The Summary Lets see... For me kierons statement is perfectly clear on the general view.
a) You can buy game time (not game time codes!) from third parties for ISK. -> Goto account management page -> Click "Extend subscription" -> Click "Buy Game Time for ISK" -> Click "<some third parties name> 30 day Game Time - 200 Mio ISK" -> Click select character & confirm = You gain 30d added to your account and 200M ISK deducted from selected character.
b) You can buy game time codes (!) for real life currency. c) You may not trade these game time codes for ISK.
It seems that "third parties" is limited to CCP, but this is not clearly stated.
My Opinion It is a interesting move. CCP will lose money if this system is implemented and the aforementioned "third parties" are limited to CCP. This is unusual for a game company, but since CCP is no EA (or any other american company) it is not completly out of the line. There will always be companies which will reduce their profit margin if it means a better product.
And thats the case here. Any impact of real life money on the game is bad.
EVE is about the simulation of a virtual universe. Economy, Strategy, Tactics, Politics, Combat and so on. We have been given a (in some cases limited) toolset and we shape our world with it.
The rules are simple. If you want to live in this world, you must live by its rules. This is true in RL and this is also true in EVE. The rules are defined by the EULA and the TOS. The EULA forbids outside influence (unless via the GTC-loophole).
Why? Because it is bad for the game. A simulation depends on its rules. By cheating around those rules, you gain an advantage. This corrupts the entire simulation and ruins every players experience.
I don't care if you are in the game for PvP or PvE only or if you enjoy both. I don't care if you have more money, less money, more time, less time, a family, no family, a life, no life outside of EVE.
These facts are true in RL and these are also true in EVE.
- You want something, you must earn it.
- If you cannot afford it, you cannot have it.
- If you cheat, you get punished.
Do whatever you want in EVE, as long as you follow the rules. If you want to PvP and cannot afford the ship, go earn some ISK. If you do not want to earn those ISK to buy your ship, go elsewhere.
Yes it is a game, and should not compete with your RL work. But this does not allow you to cheat around the rules. If EVE means work for you, it is the wrong game for you.
Yes, even if you have 10 Mio $ or own 20 companies in RL, this is not RL. This is EVE. We are equals here, building our own world. If you cannot understand this, then please leave.
No, I do not want your stuff, I have earned my own.
Conclusion This is a bug fix. Not in TQs code, but in TQs EULA. Be grateful and fly safe. ___
