I just got back and there doesnt seem to be any privateer activity. I used to like their wars all over. It brought back skirmish warfare to the universe instead of capital ship zergs. It wasnt like going to 0.0 where you get zerged, with them I could usually find a fair fight, even in t1 ships. So what happened, why doesn't there seem to be any privateer activity? I can't find any in Jita and systems around it. I wanted to do some skirmish with a new stealth bomber build since they usually had some inties out around there. Did something change?

This is why:
PLEASE NOTE: Concord war fees have changed to the following, please see this Dev Blog and forum thread for further information and discussion-
* Fees for starting and maintaining wars are directly proportional to either the number of wars your corporation or alliance is engaged in, or the number of wars the victim is engaged in. Previously only the number of wars the victim was engaged in was taken into consideration. * If the victim is involved in wars they did not initiate, those wars are counted towards the number influencing the cost of this war. If the instigator is also involved in wars they initiaged, those wars are also counted.
The higher of the two is used to determine the multiplier to the base cost, for example: if your corporation is involved in two wars your corporation initiated, a third war declaration will cost 3 times as much.
The same criteria applies to continuing wars: War are billed weekly based on the number of active wars at the time of billing. An example:
* Alliance A starts a war with alliance B: 50M. * It then starts a war with with alliance C: 100M. * Then next week it is billed for 200M, 100M for wars with both B and C (two outstanding wars). * If C receives war declarations from two other alliances before the week is over, the bill will be 150M. ---------------------- Boom goes the ship! Squish goes the pilot!

Privateers made safe space into unsafe space and that wasnt appreciated by most. CCP changed the war dec fees and now empire is like disney again, and people can go back to their mindless grinds...
Privateers showed how 0.0 would be if it didnt have gate camps, bubbles etc. They logged in for a few hours of casual ganking of everyone they saw fit (in empire). It wasnt honorable and they become hated by a lot of people because they picked on the weak.

Highsec still is not all that safe, there just will not be massive gatecamps catching dozens of easy targets :) you will see more small corp PVP action in empire though as the bloodthirsty dec carebear corps to get their fix.

Meh. I liked it. No cap ships or gatecamps (ok maybe some but no chokepoints). It was some really fun PVP. Empire turned from a boring grind to an exciting lively place fast. I finally had a use for my combat ships. I cant do 0.0 because the cap ship game is way over my head (im not in bob), gate camping is boring, and fleet war is so laggy and lacking any kind of viable tactics/skills, so this is was the only PVP I could really do and it was so fun! I wish I could still fight the privateers now but all their war decs are gone

Empire is supposed to be "mostly safe". Privateers turned it into "mostly unsafe".
CCP fixed it.

I have never been in PA, never will be in PA. My corp has never been in PA. Just wanted to get that out of the way first before some pansy with no better retort came along with "You're a PA alt". PA Showed what could be done with a little imagination and some money. They also broke many a glass house of those who are too afraid to go out of empire. And dont try to argue it isnt fear. It definately aint money since its better in lowsec/nosec. The folks who stick 100% to empire had this nice little glass house gaurding their glass idea of being totally safe. Its kinda like in life when people go throughout it with the thought that nothing will happen to them because the police will save them. Yeh well i carry twin 1911's in real life because thats the smelliest load of bs ever.
PA shattered their glass houses and their glass ideal's and they whined for it to be fixed. Never asking themselves how to fix it for themselves. When my corp was in an alliance called Ethereal Dawn (Hope i spelt that right, i never do for some reason), the alliance was wardeced by PA. Did we whine/cry/complain? Nope, the resounding phrase on vent was "Sweet, empire targets". Mind you, ED, the allinace, is a 0.0 alliance. We camped many a gate and many a station where we had found a PA member then promptly shot em down. The alliance didnt get alot of kills as only a few people took the nasty trip from 7-K region to Jita area, but we didnt cower.
And that gets me going to my next point. Why is it that everyone is so upset when their normalities are shattered? Why do they go look to daddy (CCP) to do something about it? Too weak yourself? Whose problem is that...not CCP's.
Point is. All this anti PA stuff is annoying because in the grand scheme of things, they performed a much needed service. They got people's heads out of the sand for once, a feat that I dont think will be seen for a while to come again.
-.- Signature got removed. It seems my views are not politically correct enough, oh noes what a travesty...

No, they didn't break the Empire players' little glass houses. What the PA did was basically get a license to go into every 7-11, every grocery store and every library and gun down the people that worked there. Had they stayed with deccing only "the big 0.0 Alliances" like they claim this alteration would never have happened. But having shoot rights on 70k players with 149 wardecs going on is hardly part of the description that CCP has for a wardec. They found a loophole, they got greedy and they got squashed.
Empire dwellers are the ones in Eve that appreciate civilization. They like their little rules and laws. They PREFER to play in "safer" areas or they would be in lowsec or 0.0 shooting back.
CCP obviously felt that there should be "safer" areas also, as depicted in the player's guides and tutorials. Hence they fixed an oversight in the wardec system. The PA can still wardec Southland Corporation and go shoot the 7-11 clerks, but they have to pay more for the privilege if they also want to gank Safeway and the NYC Municipal Library at the same time.
Just because you like to pew pew at everything doesn't mean your average citizen of EvE does. *shrugs* After seeing Privateers camping every gate in HighSec that I have taken any of my characters through in the last 4 months I am glad to see them go and was hardly surprised when the nerf was announced. <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

Well, there seems to be alot of whining on both sides of the issue, eh? So, if we can get beyond the 5-year old players and get down to the nuts and bolts, let's do so.
EVE is, like many other multi-player games, two games in one that exist side-by-side. There is the PVP game, and the PVE game. Some players prefer one, while others perfer the other. The games that provide both allow a player to choose which way they will go, and EVE goes even further by allowing both to overlap (PVPs can attack players in Empire by wardecing them, while PVE are somewhat protected in lowsec space by Global Criminal rules), but the seperation of the two is necessary to keep both types of players playing the game.
What the Privateers did was to expose that the seperation between these two sides of the game was faulted, and they were willing to utilize several game mechanics to take advantage of this. CCP looked over the situation and the course warfare was taking across EVE (battles where hundreds of ships involved became the norm and not the exception), and decided this was not how they wanted their game played (and, yes, it is -CCP's- game, not the players).
If they want an area of the game where new players or those wishing not to PVP can play, then they certainly have the right to change the game for that, and the only alternative to a 'soft' solution (one that is player-driven) is the 'hard' solution of jettisoning one or the other player base from the game by either doing away with Empire space, or removing PVP from the game entirely. Both are also their rights, though either would radically change the game, if not kill it altogether.
What it boils down to is that the game changed, and, as the previous poster was so adamantly in favor of, players simply have to change with it. Note that if this solution does not have the desired effect, CCP will likely change it again, possibly even further along this road. As the issue involves hard performace issues with hardware as well as player preferences, the entire situation may change no matter what anyone wants, and we'll have to change again.

Do they? Or are they more interested in power and destroying someone else's empire?
Think about your question and tell me exactly how much of the actions of the 0.0 alliances like BoB, LV or Ragoon are actually to "improve", tame and civilize 0.0 for the benefit of all. First thing to do is look at their NBSI policy..... <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

Kate,
You can still find Privateers in empire space and you can still request a war with them. They just can't declare war on most (if not all alliances) in empire. Additionally, I can give you low sec locations where I can guarantee you PVP if you like :) I know because every time I set foot on these systems there are PVP'ers looking for me :)
Also, don't be afraid to post with your main. For someone that has been zerged in 0.0 and can fly stealth bombers it surprises me a bit that you're unable to find low-number PVP in low sec.

There is plenty of PvP available in 0.0, so if privateers only look for PvP they can go there. The problem for privateer is that they dont like targets that shoot back, which means 0.0 is out of the question.

It's sad CCP can't do a better job and see this stuff coming, or fix it more quickly instead of allowing asshats to ruin the game for months at a time... But the DEV's are quite dense like that... They have to let griefing continue on for months or even years before they finally come up with a solution... Probably so they can join in the fun for a while...

The fact that it was changed doesn't mean it was griefing.
Nor does it even mean it was broken.
It simply means it was not what they wanted in Eve. -

It wasnt honorable and they become hated by a lot of people because they picked on the people who had their pvp flag off.
Anyway, I kind of liked it, but I know its not a popular opinion around here.
What utter *******s. All PA have done since the wardec nerf is camp the Vale exit/entrance to empire. All they did before it was empire gank, we never saw them in 0.0 until recently.

Simply declare war on Privateers yourself if you really wish you could still fight....but wait a minute! You've been in Caldari Provisions for 8 months and 17 days!

We were sprayed by a change in a couple of lines of code by someone at CCP watching his wallet and throwing his ethics out the window
No alliance managed to spray us - some came quite close to having an effect. The anti privateer intel channels multiplied and becamn inefective. The anti privateer alliance never sprung up. The loot thieves though horribly annoying, were welcome in that they were an ingame manifestation of resistance. Enemy Alliance blobs were evaded and occasionaly smashed. Once the Privateers started taking individual contracts instead of their sworn enemies and started doing their 149 WarDec "sprees" and claiming to be preparing to do more it was obvious that your actions didn't match what CCP intended for the WarDec system to mean.

I would like to see a fight club flag:
Level 0 - Just like empire space now. Level 1 - Anyone marked lv 1 or above can attack you, the combat ends when you hit 50% structure. Your ship will not explode, and all harmful effects come off you. A message is broadcast to all in system that XXX has defeated YYY in a fight club match. Level 2 - Your ship can be destroyed but you can't be poded. Level 3 - Full PvP combat, you can be podded. Level 4 - Full PvP combat, no insurance payout on ship loss.
By default everyone is set to lv 0, and you can only attack someone that is set to lv 1 or higher, They type of combat that is allowed is the lowest of the the peoples fight club level. You are prevented from changing your fight club level outside of a station.

Edam? Gouder? Forgive me a slight cheesy tone - I keep trying to stick in some melodramatic soliloquay (spelling?) before vamooshing away from the boards. I tire a little of repeating the same things over and over and as i said in my tearjerker
"We can say what we like... By now it falls on either supportive or unfrienldy ears. I think people have made up their minds by now."
So no need to regurgiate.
There was no TS or Evemail logs as far as I am aware. I believe our founder was told ' you cant do nothing about it' by some evil alliance blowhards - and so he went away, thought about it, decided ther was soemthing he could do - and did it.
Whilst there was always the knowledge that CCP had shown in the past they listen to the relative few on the forums depending on how many time the can type the same thing per hour - I can honeslty say, the 6 months it took them to do anything about it gave hope they were willing to back up their grandious claims of 'freedom' in the game.

Note I said LV 0 is just like empire space now.
If you set your fight club setting higher, it makes empire space less safe. It gives people that like the current safer empires space that security, and those that want to go all out in 100% PvP that option. It also allows for betting the farm, so to speak, you can chose to fight to the obvious winner, or go all out and risk it all, no insurance payout. If you win, you win, if you lose you are out the ship, and the isk.
I think it would add more PvP to empire space. - Sarf Director of Freighter construction. Miner of small balls of dirt. |

Fighting with PRVT changed the way I play the game. It made me realize that losing a ship in a good fight was just as much fun as getting the kill.
On the negative side it does make the advantage of vets who have ISK to blow millions on an hour of fun and those who are still trying to get into their first battleship bigger then it already is. I can understand why it was changed.

Ok, well its over. Although i liked it towards the end when there were even solo skirmishers instead of the usual station gank tactics, I am glad its over.
So looking back at it i must say that the impact was rather large. So maybe what we need is a more gradual smear in the security reagions with lots of low sec and a lesser sec hit for attackers. As it is now its uber-concord in high sec and (tankable) gate centries in 0.4 and below. Maybe we need a situation where we have concord like it is now in 1.0 and in 0.6-0.5 only a few ships and in 0.4 and below a only a few cruisers. The insurance contract system could then be changed into a mafia style protection system where concord ships warp in and assist but are not unbeatable. If you pay more insurance the concord response is stiffer. Of course this is just a drone bay expander but it could have a positive effect.
This would mean the attacker needs to take a risk, the miner can still solo mine and have a chance. Of course it would mix pvp and pve and could lead to creative thinking and so on, but just to get the discussion going.

I guess if Skunk said CCP tossed their ethics out the window.. it's true....
Actually.. I think Skunk/Privateers were trying to impose their game style on CCP/Eve/Everyone Else and and now they have to adapt to the Game as the Game just adapted to them. (Yes.. all props given to your style/ideas/whatever)
If you want PvP all the time for "Zero Reasons", then Mutual War Dec other corps/alliances and have fun. This doesn't have to change much at all. Just some fewer targets... I guess that is something to concerned about for that style of play, but not much really.
If you want to war dec someone for a reason, then do it.. spend the ISK and FEEL the risk involved in your corp/Alliance having to strain to maintain a war.... like... everyone else.
I enjoyed the few Empire Wars I was involved in, but to do it ALL the time was not what I signed up for Eve for. I wanted to have fun.. literally... "working" in a fictional environment that was expansive and complicated. "Working" includes fighting wars, Pirates, mining, hauling, trading, military and whatever else there is.
This is what I think a LOT of players signed up for. No Empire is not SAFE, but to fight there, a corp/Alliance must feel the strain of multiple wars on their wallets in order to get the full experience of warfare.
Enjoy

Originally by: Sarf I would like to see a fight club flag:
This would allow for people that want unlimited PvP and those that don't or only want limited.
Like old Evil Thug used to say... DIE!!!
This is king of the ghay. never seen a post worst than it, and I've seen pretty bad ones before but this one takes the cake.
You dude suck hard. The veld must be rotting your brain.
