't think I'lll get a lot of sleep tonite.
Surreal, man.

I think it is safe to assume that if your grandad or uncle or anyone you knew was slaughtered needlessly and tragically today, and you felt the need to reach out, no one would tell you that they did not give a crap. Maybe you should act like a fellow human, not a worthless piece of crap, and give them the same courtesy..... |

Sorry to hear what has happened and I hope that everyone involved in the incident recovers quickly.
To the guy that is "annoyed" by this thread. It is not a forum offence to be posting this thread. The others were locked for politics. Not for mention of the incident itself.
A lot of people are going to be affected by this incident and I think just a little more tact would have been worthwhile.

too be honest if those who were shot at fought back all at once then i bet they would have escaped. a 9mm doesn't do well against a ZERG.

Xiaodown, I'm a Hokie as well. I feel the pain bro. They will always be in my prayers.
I spent the entire last day checking up on friends drinking a lot of beer and venting... venting on fellow mods (thanks!)
To all the other people I ask that you pray for those who lost their lives at Virginia Tech, keep them in your prayers. To those others who don't have anything good to say don't say it.

It's possible yeah, that if all of them had worked together, then maybe only one or two had died. But what would you do? Have you ever had a gun held to your head and told that you would die? I doubt it.
I haven't either, but I can't believe that the only thing running through your mind is how to stand up and disarm the bastard. I bet I would just sit tight and hope it would turn out alright, just like 95+% of all other humans.

as for the 911 insident, there was over 200-300 passangers on a big plane, and they didnt even try to fight back... (and they prolly knew that they was gonna die)
what makes u think a "few" ppl would try to fight a maniac with a 9mm?

This is all so crazy. Im a UW student and just last week a faculty member was shot to death here on campus, the gunmen then killed himself.
How much longer are we going to stand by with our redneck belief that we have the right to bare arms ? All of UK had 44 murders involving handguns last year, NYC had 539.
I think its time to realise that handguns for self defense is a excuse.I dont have the numbers, but im sure the ratio of Murder-self defense shootings is 2kX in favour of murders. We cant allow people who are suffering from a mid life crisis to take 30+ people down with them.
My prayers go out to the familys that lost their children/brothers/sisters.

I'm also a Hokie (2005) and like everyone am simply at a loss for words. One of the professors killed was someone I saw almost daily in and around Norris and Randolph Halls, and while I never had him as a teacher it's still so awful. Thankfully none of my friends still at Tech were harmed, though there were some close calls.
The media reaction in response to how the administration and VT police dept handled this has been nothing but sickening.
My heart goes out to everyone down in Blacksburg right now. Truly a sad day for Hokies everywhere.

a friend of mine was shot and killed in the incident. she was only a freshmen. life's too short.

Its a real tragedy. I honestly can't imagine how it must feel to have been involved in all that. Its the stuff nightmares are made of.
