I've always been under the impression that the bigger the rat you kill, the faster your sec status goes up. So, I've been out in this lonely system for I don't know how long, blowing up Serpentis left and right and it just doesn't seem like it's working all that well.
So, just out of curiosity, I check the Security Status tab in my Character Sheet, and lo and behold, I'm not getting credit for a vast majority of my NPC kills!
Is it supposed to be like this? You get smacked for every pod you blow up, but they forget to credit you every time when you kill NPC's?

You only get 1 positive sec movement per system every 15 minutes or so. I hear if you kill a rat in one system, then jump to the next, kill another ect. it goes up a whole bunch faster.

I agree. Personally, I think that either the sec status loss should be reduced, or gain should be increased.
It should be possible to rat your way up to -1.9 from -10 in less than 6 months without going to 0,0.

They should put complexes back to how they were regarding sec status. A few 6/10 solo runs and your back to being a good citizen.

To be honest... You kill one BS rat and it gives you often 0.16% - 0.21% in the most common regions of 0.0, Atleast where i am based in Syndicate.
For one podill you get -12.5% Which to be honest i think is a bit much. It should be balanced, you should go up in security status by ratting at the relative same speed you do for killing otherwise its heavily weighted on negative security status.
What i do is i kill one battleship rat, and jump to the next system and repeat, raises sec a LOT faster.
BUT i have noticed that usually after downtime security status does not update despite it being more than 45min before your last bs kill and even then you dont get it.
For about a week now i have had to petition every time after downtime to get them to try and sort it out - it's a bug that needs fixing.
Half the time they try to blow you off with the whole security status capping page but that doesnt apply to negative sec so you have to force them to listen to you, even if it means being rude.
Get them to check your security status gains against your bounties and the times in bewteen you killing them.
Demand they credit you with the security status that you have not recieved when you should.

1. You fail for not forum searching.
2. You fail at griping about a somewhat balanced system that prevents total anarchy.
Yay.
Constructive? Um.. just bounce back and forth between systems nailing a BS.

It isn't hard, you just gotta know how to do it The quickest I've got my security status up before from -10 to -1.9 was 3 days. :) And no... I don't mean 3 x 24 hours.

Took me one month and some social skill training to get from -5.0 to 0.9.
And it could have been 2 weeks if i remembered to move my ass to some 0.0 system and shoot rats there non-stop until i had the Sec Status i wanted. _______________________

If your not getting anything, then something is wrong and would seriously petition it. Ask for a senior GM to fix it, he'll know whats wrong.

you only get a sec boost for 1 npc that you kill every 10 seconds per system. meaning if you kill an npc then another one 9 minutes later, the second one will gain you nothing in terms of sec. what you have to do is either....
kill 1 rat, take another to structure, wait for the 10 minutes to pass until u see ur sec boost on the character screen and then finish off the 2nd rat, continue like this forever.
or you can kill 1 rat in a system, go to the next system and kill another, then come back to the first system and if it's been more than 10 minutes from when you killed the first one in that system then pop another, then skip back to the second system again etc etc.

took me 22 hours which i did on a weekend of solid gaming going from -10 to -1.8 in the far reaches of syndicate.
I did that by killing one bs, traveling to another system, killing another then onto another in a loop of systems.

There are no bugs in getting your security up, it's just a pain and takes a long time if you don't know the tricks. I know one for same system gaining but I aint spilling.
But yes, you do only get one security gain every 10 minutes, the secuirty gain you get is that of the biggest rat you killed. Whether you kill one battleship in 10 minutes or 100, you will still only get one security gain. The only thing that will differ is how much your wallet gets buffed. I went from -10 to -1.9 and made just over 100m.

there is no way of getting more than 1 sec boost every 10 minutes in the same system. if you mean logging off and on that doesn't work anymore.

There is a bug. CCP won't publicly state anything about it. People have been talking about it for quite some time on the other boards. It's only in certain systems (mostly goonspace.../tinfoil off).
Fast Talk does help boost your sec boosts, but not if you're not getting any boosts at all.
If you're not getting any security boosts at all, petition it or move to different systems and test.

Still I find the scenario of "punishing" the criminal by making him rat for isk rewards and loot rather ridiculous. That's even better than Club Fed. I mean...What the hell killin NPC rats got anything to do with player on player crime? Seems like the only person who's gettin the shaft here is the victim of the pirate.

Then do not do podkills in low sec - it's not really that hard. Podkills give 5 times the sec status loss compared to normal shipkills (-2% for a shipkill & -0.5% for the initial agression).
