The Establishment has had a few Dreads in its fleet for a month or two now, and we've never had reason to use them. The other day, I found a Thanatos just outside of its POS shield, by 3-5km. Informing Rawthorm, we jumped Hera in and warped on top of it to kill it. As we did this, a Dreadnought Cyno'd in and got bounced off its shield. It was also promptly destroyed. After this, on a bit of a high, we thought we'd start having a go at the POS's in the system just so we could test out our Dreads.
Over the past couple of days we destroyed a POS and knocked a couple more into reinforced. One of these POS's - unbeknownst to us - seemed to be an ally of CVA. So today when we came to knock it down completely, we discovered a 25-30man CVA fleet a couple of jumps from us. I was immediately concerned about this, worried that if we went ahead with the POS attack, they'd jump a bunch of Capitals on top of us. Rawthorm however was adamant we try it anyway, given if we waited, they'd only come back later, probably in greater numbers. So we decided to go ahead.
Just before we jumped our Capitals in, the CVA fleet seemed to turn around and head back towards its own territory. Perhaps they were just passing by after all we thought. So, we put up the Cyno, they immediately turned around and made a beeline for us. We saw them coming, but decided to continue the assault. Their fleet eventually jumped in and got themselves into position, all the while the POS we were shooting was entering heavy armour damage.
And then they warped in. For reference, The Establishment fleet consisted of Hera (Nyx), 2 Moros, 1 Revelation, 1 Archon and 1 Chimera. We didn't have much in the way of a support fleet except our recons, but this is nothing new. Hera and the Carriers proceeded to engage the CVA fleet with their Fighters. We were doing ok until...
A Cyno went up next to us.
8 CVA Carriers jumped in next to our own Capital Fleet. This was not going to go well.
CVA chose xHoodx's Moros as their primary target. He held out for a few minutes, but the sheer number of Fighters and Nos on him broke him fairly quickly. Our own Fighters were trying to pick off their support, but CVA were quite prepared for this it seems and they were remote repping their support ships with their Carrier fleet. Because of this, we were unable to inflict any serious damage to their support ships.
As xHoodx's Moros exploded, my Moros was next. I was drained of cap pretty quickly and my armour was crumbling quickly under the onslaught. We were doing everything we could to fight back, but there was relatively little we could do despite our best efforts. At some point during the battle, a Cyno was put up in Assah, and Aram Gishno's Chimera jumped to safety.
As my own Moros exploded, CVA turned their attention to our final Dread, Seek's Revelation. It died just as quickly as our other 2 Dreadnoughts and when that was down, our Archon was also destroyed, unable to jump out to safety. Hera withdrew from the field after our last Capital was dead, unable to do anything else.
What has The Establishment learnt from this you might ask? Well first off, we got our arses kicked quite thoroughly, some might say deservedly so given that this sort of thing very rarely happens to us. We take losses here and there, but never on this scale before. But happened it has and its a learning experience. Second, never listen to an FC sitting in his EW immune SuperCapital saying we can take them even if they jump a bunch of Capitals on us. I can only say I told you so Raw
Full credit for CVA for being well prepared against us, and it was a good fight at the end of the day. I now have 600mil to spend on faction gear for my Vindicator because of you
Regards
Angel

Indeed, Well played to CVA. Your played the illusion of a passing fleet very well. We had assumed once you'd reached G-Aoth that you was off to have a stab at UK and didnt expect the rather swift U-turn

Glad to see people willing to post battle reports regardless of what the outcome is for their side. Well written, and another testament to the organization of CVA. I really wasn't aware of their military prowess until I read the Seige report and this.
Looking forward to reading more antics.

Can't shake the image of some guy stirring up a hornets nest then running around the field screaming BEEEES!!! (Fighters and drones around my Moros) ^^
Once the carriers got the remote reps up and running there wasn't really much left for us to do in this fight. All in all, well played CVA, we screwed up and you called us on it :)

Just reinforced the fact that supercaps are overpowered. Your fleet was routed, but your mothership was never in any danager.
Good post though.

Hera was never in any danger because 1) CVA were disiplined and prioritized the other capitals first 2) I manuverered her to keep her in supporting range but make sure I could escape once all our guys had died or escaped themselves.

I'm sure we could claim misdirection, but a fleet taking a wrong turn usually doesnt result in such favourable circumstances.
But since I attended the Hardin school of accurate battle reporting I feel compelled to point out that Seek was in the archon and Nox was the Reve pilot, and that only 10 CVA fighters were fielded for the whole engagement, not that I was paying particular attention to those things but I'm sure the killslips will provide more details.
That said, Props for sticking it out and fighting tooth and nail when it looked bad. I can count without removing my socks the number of foe in eve i've fought that will have at it like that when it hits the fan like that.
I also want to know how Seek got that archon to tank us for as long as a sieged Moros

The killmails does indeed show only one Carrier using Fighters; albeit I'm pretty sure that with the amount of NOS that was in use; you didn't really need the "more" firepower than 8 Carriers with drones can provide :)

He might have utilized the same trick as your Carriers used to keep parts of your support alive :)

CVA had the oportunity to collect experiance in such combat situation in our conflict over the qr system, they used it well and tweaked tactics and setups, coupled with the nearly magic ability of CVA to have literaly dozends of fully trained capital pilots ready in ships and cynos fueld and in strike distance at ANY given time. result see in OP. our outcome was not mutch different from urs, we were a bit better prepared and cva had less expriance in capital vs capital fight but that was easy outweighted by half of our dreads plain and simple crashed and where killed unpiloted and the remaining ones had not the firepower left to challange the than running remotrepairing. the cva capital fleet, its tactics and experiance are now on par with the well known, exellent mid fleetsice abilitys.

Nice writeup, it's good to read about what's actually happening, rather than what one side can muster up to brag about. Makes a nice change
